About

Over the course of crafting a 29-album catalog and architecting 40 Billboard #1 singles as a keyboardist, songwriter and producer, Brian Culbertson has charted his own unique course in music. Label him jazz and he makes a funk record. Call him an R&B artist and he drops an acoustic jazz trio collection. And you'd be hard pressed to name another instrumentalist of his ilk who can mount an elaborately designed concert production that will keep him on the road for three consecutive months.

Culbertson burst onto the scene in 1994 with a chart-topping album that he recorded in his college apartment featuring keyboard-led contemporary jazz tracks. Flash forward to present day, Culbertson has been going back and listening more and more to music that inspired him as a young musician such as David Sanborn, The Brecker Bros, Chick Corea, Al Jarreau, Pat Metheny & others in the jazz fusion world.

Whether you're listening to music from "Day Trip" on record or live in concert, you're hearing an eclectic, entertaining and engaging set from an artist at the peak of his power.

This was one of the better shows I've been to in a while. Brian Culbrtson puts on a high energy show and really gets the crowd into it, Michael Lington was a great addition to the show they played off each other well. I am looking foprward to seeing them again and would definately recommend this show to everyone

  • Brian Culbertson-SmoothJazz doesn't get any better

Thank you BB Kings for picking up this show and thank you Brian for coming to New York. Unfortunately most of the Smooth Jazz tours have skipped New York since the demise of CD101.9 Smooth Jazz. It's understandable, you can't fill most venues without the daily promotion of a radio station. It was great to see Brian playing to a packed house - insuring his return next year. Keep it up Smooth Jazz fans - come out for these shows . Maybe another network will wake up and see that there is an audience here and New York can regain it' status as the "cutting edge" city for jazz in all it's forms. Happy New Year to all!

We've seen Brian Culberston and his great band 4 times and this show did not disappoint. Brian brings so much energy to the stage that you cannot sit still. His band menbers rock -- Chris is a fantastic drummer and always brings his "A-game" to each performance. Special Guest saxaphonist Michael Lington was awesome too...he showed great emotion and is a consummate musician. Great duet work on the horns (Brian on trombone) added to the sound wave coming from the stage. Great night. Great tunes. Great crowd. Great venue. BB King is a very nice club and of cours...NYC rocks!

  • Brian Culbertson was Fantastic!!!!

I have been so fortunate to have seen Brian Culbertson several times in different venues and I will continue to attend events where he performs. This Christmas show was absolutely wonderful and I was able to enjoy it with members of my family - who now understand my passion for jazz and Brian Culbertson's musical stylings. Michael Lington surprised me, because I have only heard a few of his pieces, but he was just as entertaining, and he has such a charming personality. This show was a great start to our upcoming holidays. Brian Culbertson and Michael Lington were ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!

  • Amazing Brian Culbertson

Brian as always was fantastic. Coupled with Michael the night was unforgettable. Whenever I see Brian play I am just hypnotized. I hear nothing but him playing either the piano, which I love, or the trumpet. He is fierce in every sense of the word.

The concert was a jam. Brian is one of the most talented musicians today. I've never experienced the tickling of the ivories as I did tonight at the Soulful Christmas concert at BB Kings in NYC.. He feels his music and boy does he play it from the soul. It was a great way to start the holiday season.
