Brooklyn Nets History
Founded in 1967 as a member of the American Basketball Association, the Brooklyn Nets franchise began as the New Jersey Americans before relocating to Long Island for its second season and becoming the Nets. After merging into the NBA for the 1976–77 season, the Nets moved to New Jersey and remained there for 35 seasons before relocating to Brooklyn in 2012.
The Nets closed their ABA era as the league's marquee franchise, reaching the finals in 1972 and then winning championships in 1974 and 1976. The legendary Julius Erving won the league's final three MVP awards. Powered by forward Buck Williams, the Nets made five straight NBA playoff appearances from 1981–82 through the 1985–86 seasons.
In 1991–92, the Nets, propelled by top scorer Dražen Petrović and young catalysts Derrick Coleman and Kenny Anderson, returned to the playoffs, with both Coleman and Petrović earning All-NBA honors in 1993. The arrival of point guard Jason Kidd in 2001 sparked the team's greatest NBA era. Joined by Richard Jefferson, Kenyon Martin and Kerry Kittles, Kidd led the Nets to a franchise-record 52 wins in 2001–02 and back-to-back NBA Finals appearances in 2002 and 2003. With high-flying Vince Carter arriving during the 2004–05 season, the Nets made six straight playoff appearances.
The 2020–21 season was a stellar one for the Nets, as they advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals, losing in the seventh game to eventual NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks. Kevin Durant set an NBA playoff Game 7 record when he scored 48 points, but the Nets came up a bit short.

Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center
A new era for Nets basketball began with the opening of Barclays Center for the 2012–13 season. The Brooklyn Nets’ 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at home when the Nets face off against the Cleveland Cavaliers. i had the most beautiful time at the barclays nets v celtics game. wonderful energy throughout the stadium. i am glad to have checked out the nets store and viewed their new jerseys, though it was packed after the game. entry was easy. i had a fantastic time.

Terrible experience getting into Barclays Centre. Took an hour to get in after I arrived there. No crowd management by stewards meant a total scrum to get to entrance doors and security checks (full airport style) very slow with staff who didn’t try very hard to keep things moving despite it being obvious many people would miss game start. When I finally got in there was no time to get food or drinks or visit the store as the game had already started. Venue and game good once inside (prices very high for food and drinks) but experience of getting in spoiled night.

Never been to Basketball before. The whole experience was crazy fun. We were really entertained by the play and the whole crowd.

Nets have lost but what we'll remember is the show that we could see in Barclays Center. Seats are cumfortable and we could see everything from our seats. Great experience!

I always enjoy myself when I go there and the arena is top notch. People are complaining about food and merchandise being overpriced like it's not like that at every sports venue. The Nets and Brooklyn are in my heart forever!

I went to the game as a Lakers fan and they won! No AD, no Bron, no Kuz. The Building was electric, Lakers fans trace deep. Thank you Barclays for having safety protocols to allow us to have a great experience.
Good seats section 213 (but still unaffordable.) Poor signage for escalator to second floor. Staff gave poor directions to Section 213. Impressed by design of Barclay esp how quickly a large crowd can leave due to the many exits from arena. Teams played poorly second half...fouls, fouls and more fouls....so it was a boring game but that's what happens when players create drama and railroad a coach out of a job...the drama keeps going on the court.
Game was great. They won. Everything is overpriced there. Diet coke for $8. Nets hat for $50. Still going to keep going. Good to root for a decent team with alot of potential.
The Nets dominated the game all night long without giving a lead to the rival team. That kept the excitement going through the evening. We also needed to find food suitable for my girlfriend for lent and we found (to our surprise) a healthy food stand which is right up our alleys. Not only did we eat good, we also enjoyed an exciting game and it was an added bonus that we received a complimentary bobble head to commemorate our night out. I love the Barclays center and can’t wait to go back again for another event.
Everyone was nice and friendly. Got a free picture and signed poster with four of the cheerleaders. Great time overall
