Buffalo Sabres History

The Sabres joined the NHL in the 1970 expansion, and just two years later embarked on a streak that saw them reach the playoffs in 12 of the next 13 seasons. Leading the way were "The French Connection" line of Hall of Fame center Gilbert Perreault, left-wing Rick Martin, and right-wing René Robert. The Quebec-born trio was together in Buffalo from 1972 through 1979. Aided by Craig Ramsay, the Sabres and their French Connection advanced to the 1975 Stanley Cup Final in  their fifth season, though they fell in six games to the Philadelphia Flyers.

In the following 10 seasons, all of which resulted in playoff berths, the Sabres captured two division titles. Fueled by defenseman (and former U.S. Olympic star) Mike Ramsey, the Sabres made nine playoff appearances between the 1981–1982 and 1991–1992 seasons. Later, during goaltender Dominik Hasek's nine seasons, the Sabres continued to be a consistent playoff team. In 1999, they dispatched the Ottawa Senators, Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs in the playoffs to again reach the Stanley Cup Finals, where they fell to the Dallas Stars in six games.

In 2006 and 2007 the Sabres made it as far as the conference finals before succumbing to the Carolina Hurricanes and Ottawa Senators, respectively. To date, the Sabres have been in the playoffs 29 times, winning six divisional championships and three conference titles.

    KidsDay

by Sabresfan on 4/26/22KeyBank Center - Buffalo

Tickets have been really expensive this year so having the opportunity to get kids tickets for 25$ ea was huge so instead of 260$ for three it was 139$. Huge savings for this Mom.

    Sabres vs. Flyers 4/16/2022

    by J. C. on 4/19/22KeyBank Center - Buffalo

Game was fantastic! The place and energy was electric and my wife and I had a fantastic time! Parking issue was a little bit of a turn off, with them not accepting my pre-purchased ticket, but all was well!

    Expensive

by Sabresatndent on 4/17/22KeyBank Center - Buffalo

Spent way too much on 300 level tickets when half the arena was empty. So once again your pricing was artificially propped up. Was encouraged to move closer because no one was there. The 50 cents worth of hotdog and soggy bun was $4. Was never asked the ages of my kids to get the kids’ seating price that was advertised during the game. I realize Ticketmaster has a monopoly and can price fix, but come on, your greed is becoming blatantly obvious.

    First NHL Game

by Scott Jones on 4/17/22KeyBank Center - Buffalo

Our family of 5 travelled 2 hrs to Buffalo for our first NHL game. It was easy to get to the arena, easy to enter the building with electronic tickets, staff was very friendly and supportive, and we loved the seats for the price (12 rows from the ice, $260 for 5 tickets). Our kids loved it so much we will be looking to do it again this year and for sure next year.

The birth of a playoff team

by Rick G. on 4/17/22KeyBank Center - Buffalo

Being able to share a playoff team in the making makes for a life experience that we will always have. Discussing strategy of the coaching and listening to Rick Jearnett play by play. The sensation and smells of the arena brings back memories when I would take my young son to the games when he was young and the excitement he had being at his first game. The soverneirs he collected programs, hockey pucks, hockey cards with autographs, and the thrill of spending time with him. So this team is more then a playoff team it’s a team that is building new memories with my son. Thanks to the team for the memories to come and relieving the stresses of the last few years due to the Covid-19’s .

    Sabres Game with Grandson

by Tony on 4/8/22KeyBank Center - Buffalo

Got there early for a great parking spot in the ramp. Enjoyed some of the food from the food court the service was very friendly and polite. Then we sat in our seats and both myself and my grandson thought they were the best seats ever! 4th row just behind the net that the Sabres shoot on 2 times ! We were having fun, then one of the Sabres took a shot that barely missed the net but hit the boards just in front of me!!! WOW it really made our whole area feel part of the game and we all started talking about the shot! What a great experience! The Sabres fans as a whole are a tremendous group of people. The best part of it all was after the Sabres won and while walking back to the car my grandson stated he loved hanging out with just him and his Papa!

    Sabers vs. Winnipeg

by Alf on 4/7/22KeyBank Center - Buffalo

Me and my family had a great time at the game on March 30th 2022. It was very easy to pick out our seats and to place the order for our tickets. The staff was helpful with any questions that we had. The only problem I ran into was there was no were stating that it was credit cards only. I found out after placing my food order( very embarrassing).

    RJ Night

by Flumpy on 4/4/22KeyBank Center - Buffalo

As soon as I heard that the Organization was honoring Rick Jeaneret, I knew that I had to get tickets. Everything was well done. I wasn't planning on getting the banner, but when I saw the size if it, I knew I wanted to have one. I was expecting something a LOT smaller. The tribute to Rick was amazing and well done. I was getting emotional watching the videos and listening to the stories. It was also great to see the players honor Rick after the game.
