About

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are regarded as one of the very best live rock acts of all time. From humble New Jersey beginnings in 1972, they grew in popularity to become one of the true icons of American music. Hits such as “Born In The USA” and “Dancing In The Dark” cemented Bruce Springsteen as one of America's top popular rock vocalists. He's known for being one of the hardest-working acts in the industry, and concerts can regularly last three hours or more and tours often last years rather than months.
Bruce Springsteen began his musical career singing and playing in a number of bands in the New Jersey area in the mid-‘60s. Influenced by the likes of Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Cream, his musical style was both a reflection of his own tastes and of his blue-collar working-class American roots. The mix of old-fashioned rock and roll with a more progressive, often politically minded lyrical style soon began to build a cult following for Springsteen. By 1972 he was signed to a deal with Columbia Records, along with the E Street Band. The band's members changed now and then over the years, but the core members were Danny Federici, Clarence Clemons, Garry Tallent, Roy Bittan and Max Weinberg. Together they released their first album, Greetings From Asbury Park NJ, in 1972.
While they enjoyed tremendous success in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, they were launched into the megastar category with the release of Born In The USA in 1984. The album stormed the US charts, becoming one of the biggest-selling records of all time with over 30 million albums sold. Bruce Springsteen became an American pop-culture icon and the band enjoyed huge success worldwide with sold-out stadium tours and numerous top 10 singles.
In 1999 Bruce Springsteen was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and over the years the act has won numerous Grammy and Golden Globe Awards while continuing to rock at sell-out shows the world over. Bruce has always remained true to his roots, often turning down offers from corporate advertisers wanting to use his music for profit. His music has truly captured the American spirit over the years, which is why he has remained a much-loved and consistently popular musician for such a long time. Away from his on-stage commitments he is an activist for equal rights and runs a charity called The Foundation which helps support war veterans and food banks.

    This show was awesome!!!

by Pigz on 7/13/09Mellon Arena - Pittsburgh

I got these tickets for my Dad (who had never seen Bruce perform live) and his friend. They had the best time! Dad said that Springsteen went non-stop all evening. And I quote, "When Bruce starts sweating -- the place really gets rocking!" I think he was inpressed with his endurance to perform with such energy and really maintain that level of intensity throughout the entire show. There are a lot younder acts out there that don't have the longevity. That's why Bruce and his band have stood the test of time. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band is one of the few legendary artists you just have to see.

One of the best Bruce concerts ever!!

by kennuss11 on 7/13/09IZOD Center - East Rutherford

I have been going to Bruce concerts since 1974 and this one was one of the best ever. The set list was amazing-lots of old songs and played beautifully. The music was jazzy, just like in the old days.

    Bruce Springsteen

    by bruce52tele on 7/13/09Mellon Arena - Pittsburgh

As usual, Bruce's show is outstanding from beginning to end. For those of us lucky enough to have seen the E streeters before, and especially for the generation just awakening to the greatness of Bruce, the tour stops now are as good as rock music gets.

    Springsteen forever

by Hattie on 7/13/09Mellon Arena - Pittsburgh

I have seen Bruce three times. This was the best concert ever. I could see him over and over and over. He has to come back to the States and have a winter tour. I would love to see him at the Giants stadium in October. I have never seen so much energy from a rock star as I do with him. Amazing!!!!!!

Springsteen is the Boss of the Burgh!

by Katman on 7/13/09Mellon Arena - Pittsburgh

The E street Band is at the top of their game. Playing in front of the world at the Super Bowl, Gearing up for Bonaroo, Glastonberry & Hard Rock Calling. This was the 13th time I have seen them and it was undeniably their best performance I have seen live.

Springsteen and E Street are life affirming!

by Odin on 7/13/09Mellon Arena - Pittsburgh

Have you ever watched someone doing exactly what they put on this earth to do and shared in their bliss? This is how a Springsteen concert feels. It' s a collective experience with the band and audience that allows us, young and old to live totally in the moment and share in the emotions evoked by the songs. Pittsburgh audiences love Springsteen. The enthusiasum and joy in the crowd is contagious. And at this concert in May, we treated to a rare gem when Springsteen picked Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone" to perform. When he decided to perform the song, the smile on Bruce's face was ear to ear. We shared that joy and gave it back as we sang along. Can't wait till the next concert. I have booked one in Giant Stadium this fall as I hear Bruce and the Band are even more amazing in their back yard.....but it's hard to beat Pittsburgh's love for Springsteen and the earth shaking E Street Band!

    by brett721 on 7/13/09Mellon Arena - Pittsburgh

Springsteen was great as usual, the man never slows down. the band sounded great and the setlist was very good. mellon areana sould not sell seats in section C that are under the overhang, you have to duck to see and if u stand ,noone behind you can see, if they are gonna sell those seats, they should at least discount them.

E Street at the top of their game

by KenD on 7/13/09IZOD Center - East Rutherford

I've been seeing Bruce and the band since 1975, and lots of shows since 2003. The last few times, starting last summer at Giants Stadium, have been amazing. The band is playing at an incredibly high level, and the request segment adds an element of excitement to the shows that we're there in the 2003-2007 shows. Good Lovin' and Mony Mony were high points, along with an amazing Incident. Max was happy to back behind the kit and wa particularly high energy.

    E STREET BAND

by hjhoops on 7/13/09IZOD Center - East Rutherford

Have seen Springsteen many times-IZOD performance confirmed my admiration for hard work and talent. Will see him in Hartford and East Rutherford! Unexpected plus was how easy it was to get from NYC to IZOD Center using public transportation. Will do the same in October.

    More isn't alway better

by damnels on 7/13/09Verizon Center - Washington

There was way too much guitar. It think he had six guitar players and two keyboards, so the sound was very muddy. It was not his best performance.

    Bruce at the Izod

by Calamity on 7/13/09IZOD Center - East Rutherford

Not one of his most amazing shows, but then again seeing Bruce is always unforgettable. He is such a compelling and entertaining performer. What energy! The good thing about this show was that he played a lot of old stuff that he usually doesn't do live. The bad thing is that his encore was less than good. No Rosalita! Oh well, been there, done that anyway. The E-Street band was incredible (as usual). I could have done without the (what seemed like) 10 minute version of Outlaw Pete. I guess he really likes that song. Overall not near his best, but still worth every penny.

    Bruce Rocked!

by shyqt on 7/13/09IZOD Center - East Rutherford

First time ever seeing the Boss live and i was left speachless. I've never seen a performer with so much non-stop energy that engaged the crowd the way he does. From the opening with Badlands to the closing with Mony Mony, Bruce rocked!! He is the true American rocker and now i can see why he's been on top for decades. After seeing this show i had to get tickets to the close out of Giants Stadium. I may now be an eternal fan!
