About

Over the course of crafting a 29-album catalog and architecting 40 Billboard #1 singles as a keyboardist, songwriter and producer, Brian Culbertson has charted his own unique course in music. Label him jazz and he makes a funk record. Call him an R&B artist and he drops an acoustic jazz trio collection. And you'd be hard pressed to name another instrumentalist of his ilk who can mount an elaborately designed concert production that will keep him on the road for three consecutive months.

Culbertson burst onto the scene in 1994 with a chart-topping album that he recorded in his college apartment featuring keyboard-led contemporary jazz tracks. Flash forward to present day, Culbertson has been going back and listening more and more to music that inspired him as a young musician such as David Sanborn, The Brecker Bros, Chick Corea, Al Jarreau, Pat Metheny & others in the jazz fusion world.

Whether you're listening to music from "Day Trip" on record or live in concert, you're hearing an eclectic, entertaining and engaging set from an artist at the peak of his power.

  • Brian Culbertson was amazing as usual.

by Raytec on 10/19/11Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 3 out of 5

Brian Culbertson always puts on a geat show, but the sound system at the Birchmere leaves a lot to be desired. There were large speakers right above our seats. The concert was so loud my wife and daughter had to use ear plugs. Loud is ok but the sound quality could have been much better.

Brian Culbertson is an entertainer in the true sense of the word. His show is high energy and a lot of fun. I like that his dad was part of his band, accompanying him on several songs.

  • "Last Night" is one of my favorites.

by Myyo on 10/9/11Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first time that I let Brian entertain me in person; and trust me, it was a blast with a full house. I already have approx 4 of his CD's, but seeing him in person was so awesome, I will definitly do that again!!!!!!!

  • Brian Culbertson's High Energy Amazing Performance

by mlrich700 on 10/2/11Chrome Showroom at Santa Fe Station Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

From his high energy entrance to his encore exit, Brian enthralled us with his amazing keyboard skills. This young man with the beautiful spirit seemed to play each tune from somewhere deep down in his soul as though actually becoming a part of his music. He seemed to love, love, love what he was doing as he made these amazing sounds with his keyboards as well as with his trombone. He also showed, many times, his appreciation for his audience throuhgout the show by engaging us as though he REALLY cared about making us happy. His "trick" piano skills were even more amazing---if that is possible---where he played from the back of the keyboards! That was definitely a crowd pleaser. We also had the privilidge of hearing his Dad play trumpet with him. Great band, also. All in all, a great show in every way!!!

  • Awsome concert

    by Gus0410 on 7/12/11Fraze Pavilion - KetteringRating: 5 out of 5

Culbertson and AWB did a fantastic job. I will recommend both to friends. Brian is full of energy and a great entertainer. His music is magnificent, sound was excellent. The entire presentation of B Culbertson was absolutely great. I like AWB very much, too. Considering they are an older band, the band sound just the same as when they first started. Music terrific, borught me back good memories for me and my wife. I will be there next year if they come back to Kettering.

  • As always, Culbertson brings the funk...

by mgdouglas on 7/11/11Fraze Pavilion - KetteringRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Brian Culbertson twice at the Fraze and he always brings it, in a way that the people want to dance in the seats and AWB, in my opinion, haven't lost a beat. AWB started the set, like it was back when they began in music clean, fresh and inspiring. Just what I remembered from my youth. I would do it again if given the chance and I hope to...... Great Job....

  • Brian/Average White Band

by Ninomama on 7/11/11Fraze Pavilion - KetteringRating: 5 out of 5

OMG?? This concert was "OFF THE CHAIN". Average White Band was AWSOME, they still have the sound and they have energy and truly delivered. Brian Culbertson was AWSOME, really energetic, and his style and talent is second to none. Strickly, ON YOUR FEET.!!!!! I would go to this same concert again and again. Even next week. (smile)

  • Brian Culbertson & AWB was UNBELIEVABLE!!!

by proset on 7/11/11Fraze Pavilion - KetteringRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was top notch from beginning to end. The venue is a lovely place, security staff and ushers are always so, so friendly. AWB and Brian Culbertson (and band) were both GREAT shows. They enjoyed themselves so much and it was obvious. The mild rain just before the concert was right on time, to cool things off and make for a wonderful evening. We will be back to the Fraze very, very soon.

Brian and AWBm were fantastic. This is my third time seeing Brian and first for AWB. I have always wanted to see AWB but were never close enoungh. Brian is such a showmen and I love the way he get's into the music when he is playing. It was great to hear all of the old songs by AWB that I used to dance to. The Funk that they bring makes you get up and dance. I would see them time and time again!
