About

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are regarded as one of the very best live rock acts of all time. From humble New Jersey beginnings in 1972, they grew in popularity to become one of the true icons of American music. Hits such as “Born In The USA” and “Dancing In The Dark” cemented Bruce Springsteen as one of America's top popular rock vocalists. He's known for being one of the hardest-working acts in the industry, and concerts can regularly last three hours or more and tours often last years rather than months.
Bruce Springsteen began his musical career singing and playing in a number of bands in the New Jersey area in the mid-‘60s. Influenced by the likes of Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Cream, his musical style was both a reflection of his own tastes and of his blue-collar working-class American roots. The mix of old-fashioned rock and roll with a more progressive, often politically minded lyrical style soon began to build a cult following for Springsteen. By 1972 he was signed to a deal with Columbia Records, along with the E Street Band. The band's members changed now and then over the years, but the core members were Danny Federici, Clarence Clemons, Garry Tallent, Roy Bittan and Max Weinberg. Together they released their first album, Greetings From Asbury Park NJ, in 1972.
While they enjoyed tremendous success in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, they were launched into the megastar category with the release of Born In The USA in 1984. The album stormed the US charts, becoming one of the biggest-selling records of all time with over 30 million albums sold. Bruce Springsteen became an American pop-culture icon and the band enjoyed huge success worldwide with sold-out stadium tours and numerous top 10 singles.
In 1999 Bruce Springsteen was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and over the years the act has won numerous Grammy and Golden Globe Awards while continuing to rock at sell-out shows the world over. Bruce has always remained true to his roots, often turning down offers from corporate advertisers wanting to use his music for profit. His music has truly captured the American spirit over the years, which is why he has remained a much-loved and consistently popular musician for such a long time. Away from his on-stage commitments he is an activist for equal rights and runs a charity called The Foundation which helps support war veterans and food banks.

    Ageless Timeless Spectacular!

by windex on 9/18/09BI-LO Center - Greenville

Bruce always brings his best ! He plays for the people. Full of energy. Always the entertainer. The sound was a little off and extremely loud for my taste but Bruce made up for it with his incredible showmanship. His new drummer was the best I have seen and the rest of the E Street Band was flawless.

This was my first time seeing Bruce in concert, I have always been a huge fan so I was very excited to say the least. I was so impressed with the show and how he played a perfect combination of oldies as well as his new stuff. I would love to see him again and hope that he comes back to Greenville soon!

    The Boss was incredible!!

    by Bonnie112407 on 9/18/09BI-LO Center - Greenville

Bruce Springsteen's performance in Greenville on September 16 was outstanding. This is the 2nd time I have seen him perform with the E Street Band. The energy of the show and the enthusiasm of the crowd was remarkable and I was on my feet for most of the 3 hours he played. Hands down, this is the best concert I've ever been to and I hope to see him perform again!!

    Springsteen is the BOSS!

by Campion on 9/18/09BI-LO Center - Greenville

Bruce is a working man's man. The man gives a great performance and plays to them. He and the E-Street Band works hard, is enthusiastic and seem to be happy to be performing for the audience. The audience is older (in their 40s and 50s), but were energetic and was a three hour dance- few people stayed seated. This was one of the better concerts I have been to due to the audience being in good spirits, not out-of-control (not drunk nor stoned), and Sprinsteen and the E-Street Band played their hearts out. If you like his music go see him; the concert will not let you down.

    There's a reason he's called The Boss.

by coachdoug on 9/18/09BI-LO Center - Greenville

Springsteen's a legend, so I finally took the opportunity to see him at his tour stop in my hometown. As a casual fan, I'm not the guy who could sing along with every song, so I was more attuned to the quality of the performance. No question, Bruce and the E Street Band lived up to their considerable reputations. The Boss may be fast approaching 60, but he gets my vote as the Hardest Working Man in Show Business now that James Brown is gone. Only one criticism: The show started almost an hour late with no explanation or apology offered.

Springsteen is AMAZING and a must see!

by JimSC on 9/18/09BI-LO Center - Greenville

AMAZING as always with Bruce. From the opening song, 10th Ave Freeze Out, he had the packed crowd electrified. and it didn't take long for him to get out into the crowd on the floor. Played a variety of his stuff covering all the years but never dissapointed. And the E Street Band was INCREDIBLE as always. And Clarence's Gold Painted Fingernails looked awesome against his sax! Bruce's set list totaled 29 songs and his 7 song encore really had the place going crazy as it seemed as if HE didn't want it to end. And amazing evening for all who attended. I'd go back in a minute. An incredible surprise of the evening was Max Weinberg's son, Jay, subbing for him on drums. That kid is INCREDIBLE. As much as I love Max, I'm glad I was able to see Jay. Best drummer I've EVER seen! AMAZING.

The Boss is as Good as Ever!

    by Boilerman767 on 9/18/09BI-LO Center - Greenville

Went to see the Boss in Greenville SC earlier this week. I must say that the last time I saw him in concert was 25 years ago. He has not lost a beat. He still puts on one of the best shows I've ever seen. Music, Music, and more music. No warmup bands boring you for 2 hours. No long intermissions. No breaks for outfit changes. Just the Boss and the E Streeters doing their thing for almost 3 hours. Great time!

Bruce and the E Street band...BEST concert EVER

    by paulyz48 on 9/17/09BI-LO Center - Greenville

The show was the greatest that I have ever been to. I knew that i would enjoy it before going, already being a lifelong fan of their music. I hope to see them again sometime soon. The energy and hard work from their show transmitted a personal connection to the music to me that is hard to explain and that i find my self in awe of. Thank you to Bruce and The E Street Band for a GREAT show!

Master shows the Apprentices How it's Done

by Alphonse on 9/17/09BI-LO Center - Greenville

With all of the poseur lip=synching wanna-be's we're fed as "new talent", it's refreshing to see someone who has the audience in his hand like warm putty from the first footfalll on the stage. That has to be earned, and this guy has earned it. The fact that he shows grace, courage, compassion and unrivaled talent for three hours and personalizes the show is what separates this man from the boys.

    The Boss.....no matter what......

    by KSchneid1 on 9/17/09BI-LO Center - Greenville

This was a rock legend-event....no foreplay.....no breaks.....just rock. Whoever talks negative about his songs should be reminded, that critics of whatever nature leads to thinking about it and usually leads to improvements.....get to a mature sense....That is what I see in his intentions of his lyrics ! At least you think about it...many people refer and identify themselves....there must be some reason !

    Too much new music

    by mcb812 on 9/17/09BI-LO Center - Greenville

I was disappointed with show. Bruce did not play enough of the music that made him what he is today. For every good song there were 4 horrible ones. Way too much of the new material was played, he didn't even play Born In the USA! The show started 45 minutes late and Max Weineberg was not on the drums (which was a disappointment). The music sounded good as far as the band's performance and Clarence Clemmons was awesome on the sax. Overall it was an ok show, but way over priced. Not enough "bang" for the buck so to speak. I would not pay to see him again.

springsteen ... even the southerners 'get it'

    by hazmat1212 on 9/17/09BI-LO Center - Greenville

i was surprised by the crowd ... mostly older crowd (yeah, my age 40'-50's people who bought general admission weren't smart enough to realize they didn't get SEAT or ROW NUMBERS ... and were freaking out the way down to their square of concrete... though we didn't sit much at all, since the concert didn't start until after 8 (when the tix said 7:30) if u were there an hour early you stood for four hours ... . clarence is 'getting up there' ... the new drummer (guess MAX was busy) ... was awesome also, Patti Scialfa was not there either ...
