About

Over the course of crafting a 29-album catalog and architecting 40 Billboard #1 singles as a keyboardist, songwriter and producer, Brian Culbertson has charted his own unique course in music. Label him jazz and he makes a funk record. Call him an R&B artist and he drops an acoustic jazz trio collection. And you'd be hard pressed to name another instrumentalist of his ilk who can mount an elaborately designed concert production that will keep him on the road for three consecutive months.

Culbertson burst onto the scene in 1994 with a chart-topping album that he recorded in his college apartment featuring keyboard-led contemporary jazz tracks. Flash forward to present day, Culbertson has been going back and listening more and more to music that inspired him as a young musician such as David Sanborn, The Brecker Bros, Chick Corea, Al Jarreau, Pat Metheny & others in the jazz fusion world.

Whether you're listening to music from "Day Trip" on record or live in concert, you're hearing an eclectic, entertaining and engaging set from an artist at the peak of his power.

  • One of THE Best Concerts EVER

by thebeachisgud on 10/29/25The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

We choose to spend our disposible income on concerts--both near and far. Having attended hundreds, THIS concert (not hyperbole) was one of the top 10 in ~50 years. Seriously. Just go (trust exercise) and you will have a fabulous evening, worth every $.

  • Brian Culbertson Concert

by Vince on 10/29/25The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

I've been following BC on Pandora, YouTube (The Hang), and Facebook for atleast 10 years now. I've seen him live twice at the Charleston Music Hall in Charleston SC, in the fall of 2023 and a few days ago. Both shows were fascinating, brilliant, outstanding and I really had a great time at both. If you get a chance go see him in concert.

I have been listening to Brian Culbertson for years and never saw him in concert. The Music Hall is a great, smaller theater and Brian with the arrangements, lighting and energy...It was one of my favorite concerts I have seen. Thank you Band!!!

  • A Real Jam Session

by Van4 on 10/29/25The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Brian Culbertson and friends were so impressive. He had the best of the best, Patch Stewart from New Orleans and so many craftsmen. 11+ pieces of poetry in motion. The show was like attending a private jam session. I was tuned in the entire evening. A show well worth the money spent. Actually I would love to see it again and so should you.

  • Best performance ever!

  • Good

by AdGd on 10/28/25The Carolina - CharlotteRating: 4 out of 5

Concert awesome staff very friendly. The Balcony setting I would choose someplace else to sit. No legroom if you have the last row in middle section. A gentleman stood last hour of the show not comfortable.

by CJ on 10/28/25The Carolina - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Not only was Brian Culbertson and team high energy, but just super super entertaining. I love their passion and the night just flew by! And the Carolina theater was such a treat. they have couches and cocktail tables to make the experience that much more inviting. Can’t wait to go back there and can’t wait to see another Brian concert.

The show was richly entertaining from beginning to end. Brian is so engaging. Show started on time and just blew up, in a good way. The musical depth of the whole ensemble was incredible. Just a nice mix of energetic and quiet moments. And he plays the trombone too? Come on!!

This was my very first time seeing Mr. Culbertson in concert, and hopefully it won’t be my last. The show was electrifying from the beginning to the end, it was playful, personal and just magnetic. Being a vocalist, I could only dream of being a part of the show. Magnificent job Mr. Culbertson. !!! 🎹🎹🎼

  • Absolutely awesome and mind-blowing! 🎶

by Kasi Thiagarajan on 10/27/25The Carolina - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was full of energy and incredible vibes from start to finish. Brian is truly a crowd-puller — he knows exactly how to keep the energy flowing! The coordination and chemistry among the entire team were unbelievable. I enjoyed every moment… the emotions ran so high that I even had tears in my eyes at times. ❤️ Just one suggestion — the concert started about 20 minutes late, which could have been avoided for the benefit of the 1200+ people in the audience.

  • As always, it was phenomenal. Great music, great venue.

by Brian Fan on 10/27/25The Carolina - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

I love Brian Culbertson. He is one of the most talented artists in the smooth jazz genre. From the first sound to the last, you entertained to the max. If there was a dance floor, everyone would be out of their seats. The band is fantastic too. I don’t have all of the words to describe what a wonderful night it was. Brian delivers every time I see him. Great night and a great venue (the new Carolina Theater).
