Admittedly, I had stopped really following Bruce Hornsby in recent years and mostly knew his music from the 1990s. And while he played some of those older hits, they were updated and much improved with new arrangements, a bigger more eclectic band, and no resting on well-earned laurels. In addition, the band played some really complex arrangements, built the set around audience-requested songs, and included arrangements for dulcimer. Bruce is still in fine voice and the music was truly excellent. The Lexington Opera House was a very cool venue, and I look forward to seeing other shows there. The experience was heightened when a bat began flying around the stage--but Bruce quickly shifted to a song about a bat (albeit a baseball bat) and turned the distraction into an event. This was an excellent show!
