CABARET’s famed ‘Kit Kat Club’ is returning to Sydney for a strictly limited season! A new Australian revival of one of the world’s most beloved musicals, experience the decadence of CABARET at Hayes Theatre Co from 9 January 2017.
Starring the mesmerising Paul Capsis as Emcee; the leading lady of musical theatre Chelsea Gibb as Sally Bowles and the incredible Marcus Graham as Ernst Ludwig, CABARET’s much loved songs and piercing message will ensure a wonderful and meaningful night out at the theatre.
With the brilliant Kate Fitzpatrick as Fräulein Schneider, the eminent John O’May as Herr Schultz and the popular Debora Krizak as Fräulein Kost, the talented cast also includes Jason Kos as Clifford Bradshaw, Michelle Barr as Fritzi, Nick Jones as Victor, Matthew Manahan as Gottfried and Michelle Smitheram as Helga.
Winner of 12 Tony Awards, 8 Academy Awards and 7 BAFTA’s, CABARET wows audiences and critics alike time and time again. Fifty years ago the original Broadway production made a household name of Joel Grey while just two years later an unassuming Judi Dench stole the show on London’s West End. Arguably the most iconic movie musical of all time, renowned director Bob Fosse made Liza Minnelli a silver screen star.
Based on The Berlin Stories by renowned author Christopher Isherwood, CABARET celebrates the sexual freedom and social liberation of 1930s Berlin. CABARET, adapted into musical form by Kander and Ebb, became Isherwood’s semi-biographical portrait of life on the edge.

Did a great job with their own interpretation of Cabaret. Would highly recommend it.
The show was great, but the process of purchasing the tickets was difficult. Not familiar with mobile ticket buying.
We really enjoyed the performance, the intimacy of Shay’s Smith theater was a perfect venue and the cast was amazing—on par with Broadway and West End. Bravo!
Very intimate/quirky venue. Made for a very enjoyable experience.
The play was very dramatic and gave us a picture of what it may have been like to live in a country taken over by another country. The happy go lucky characters soon learn that their life was going to be very different. The cast member gave it their "all" and did a fantastic job!
Excellent performance. Greatly enjoyed. Found to be as good as seeing a broadway performance.
I've seen the show on Broadway and this one was really good. All the lead characters were fantastic and really count
Just somehow the translation did not make it thru.
More profane than the initial movie or the play I saw in Cincinnati OH with Lea Thompson as the starring role.
The songs in the play were amazing. The character, Sally, had an amazing voice. I had a hard time understanding what the performers were saying most of the time due to them speaking with a German accent. I'm glad we went to see Cabaret but I was happier when the play was over.
Exaggerated German accent was very hard to understand, would have been more enjoyable without the excessive sexual illustrations
Minimalist set. Challenges imagination. Excellent acting and singing. Very well done. Would definitely recommend to friends. Love and appreciate the opportunity to see Broadway quality shows in Knoxville, TN. As always, the Tennessee Theater is a marvelous and luxurious venue.
Loved it! Brilliant cast, very cool set, just a wonderful show! Highly recommended!
Very good show. Probably my favorite musical. I was a little worried it wouldn't stack up without Liza, but Cabaret live is worth every cent! One note though... I do wish the Theatre didn't allow in and out movement during the performance. It was very distracting to get climbed over, and have people coming and going.
Cabaret was a great production! I enjoyed it immensely.
Having never read the play or seen the movie, I was not prepared for Cabaret's underlying theme and ending. With that being said, it was a superb performance with extremely talented actors. I wouldn't see it again, but I am very glad to have seen it once.
It was disappointing. Loved the music. All the singers were great and voices amazing. Had difficulty understanding the "Host character" His fake German accent was not clear. Did not understand how the "mooning" before intermission had anything to do with the story line. Overall, it is a story line not for everyone.
It was good but not the best production we’ve seen. A broader representation of the human form would have been appreciated. Everyone—the orchestra through the actors—seemed to be cut from the same size, thin mold. Emcee did a brilliant job. Sally Bowles was not convincing. Dancing was so-so.
This show was very good! The theater was beautiful!
