About

As part of their 50th Anniversary Season, the critically acclaimed and award-winning Roundabout Theatre Company is proud to present SAM MENDES (Skyfall, American Beauty) and ROB MARSHALL’S (Into the Woods and Chicago, the films) Tony Award-winning production of CABARET.

Welcome to the infamous Kit Kat Klub, where the Emcee, Sally Bowles, and a raucous ensemble take the stage nightly to tantalize the crowd––and to leave their troubles outside. But as life in pre-WWII Germany grows more and more uncertain, will the decadent allure of Berlin nightlife be enough to get them through their dangerous times?

Come hear some of the most memorable songs in theatre history, including “Cabaret,” “Willkommen” and “Maybe This Time.” Leave your troubles outside – life is beautiful at CABARET, JOHN KANDER, FRED EBB and JOE MASTEROFF’s Tony-winning musical about following your heart while the world loses its way.

Cabarat - come hear the music play!

by Guyand2Gals on 6/13/17San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

Cabaret, always a bit raunchy in its presentation of Berlin's decadence around 1930, gets some extra edge in this touring rendition, seen in San Jose. My friends, regular Broadway theater goers, proclaimed the production and cast to be "Broadway quality!" Great singing, great acting. The Emcee was outstanding, drawing the audience into his over-the-top world. Sally B was great, very strongly on her path to self destruction. The author is credibly earnest. The old couple's side story was charming and sad. The band and the girls and boys of the Kit Kat Klub were excellent. A cautionary tale. Thanks to the cast for the great show.

    Cabaret did not disappoint!

by Janch on 6/13/17San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

The host, the full cast were extremely entertaining, and over the top talented. If I'm not mistaken most of the cast was actually playing musical instruments in the orchestra. It's encouraging, for a lack of a better word, to see what I consider a small cast, contribute to all aspects of the performance. Great performance.

    Cabernet, more like Caberyay!

by MrMusical on 6/11/17San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

Clever touring set, doesn't feel kluge together or cheap. Orchestra never overpowers the singing. The voices were wonderful. The acting was superb, particularly Fraulein Schneider and Helga. MC was charming, vile, sad. The pace was perfect. A thrilling and pertinent evening of theater.

Too far - much more risque than 15 years ago.

by Chopper79 on 5/16/17Rochester Auditorium Theatre - Rochester

I was really looking forward to taking my husband to this after seeing it and loving it on Broadway in NYC 15 years ago. I was disappointed by how much it had changed. Why did we need to add Cabaret boys and dress one up like a girl in "Two Ladies"? I remember it being very sexually suggestive to the point of a bit shocking back then, but this revised version just goes too far.

    Disappointing

by Jzamshie491 on 5/16/17Rochester Auditorium Theatre - Rochester

The music was ok but costumes and overall feel of the show was depressing. I understand that it's the beginning of the war and things were tough, but this was a sad tribute to this play.

    DONE IN BAD TASTE.

by dyward on 5/16/17Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

This is one of two plays I did not like and would never go to again. It was nothing like I thought it was going to be. Thought it was done in poor taste.

    a bit too much

by Jean1956 on 5/9/17Rochester Auditorium Theatre - Rochester

I was quite shocked at the graphic sexuality/sexual performances displayed in the show. I heard the people behind me commenting on how some friends, who are not real prudes, had seen the show and walked out during intermission in Buffalo. I was so embarrassed that I brought my 17 year old granddaughter to the show. The sexual activity on stage very nearly overshadowed the real message of the show. I have read the Berlin Stories and I'm sure Christopher Isherwood would have died of embarrassment at seeing this performance (Of course I do know that he is already dead). Future promotions of this production should include some warning information as to the level of sexual conduct that is part of the performance.

    Very Disappointed

by KateKB on 5/9/17Rochester Auditorium Theatre - Rochester

This play must have been choreographed by Milly Cyrus. The dancing was raunchy, the presentation was over the top tacky. A little innuendo goes a long way..this was just out and out tacky. The story line though of course a dark statement piece, certainly could have had a few upbeat segments. It was just plain depressing.

    Disgustingly Raunchy

by Tullingen on 5/5/17Rochester Auditorium Theatre - Rochester

The first half of the shoe contained pantomimes of casual homosexual and heterosexual sex acts. Very little music of any merit occupied this part of the program. The second half of the program had a number of entertaining songs and most of the story's focus. Overall, it appeared to be two different plays, the first to attract the prurient, and the second to attract the music lovers.

    Great show

by LanceJ on 5/3/17Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

I am sure some people would not appreciate the sexuality of the show but it was a necessary component of the over all plot. The ending was very poignant, especially for me because I lost my grandparents in the Holocaust.

by lpriamo on 5/2/17Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

Took my husband with me and he actually enjoyed the play. I have never seen Cabaret so I did not know the plot. Thoroughly packed theater that enjoyed the musical. The actors were very talented. Would highly recommend seeing this play.

While the whole cast was amazing, the Emcee and Sally stood out in the shining glory the characters were meant for.
