Brooklyn Nets History
Founded in 1967 as a member of the American Basketball Association, the Brooklyn Nets franchise began as the New Jersey Americans before relocating to Long Island for its second season and becoming the Nets. After merging into the NBA for the 1976–77 season, the Nets moved to New Jersey and remained there for 35 seasons before relocating to Brooklyn in 2012.
The Nets closed their ABA era as the league's marquee franchise, reaching the finals in 1972 and then winning championships in 1974 and 1976. The legendary Julius Erving won the league's final three MVP awards. Powered by forward Buck Williams, the Nets made five straight NBA playoff appearances from 1981–82 through the 1985–86 seasons.
In 1991–92, the Nets, propelled by top scorer Dražen Petrović and young catalysts Derrick Coleman and Kenny Anderson, returned to the playoffs, with both Coleman and Petrović earning All-NBA honors in 1993. The arrival of point guard Jason Kidd in 2001 sparked the team's greatest NBA era. Joined by Richard Jefferson, Kenyon Martin and Kerry Kittles, Kidd led the Nets to a franchise-record 52 wins in 2001–02 and back-to-back NBA Finals appearances in 2002 and 2003. With high-flying Vince Carter arriving during the 2004–05 season, the Nets made six straight playoff appearances.
The 2020–21 season was a stellar one for the Nets, as they advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals, losing in the seventh game to eventual NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks. Kevin Durant set an NBA playoff Game 7 record when he scored 48 points, but the Nets came up a bit short.

We haven't seen the coliseum so full for a sporting event in years. the whole family loved it. we would definitely attend any future games played there.
My family and I enjoyed the game. However, the $20 parking fee was extremely steep. There was no toilet paper in a few of the stalls in the ladies room, which was ridiculous given the cost of the tickets and the price to park. Also, I wish attendees would be considerate of those around them, and stop their children from constantly kicking the back of the seats in front of them.
I had a nice day. The game was very exciting. This game was my first time that to watch basket ball game at live. But after the game, almost buses were coming very late.
Knicks win in overtime gainst Nets in there first ever matchup since the nets moved to Brooklyn
Awesome to the very, overtimed, end!!!!!! There was so much energy in the room. There were some boos but, no bad sportsmanship. The crowd was friendly and pumped. It was an awesome experience; Shumpert, who did noy play, due to injury, even gave "daps" to my 19 year old son!!!! Made his night, week, month!!!!!
The game was good and even more so because the Knicks won! It was a nice night out with the girls.
This was my first ever basketball game and it was a fun experience. My husband and I went and had a great time. The only downfall was that parking was $20!! We've gone to events at Nassau Coliseum before and I don't recall ever paying that much!! The seats were great though!!
Even though it was a pre-season game, it was still a great game & the Knicks win it in OT which made it even better to be there in person!
Good game..... happy when the regular season start...Go B'klyn Go!!!
Game was great. Nassau Colliseum is small so all seats were good. We were positioned kiddy corner behind basket and Knicks seats. Much better viewability and value for $ than at MSG.
The game was great and even went to overtime. My seats were center court in section 217 and whole experience was amazing.
Really good......i love it....great game between the two new York teams....
the scores were not displayed anywhere,; not on the big screen, no where. sat in 300 level. monitors available but screens were black. i know it's pre-season ball but what utter contempt for the ticket payer
The game was great. It's nice to see a new edition to the NYC sports family; although, there wasn't much love for the [newly relocated] BROOKLYN Nets. It's also great having activities in Long Island and not going into the city for everything! And tickets were reasonably priced, although it WAS a pre-season game. The only downside was parking--Nassau Coliseum got over on everyone. Their website CLEARLY says $10 preferred parking for sports (and $20 for concerts), yet they still charged us $20 for a SPORTS event. That's just terrible PR and even worse customer service when you asked about it!
The basketball game was very well handled by the coliseum. We found our seats with the help of the usher very quickly. Our seats were excellent. The game was very exciting and my granddaughter had a ball so it was well worth it. I always enjoy going to the coliseum.
It turned out to be a great preseason game, but the seats and location was not ideal for the game. The stadium was dirty and we could not see the score of game. I had to use my smartphone to utilize score updates.
The Nets and Knicks are destined to become rivals over the next few years. The emotion from the crowd and the closeness of the game itself really made this game memorable. However, the Nassau Coliseum is the worst venue in all of pro sports, and I am looking forward to its inevitable demise.
The game was great...but our view was terrible...I paid a little bit more for my tickets bc I didn't want a partially obstructed view...but the view was still obstructed. We couldn't see most of the big screen and therefore couldn't see the score either. I had to follow the score on my iphone! They had flat screen tv's on the walls to make up for the obstructed view, but of course those were not turned on!!!
The energy and excitement was crazy! Love going to Nassau Coliseum-- anywhere you sit is a good seat! Great game!
Had a great time at the game with my 16 year old son, who's a huge BB fan! He loved being so close to the action (Sec 122) - loved every minute of the game! OT was a plus.
