About

Over the course of crafting a 29-album catalog and architecting 40 Billboard #1 singles as a keyboardist, songwriter and producer, Brian Culbertson has charted his own unique course in music. Label him jazz and he makes a funk record. Call him an R&B artist and he drops an acoustic jazz trio collection. And you'd be hard pressed to name another instrumentalist of his ilk who can mount an elaborately designed concert production that will keep him on the road for three consecutive months.

Culbertson burst onto the scene in 1994 with a chart-topping album that he recorded in his college apartment featuring keyboard-led contemporary jazz tracks. Flash forward to present day, Culbertson has been going back and listening more and more to music that inspired him as a young musician such as David Sanborn, The Brecker Bros, Chick Corea, Al Jarreau, Pat Metheny & others in the jazz fusion world.

Whether you're listening to music from "Day Trip" on record or live in concert, you're hearing an eclectic, entertaining and engaging set from an artist at the peak of his power.

One of the best jazz performances I've ever seen! My first time seeing Brian Culbertson, but he'll never play this area again when I won't be sitting as close as I can get. He was awesome!

Seen him three times. Just keeps getting better. His new(?) band was very tight. The whole evening was great entertainment and musicianship. The sound was cranked up a bit for my taste, but it was better than many of the Station shows I've been to where all you can hear is the bass drum and bass guitar. They really need to seek out some better sound men.

  • Brian Culbertson "WOW" Love Him Sooooo Much

I am there every time that Brian Culbertson is there. Just love him. Any of the smooth Jazz guys I am always there. Brian Culbertson is an excellent show every time I have seen him. Also love: Richard Elliot, Boney James, Michael Lington, Gerald Albright, Rick Braun, Dave Koz, Eric Marienthal, Keiko Matsui, Walter Beasley, I could really go on and on and fill this entire box up. Please bring all the smooth jazz artists in that you can, I will be there every time. Really every single time. Thank you for bringing them. Paula D. Harper

Since my guy and I love to dance so the only thing missing was a dance floor . We were sitting on the 5th row and were amazed at how talented the musicians were. After the concert we were telling everyone about the female singer, Salina Albright. Everyone in the group was outstanding musicians. My friend had given me a Culbertson CD a few months ago, and this concert was a great choice for his Birthday Celebration! The Dancers~

Not being familiar with Brian's Music, only hearing him on Pandora or YouTube, since we were on Vacation in Vegas, I figured , why not. Well to my Surprise, Brian came out on Fire and Smoked the Whole Stage for 2 straight Hours..... If you haven't seen him in Concert, this man has a whole lot of Soul, I guarantee that you will not be Disappointed

I met several friends in Vegas ... JUST to hear Brian Culbertson. He and his band were truly awesome. (Our seats were superb.) Being a lover of funk I so enjoyed the bass player, the vocalist and the ever entertaining Mr. Culbertson. He continues to refine his music. To me he is the best smooth jazz performer on the planet. I will see him perform whenever and wherever I can. Thank you for always being a gentleman, Brian. You NEVER disappoint.

Brian Culbertson is amazing!!!! He stage performs and musical skills are unmatched. He has his own unique style and has mastered it. His band and background vocals were on point. They never missed a beat and could hold there own. I hope to see him again next year. This was my first time seeing him and it will not be my last. Thanks to my buddy D. Washington for putting me upon him.

  • Brian Culbertson is the sexiest keyboard player.

by Gadjetgirl on 7/29/13Chene Park - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

We went to Chene Park last year to see David Sanborn and Brian Culbertson. Actually, we went to see David Sanborn, we didn't know who Brian was. But that night we fell in love with Brian. We couldn't wait to come back this year to hear him again. We have never heard anyone play the keyboard like he does. We were so excited, we brought friends with us. However this year I have to say we were a little bit disappointed. This year he had a band playing with him and 2 singers. We felt the band drowned Brian out a bit. Brian Culbertson is sooooooooo fantastic on his own, he doesn't need a band. We came to see HIM and no one else. The best part of the night is when the band took a break and Brian played his keyboard all alone on the stage. He is by far the best keyboard/piano player I have ever heard and a sexy player at that. Loose the band Brian, you don't need them!!! We will come back next year if he plays in Detroit again.

  • Best Jazz Concert Ever

by dedemel on 7/29/13Chene Park - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I was blown away by Brian Culbertson's concert. Everything was great. The weather, the beautiful Detroit River in the background, and oh boy the Special Guest(Kimme Horne). Great opening. We are so glad we got tickets to see that great performance. What can we say: but it's just the best jazz concert ever!!!!!

  • Spectacular!!!!!!

Highly disappointed that Brian did not do a encore. That is the shortest concert of his I have been to. Very disappointing. It was a perfect weather night for a concert, so no excuse there.

Fantastic entertainment. Great seat and sound system was good? Although close to stage volume was managable
