About
Over the course of crafting a 29-album catalog and architecting 40 Billboard #1 singles as a keyboardist, songwriter and producer, Brian Culbertson has charted his own unique course in music. Label him jazz and he makes a funk record. Call him an R&B artist and he drops an acoustic jazz trio collection. And you'd be hard pressed to name another instrumentalist of his ilk who can mount an elaborately designed concert production that will keep him on the road for three consecutive months.
Culbertson burst onto the scene in 1994 with a chart-topping album that he recorded in his college apartment featuring keyboard-led contemporary jazz tracks. Flash forward to present day, Culbertson has been going back and listening more and more to music that inspired him as a young musician such as David Sanborn, The Brecker Bros, Chick Corea, Al Jarreau, Pat Metheny & others in the jazz fusion world.
Whether you're listening to music from "Day Trip" on record or live in concert, you're hearing an eclectic, entertaining and engaging set from an artist at the peak of his power.

The Dream Tour
by Dlvjj on 9/6/12Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5It was outstanding! One of the best concerts I have been to in my life.
These guys are amazing!
by Anonymous on 8/31/12Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5This was one of the best shows we've seen in a long time! They are not only very talented, they have great stage presence and put on a remarkable performance. Well worth every penyy we paid. Please bring them back again.
Jazz with DS & BC was out of this world.
by CnCjazz on 8/29/12Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5Great concert. Fun Fun Fun and loved that they signed autographs afterwards and we got a picture with them.

Loved it! Especially Brian and that trombone! The music was a combination of jazz, funk, and new age. Pretty cool. More funk would have been even better.
Too long between sets
by BoBeers on 8/28/12Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 3 out of 5Brian Culbertson is my all time FAVE smooth jazz performer. I do like David Sanborn, but he seemed a bit run down this time ... The time between the warm up (Patty Peterson, which did a tremendous job energizing the audience) was way too long ... almost a half hour! The techies should of had the equipment/systems up and running within at least 15 minutes. Overall, I would have loved to see more of Brian's work since that's why I was here. Don't get me wrong; I've loved David Sanborn over the years and have seen him many times in the past, but his work as of late hasn't produced the quality I would prefer (just my humble opinion). I would love to see Brian pair up again back in Mpls. with the likes of Marcus Miller, Dave Koz, Richard Elliott, etc. ... some that would be a little brighter and jivier. Normally I give 5 stars at ALL times for Mr. Culbertson.
Amazing
by mthelen on 8/28/12Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5This concert was truly incredible! I had never been to this venue so I was unsure of how the sound would, It was fantastic!! I had seen David Sandborn before but not Brian Culbertson.. Wow! Great duo!
Culbertson is the ultimate performer!
by spiceyticey on 8/27/12Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5I saw Brian Culbertson at the Minnesota Zoo and I didn't think that he could come close to that performance but I was not disappointed - he really did a great job with David Sanborn.
Relaly good show that could have been great
by Taiga on 8/27/12Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5Really good concert, from beginning with great set by Patty Peterson and then really rich, sometimes humorous, always great musicianship from Sanborn and Culbertson. Worst part? The audience members who couldn't be present to the concert and didn't have a thought for the folks around them. Perpetual snaps of cell phone cameras and one woman who brought her flipping iPad and took picture after picture, holding the brightly lit device above her head, blocking views and pulling attention from the stage where it belonged. Bloomington PAC: Please make announcements that this isn't allowed. Please enforce it. Audience members: have some care for those of us who paid to see the show and not your cell or iPad screens. And TicketMaster, stop encouraging people to do this by asking for uploads of pictures and video. Aren't you violating your own terms and conditions about IP rights?
The Dream Tour - Sanborn and Culbertson

Venue and Performance Over The Top!
by Tangotoo on 8/27/12Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5Still a a student, I've done Studio Recording Engineer, Sound Reinforcement, Performer, DJ and Studio Sideman for 45 years.A1 performances, even in the nose bleed section all was good. close up parking and no waiting at the will call desk. I'll look forward to more Smooth Jazz performances at the PAC and it's a given, I'll track down Brian and Dave where ever they perform. Seamed to be a lot of tech trouble on stage. Didn't distract from the performance. TJH
They burnt the place to the ground!! (Amazing)
by BaffledbyLove on 8/27/12Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5What an experience. Not only did we feel like we were listening to world class musicians, I don't know how anyone can top the music we heard that night. One of the best concerts I've ever been to in 30 years. I wouldn't have thought you could have 3 keyboard players, two dummers and keep the sound clean, tight, loose and interesting all night. I don't know how but they pulled it off. Multiple standing ovations, a booming encore from the crowd. I didn't even know about Brian Culbertson before two weeks ago, I bought the tickets because I wanted to hear David Sanborn. I would go next time just to hear Brian play the Trombone. Burnsville Performing Arts Center one of the best venues for an intimate concert experience. When Richard Marx was there last year, it was like having a personal conversation with him in your living room
The Dream Tour was Dreamy!!!!
by Frauengel on 8/27/12Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5This concert was fabulous! High energy, great music, wonderful venue. Both David Sanborn and Brian Culbertson are very talented musicians. They played for nearly 2 hours. I enjoyed all the music. All the musicians on stage that night were wonderful. Would go again to see both these extremely talented musicans!!! LOVED the show!!!!!
LOVE!!!
by SarahWI on 8/27/12Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5It isn't easy to get into the Twin Cities for concerts, but this was well worth the drive!! I saw Brian Culbertson at the Dakota in the Spring, and I've always wanted to see David Sanborn...mission accomplished! I haven't been to the Burnsville PAC before: very nice venue, and the free parking was a welcome change from going to a show downtown. Brian has more energy than one person should be allowed, he is a magician on the keyboard. Kind of a shame that he is in the "Smooth Jazz" genre, because his music is so much more than that. David was *very* close to matching his energy level...not bad for someone 20+ years older! The band was tight and talented. I can't say enough about what a great show this was, and if you haven't seen it yet....GO!!
Brian Culbertson why hadn't we heard of him before
by HunyHafner on 8/27/12Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5David Sanborn is truly a legend. What more is there to say? Brian Culbertson is amazing. Can't wait till he's back in the Twin Cities!!!
This concert ROCKED
by Enjay99 on 8/27/12Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5This was an amazing concert - we definitely got our money's worth. Patty Peterson was the warm up and I enjoyed getting to know her music. David Sanborn and Brian Culbertson and their band were incredible, entertaining us with a full-tilt boogie the entire 90 (?) minutes. A very memorable evening.

Brian Culbertson and David Sanborn came out and humbly entertained the audience beyond even the highest expectations. Their professionalism and musicianship goes unmatched, playing a variety of contemporary jazz, funk, and standards. If only the auditorium was a dance floor...
Culbertson and Sanborn were OUTSTANDING
