About

Carly Rae Jepsen in Concert

After multi-platinum Grammy, Juno and Polaris Prize nominated singer/songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen released her critically acclaimed album E·MO·TION in 2015, it became "a modern touchstone for a new crop of pop-leaning artists and legacy acts," as NPR noted. The album also inspired an abundance of memes — extending the cultural cachet that Jepsen earned from the ubiquity of her GRAMMY® -nominated blockbuster hit "Call Me Maybe" (from her U.S debut album Kiss), which not only climbed to No. 1 on the iTunes Singles charts in over 47 countries, sold over 20 million singles worldwide, and was certified Diamond in the U.S., but was referenced by everyone from former secretary-of-state Colin Powell to Cookie Monster.

Jepsen's most recent album, 2019's Dedicated, retains the joyful, hook-filled feeling of its predecessor. But where E*MO*TION was an '80s-influenced synth-pop classic that Rolling Stone called "a pop masterclass" and Stereogum called "indisputable, unfuckwithable pop genius," Dedicated has a more '70s-inspired feel at times, though the album defies categorization as a whole, with Vulture stating, "Dedicated is both stranger and freer than the last record, but it also feels more confident and considered." Working with a crew of trusted songwriters and producers, among them John Hill, Jack Antonoff, Captain Cuts, Patrik Berger, and her longtime collaborator Tavish Crowe, Jepsen indulged in more sonic experimentation than she had in the past. Dedicated features the fan favorites "Party For One," "Now That I Found You," "No Drug Like Me" and "Julien."

Jepsen landed the lead role in the 2014 Broadway production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella and later starred as the iconic Pink Lady, "Frenchy," in FOX's four-time EMMY award winning musical GREASE: LIVE. Jepsen voiced the character of Odette in the animated movie "LEAP!," which also featured Jepsen's song "Cut To The Feeling."

Carly Rae Jepsen on Tour

Following the release of Dedicated Jepsen embarked on a global tour playing to audiences at venues like the Arizona Federal Theatre in North America, as well as crowds in Japan, China, Australia, Canada and Europe. Jepsen will return to the U.S. later this year for performances at Coachella and Governor's Ball.

  • The Wanted rocks

by onedmomofteen on 8/24/13Covelli Centre - YoungstownRating: 4 out of 5

The Wanted should have been the Headliner. They were much better then Carly Rae Jepson. Most of the people in the crowd were there to see them. Good show overall. Girls were disappointed that the Covelli Center did not allow them to await the tour buses as they left because The Wanted usually greets their fans after performances.

Great performance by both the wanted and carly Rae.

  • The Wanted at the Zoo amazing

by Kasy68 on 8/24/13Weesner Family Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

I loved the concert it was great but I will say this Carly Rae Jepson should have gone first not that she was bad but it was more of a family situation. Her ages were so young maybe 5 on up where as The Wanted ages group is 14 on up so I just thought it would have been so much more appropriate for The Wanted to go second cause little ones shouldn't be out so late. The Wanted's performance was amazing and their talent just shines live they did an amazing job and played the crowd wonderfully, if you ever get a chance to see them live go for it, cause the actually do sing live and they love it you can tell.

  • The Wanted/Carly Rae Jepsen was great!!

    by Wholenote92 on 8/24/13Covelli Centre - YoungstownRating: 5 out of 5

Given that I could only stay until the first couple songs of Carly Rae, the concert was really good! I'd seen videos of TW live via YouTube, but that never prepared me for seeing them live. The few songs that I heard of Carly's were good too, but I do not know a lot of her music.

I absolulty loved the concert! I would love to do it again

I took my daughter & her friend to the concert. We were surprised that there weren't more people there, but it was still a nice crowd. My biggest interest was seeing Carly Rae, but as the show completed we all agreed The Wanted was more entertaining. Carly Rae was good and The Wanted interacted with the audience more. Their songs sounded distinctly different from one another. So we all would definitely come back to see The Wanted. I'm really glad we went overall, it's great to see something positive in this area. And I felt the performers behaved in a way so young children could be there as well.

