About

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are regarded as one of the very best live rock acts of all time. From humble New Jersey beginnings in 1972, they grew in popularity to become one of the true icons of American music. Hits such as “Born In The USA” and “Dancing In The Dark” cemented Bruce Springsteen as one of America's top popular rock vocalists. He's known for being one of the hardest-working acts in the industry, and concerts can regularly last three hours or more and tours often last years rather than months.
Bruce Springsteen began his musical career singing and playing in a number of bands in the New Jersey area in the mid-‘60s. Influenced by the likes of Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Cream, his musical style was both a reflection of his own tastes and of his blue-collar working-class American roots. The mix of old-fashioned rock and roll with a more progressive, often politically minded lyrical style soon began to build a cult following for Springsteen. By 1972 he was signed to a deal with Columbia Records, along with the E Street Band. The band's members changed now and then over the years, but the core members were Danny Federici, Clarence Clemons, Garry Tallent, Roy Bittan and Max Weinberg. Together they released their first album, Greetings From Asbury Park NJ, in 1972.
While they enjoyed tremendous success in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, they were launched into the megastar category with the release of Born In The USA in 1984. The album stormed the US charts, becoming one of the biggest-selling records of all time with over 30 million albums sold. Bruce Springsteen became an American pop-culture icon and the band enjoyed huge success worldwide with sold-out stadium tours and numerous top 10 singles.
In 1999 Bruce Springsteen was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and over the years the act has won numerous Grammy and Golden Globe Awards while continuing to rock at sell-out shows the world over. Bruce has always remained true to his roots, often turning down offers from corporate advertisers wanting to use his music for profit. His music has truly captured the American spirit over the years, which is why he has remained a much-loved and consistently popular musician for such a long time. Away from his on-stage commitments he is an activist for equal rights and runs a charity called The Foundation which helps support war veterans and food banks.

Played for 3 solid hours without a break, and really rocked the house. Great combination of mega hits and other works.

    Great show but somewhat boring.

    by veus55 on 9/14/09BankAtlantic Center - Sunrise

I have never see Bruce before. I have been a fan for a long time. The sound was fair, a bit too loud and all the song sounded the same. I have been to 100+ concerts and the show looked tired. He has a lot of energy and by the end he really worked the crowd. I fulfilled my wish of going to see Springsteen but I will probably never go again.

    classics missing

by mcgp on 9/14/09BankAtlantic Center - Sunrise

Bruce and the band were fab ,high energy 3 hour nonstop performance. Voice, music and energy still flawless.Great interaction with audience, still I left somewhat disappointed. When i read other reviews i realized why. Bruce, in true Bruce style ,choose not to play many of the songs I went to hear (I was not alone).Missing were Born To Run, Rosalita, Glory Days and Spirit In The Night to name a few.I realize an artist of his caliber chooses what he wants to showcase but at over a hundred dollars a ticket i expect to leave happy.

    by 1953bill on 9/14/09BankAtlantic Center - Sunrise

He played for 3 hours, non stop. It was one of the best shows that I ever saw. It was unforgettable. Well worth the $100.00 ticket price. I'd go again!

The Boss is still "THE BOSS"

by ElliMae on 9/14/09BankAtlantic Center - Sunrise

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band put on a phenomianl show. It was just under 3 hours with no breaks. There aren't many acts out there that give you that much entertainment for your money. The vocals and the music were both strong. Bruce was very engaging with the audience - he even brought some young children up on stage to dance & sing with him. It was great that he pulled the signs from the audience and played some of the songs written on them. Adding accordian playing with 3 from the group was cute & entertaining. The only drawback was that the tickets stated a 7:30 pm start and the show did not start until 8:30 pm.

    Great show!

    by springsteenfan09 on 9/14/09BankAtlantic Center - Sunrise

This was my first Bruce Sprinsteen concert and I believe you would probably enjoy the show more if you're truly a Bruce Sprinsteen fan . Maybe it was the seats we got at the Bank Atlantic Center (Across from the stage an slightly to the side) but there was a lack of enthusiasm on the part of the crowd. Bruce Sprinsteen's energy and personality are undeniable and are stand out features of his concerts but its much better when the people are active participants as well, but I wasn't dissapointed at all. They sang a lot of old material that you don't hear anymore on the radio but that instantly transport you to that time when you heard it for the first time. In sum I came to see the legend and left very pleased but maybe next time I'll buy ticktes on the floor.

    Best Yet

by johnmom on 9/14/09BankAtlantic Center - Sunrise

I didn't see the E street back in the Greetings from Asbury Park days; but of the 8 concerts that I have seen in the past 15 years, this one was one of my two favorites. When the E Street played Orlando after the death of Danny, that show touched eveybody in the audience. That was the most emotion charged atmosphere I had the honor to wittness. We all went away saying WOW!! But last night at Bank Atlantic in Ft. Lauderdale, the E Street made it fun. Lots of lively upbeat rocking, smiling, sing-a-long songs from years past. And when he brought the kids on stage, it was like saying "Here they are, the next generation of Rockers". We all had FUN. BRUCE you and the E Street are totally AWESOME. The energy, and soul this group puts out is like receiving CPR, it revives you and makes you feel Life again.

To be honest I was never a big fan but my husband asked if I wanted to go so said 'sure'...I did not have much expectation going in but....WOW...what a great time. We had so much fun, there was so much energy in the room and everyone was so into it. I would definately go again...

    Bruce was awesome

by abidilla on 9/14/09BankAtlantic Center - Sunrise

We enjoyed every minute of the concert and I would highly recommend Bank Atlantic Center for any event! The sound effect was not so good because the band had the volume a little to high and the only person you could hear was BRUCE. Clarence Clemons is the best SAX player there is. The songs were great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The beer was cold and the fans were wonderful.

    Better days?

    by Mark2002 on 9/14/09BankAtlantic Center - Sunrise

Other than the execrable "Tom Joad" tour, last night in Ft. Lauderdale was the low point of 18 Springsteen shows for me. After a delay of nearly an hour--for which there was no acknowledgement or apology--Bruse seemed to just go through the motions. The crowd was willing and able, and tried mightily, but the set selection was sub-par and Bruces screaming talking-singing was barely decipherable. I love the guy, and will (have) travel to the ends of the earth to see him, but this was a let down.

    Springsteen rocks!!

    by dak617 on 9/14/09BankAtlantic Center - Sunrise

Having never seen Springsteen live, this concert was a "must see" for me. The only downside was that the concert was supposed to start at 7:30 but didn't start until almost 8:30 with no announcement as to the reason. The crowd was getting a lot unruly because of the lateness especially as the next day was a workday for most of us. However, once the concert started, Springsteen and the Band were absolutely incredible. They didn't stop for approx. 3 hours straight and were all in rare form. His relationship with the crowd was awesome and he brought several kids onto the stage with him to sing and/or dance.

    Fantastic

by coolmommydeland on 9/14/09BankAtlantic Center - Sunrise

My husband and I took our three kids to see their first rock concert tonight. It might have been a mistake. Seeing Springsteen for your first concert is like having George Clooney as your first date--everything else will pale by comparison--don't even try. Bruce and the band were wonderful. They played for three hours. A good mix of standards and new material. Only negative was the acoustics in the BankAtlantic Center are awful. Several times I had to cover my ears, the sound bouncing off the glass partitions was physically painful at times. All in all, fantastic evening. Kids are hoarse from screaming. Thanks Bruce!
