As part of their 50th Anniversary Season, the critically acclaimed and award-winning Roundabout Theatre Company is proud to present SAM MENDES (Skyfall, American Beauty) and ROB MARSHALL’S (Into the Woods and Chicago, the films) Tony Award-winning production of CABARET.
Welcome to the infamous Kit Kat Klub, where the Emcee, Sally Bowles, and a raucous ensemble take the stage nightly to tantalize the crowd––and to leave their troubles outside. But as life in pre-WWII Germany grows more and more uncertain, will the decadent allure of Berlin nightlife be enough to get them through their dangerous times?
Come hear some of the most memorable songs in theatre history, including “Cabaret,” “Willkommen” and “Maybe This Time.” Leave your troubles outside – life is beautiful at CABARET, JOHN KANDER, FRED EBB and JOE MASTEROFF’s Tony-winning musical about following your heart while the world loses its way.
Vibe of cast & audience was low energy. I expected more across the board.
Cabaret is my favorite musical. This show would have been AMAZING if they casted a better Sally Bowles. The actress didn't/couldn't dance, so her Cabaret number she just stood at the mic and sang, without "performing." I've seen this show a couple times and have seen the movie and that song is usually very entertaining/fun/funny. This was not. Her voice wasn't that good and it was obvious compared to the other singers. Other than that, the remainder of the cast was phenomenal! Emcee was a 10. We were so impressed by the girls, who sing, dance and play instruments. The show is a go-see, despite Sally.
This show is magnificent. Worth seeing live at least once in your life, if not more. Note: This is the revival version with a different ending than the original. Still powerful, just different.
This was possibly the worst show I've ever seen anywhere. It is an appallingly bad remake with zero energy and tragically poor casting.
I was excited to see this production unfortunately, it fell short in meeting my expectations. The sound engineer was completely off the mark as I struggled to hear the dialog in spite of having excellent seats, first row in the loge balcony. The MC was outstanding but the rest of the cast and the production was very mediocre. I would not recommend this show.
This was a WONDERFUL evening enjoying the best of the golden years of Broadway Musical creations. This production is perhaps darker than the original, but oh-so appropriate for our times. Outstanding original source material; creative, engaging staging and very strong touring cast. Loved it!
Went with Mom and sister.... we Loved Cabaret! Especially the table seating!
I've seen the Broadway version of Cabaret several times over the years. This is, by far, the BEST version I've ever seen. The staging, lighting, dancing, all made the story come to life. There was no mistaking the decline of Berlin happening right before our eyes. I will go see any production by this group whenever I can.
I love the production, the emcee stole the show! I feel Sally Boles could have been better, her voice was OK, just didn't have enough charisma to grab the audience, vocals could have been fuller. Felt all other characters were good.
I was sorely disappointed and left after the 4th song.
great return of a great musical but my seating was so bad it took away from the enjoyment of the show
Great cast, great voices. Fantastic production overall. If I had to be picky, I'd say maybe the choreography could have been a little more interesting, but I wouldn't change it significantly. My partner had never seen the show, and had a hard time discerning a lot of the lyrics, but he generally got he point, and was ultimately moved to tears by the end. So I'd say it did its thing!
#Amazing Truly a remarkable staging and set! BY FAR one of THE BEST touring productions of CABARET I have EVER SEEN!! this is TRULY A MUST SEE!!!
The play was better than I even hoped. I enjoyed every minute of it.
Cabaret was such a vivid play set in an increasingly scary society.
In a bare bones set the times are captured perfectly. Such an amazing cast so well suited to this show. Outstanding voices and actors. The emcee was so naughty bordering on evil. Fraulein Schultz stole our hearts with a show stopping vocal poignancy This Sally Bowles may not be the best actress ever to play this part. However, she has got to have the best voice EVER. She was a phenomenon. Not really fair to isolate one character over others as it was an ensemble piece worthy of this great material. This production captures the era and decadence of pre-war Berlin better than the movie. And, "Even the orchestra is beautiful."
The dialog is outdated. I don't think anybody under 50 realizes the seriousness of what the Nazi's did in the 30's and 40's. The music is still relevant and good. The script was very raunchy and suggestive. I realize today's norm's have moved to more "R: rated movies and plays but some of us still want to be entertained not slapped.
Cabaret is provocative, edgy and highly entertaining. The cast clearly gave it their all. The best Emcee I've seen and he is talented beyond belief. The casting director got it right with this group. The story is one that everyone should know. Bravo!
It had been a long time since I had seen Cabaret...and didn't remember it very well. But this was an extremely well acted production. I understood it at a different level than I had before. It was raunchy (as it should be) but excellently poignant and profound. It was a perfect Pride Week experience--showing the convergence of hatred, optimism and disaster. Bravo for the acting, the singing, the staging and the dancing.
but it was damned good. Would see again and recommend to anyone over the age of 18, not a good fit for little ones.