  • The Wanted totally upstaged Carley Rae Jepsen

    by Ronny9 on 8/24/13Covelli Centre - YoungstownRating: 3 out of 5

the Wanted put on a really great fan interactive show while Carley rae jepsen-acted like she was watching the clock-The show just suddenly ended at 9:55 PM when the lights came on. She never even played my favorite song "Both Sides Now"--I think Carley Rae will probably fade away with her one hit wonder "Call me Maybe" Even though Carley Rae was suppose to be the featured act-I can see now why most people in the audience even the news came to see the Wanted

  • Carly Rae and The Wanted - great show! great venue

by 1tsp on 8/23/13Weesner Family Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

Fabulous show - my 8 1/2 year old daughter loved it! Lots of energy the entrei time. We sat towards the back in the middle and it felt like we could reach out and touch the artists as they preformed. Would go to see both groups wihout a doubt. And can't wait to see another show at the MN Zoo amphitheatre.

  • Awesome concert!!

This was my first time seeing both of these acts in concert. I mainly went for The Wanted and they were amazing! They sounded great and were funny in between songs. I really hope they come back on their world tour! I only really knew the songs off of Carly's most recent album but her show was a lot of fun!

  • The Wanted stole the show!

by Mamabird937 on 8/22/13Iowa State Fair - Des MoinesRating: 4 out of 5

Carly Rae was just meh. Seemed like she was going through the motions. Also, she sounded like a chipmunk. At first we thought it was a sound issue but then nobody seemed to correct the issue. My guess is she just isn't great live. The Wanted was the opener for her and I was really impressed. They interacted with the audience and really got everyone on their feet. They sounded great as well. These boys can SING! I would absolutely go see them again!

  • THe WANTED was incredible!!!

We did not stay for Carley Rae. The Wanted was great

  • by runningj on 8/21/13Iowa State Fair - Des MoinesRating: 3 out of 5

The Wanted gave a solid, fun performance and the band members were sweet to the little girls (and one little boy) who came up on stage during one of their songs--even though it was obvious they were used to having young ladies on stage and not little girls. Carly Rae Jepsen's set was fine. She uses a lot more lights/electronics during her performance.

The wanted could have been more....they weren't what I expected at all. Carly Rae was amazing I will be going back to her concert again. It was full of excitement and mind blowing suprises. Great concert...DEFINATELY. One of a kind.

  • The Wanted

by Astring on 8/21/13Weesner Family Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

The best concert venue ever. Felt so close to them not a bad seat in the house. I will never ever forget that day ever. AWESOME!!!!

  • The Wanted Was Amazing

by HR20 on 8/21/13Weesner Family Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

So this was my first time seeing either artist. The Venue was absolutely amazing. Such a close and personal setting with the artists. We could see them up close and the sound was amazing. The Wanted played first and the whole venue went crazy from the moment they came out. Their set list was filled with all of their upbeat songs, with the exception of Heart Vacancy when they invited 6 girls up and slowed things down for a bit. They were fun, excited and sooo sweet to the fans. Nathan & Tom ran up to the LEFT and RIGHT Stands and hugged and kissed fans. Very sweet. Sounded amazing and were upbeat the whole time. Loved every moment. Carly Rae Jepsen is adorable and very quirky but her set was filled with repetative music and quirky dance moves. She was very sweet but the energy went down a big notch after The Wanted finished.

  • Don't bother

by Douglisa on 8/21/13Iowa State Fair - Des MoinesRating: 2 out of 5

Don't waste your time. Boring show. All songs sounded the same. The Wanted opened and they were fantastic and had personality.

  • Fantastic Venue

by Summerspot on 8/21/13Weesner Family Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 4 out of 5

Not a bad seat in the house! The MN Zoo is a fantastic venue for a concert since all the seats are close to the stage and the sound is great! The Wanted was great - everyone was on their feet, they really seem to have a good time, interacting with the crowd, bringing the crowd in to them and going out into the audience. It was really fun to see them. Carly Rae Jepsen - what can i say...? She has 3 hits and one was a collaboration with Owl City where she doesn't have a big part. She comes out, does her singing and leaves. She sounds like a chipmunk. The crowd reacted to her accordingly - sitting down, not much cheering. She has the lights and streamers but doesn't have the charisma or fun that The Wanted has. Carly will need to learn how to have fun and enjoy what she's doing on stage in order to bring the audience in so they can have a good time.

  • Carly makes a show super fun!

by sogucci on 8/21/13Weesner Family Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

The show was a lot of fun. Carly started out with really fun and upbeat songs and it just made you want to get up and dance and sing. Then she moved onto some slow songs which were really soothing. After, she moved back into more of the fun upbeat songs and she even brought fans up on stage to be back up dancers. It was a great experience and she ended the show with the song that everyone knows, Call Me Maybe. Overall, it was such a cute and fun experience. Carly is a fantastic singer and really knows how to put on a great show.
