ADAM SAVAGE & MICHAEL STEVENS BRING YOU

BRAIN CANDY LIVE

It’s what your mind is hungry for…

Adam Savage, one of television's most loved personalities, has joined forces with Michael Stevens, one of YouTube's biggest stars and they're coming to a theater near you. They’re bringing along more than three tons of their crazy toys, incredible tools and mind-blowing demonstrations for a celebration of curiosity that’s an interactive, hands-on, minds-on theatrical experience like no other.

Brain Candy Live has been described as "A cross between TED Talks and the Blue Man Group."  Savage and Stevens can’t wait to unleash their collective sense of wonder, curiosity and fun and they’re inviting you and your friends and family to join-in and get your minds messy. Adam and Michael’s Brain Candy Live experience is like a two-hour play date with Walt Disney, Willy Wonka and Albert Einstein.

Ask yourself, "Is it possible to 3D print a human - live onstage? Can you slow down the effects of gravity with something we throw away every day? What happens if everyone on earth jumps in the air at exactly the same time? Can anyone bottle-up a magical invisible substance and use it to power a rocket?" Discover all this and more as Adam and Michael entertainingly answer questions, question answers and talk Mother Nature into doing some things she’s never done before!

Smart is the new superpower and two of this planet's most entertaining everyday heroes are coming to your town to rescue you and your family from boredom. Join them as they use their secret recipe of fun, surprise, excitement (and just a pinch of danger) to cook-up and deliver a giant batch of magical Brain Candy to every mind in the audience.

Lots of fun. Aimed lower than we expected

by Franklin56 on 3/1/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

I took my geeky 22-yr-old son and 2 cousins, and we had a good time, laughed a lot, were amazed a few times. Seems like it was aimed at younger kids with less knowledge -- which makes sense. So we liked it a lot, even though some of the time it felt slow to us, maybe because we knew some of the material, maybe because it felt a little over-explained at times and could have packed in a few more items.

    Lamesauce

by EsteDitty on 3/1/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

There were a few gems of scientific interest that perked my brain up, but for the most part I was bored. I wish Adam Savage had taken a larger role on stage, but Vsauce did quite a bit of the talking. While his intimate YT videos are great, I don't think his personality fits the scale of the stage. The jokes were not great, and the audience awkwardly clapped at them. Transitions could have been snappier. Their energy level was great, but the show just didn't gel or hold my interest. I believe we saw one of the first shows of the tour, so perhaps it tightens up as it goes across the country. Children might be more easily entertained, but I didn't think it was worth the ticket cost at all.

    Fun but not great

by jasjer99 on 3/1/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

We love Mythbusters and Michael Stevens' videos also but this was just ok. A few good laughs and some interesting science but not as good as we hoped.

    Fantastic science entertainment

by RRMontclair on 3/1/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

Full of joy and play and exuberant curiosity. The best art and science see the world with a child's eyes. If only more adults still had access to the wonder and mystery of seeing the world as it is. Who needs religion? Actual truth is astounding and beautiful.

Dumbed down to the lowest denominator

by eOCR on 3/1/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

Pretty anticlimactic, but I guess should have been expected. How can you make a show about science interesting for little kids and adults at the same time. Was expecting a little more.

    Memorable and fun show!

by Kellier56 on 3/1/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

Michael Stevens and Adam Savage are just like what you see on TV. They're fun and knowledgeable. The experiments were big and exciting!

My kids, ages 10 and 12.--who are Mythbusters fans, really loved it. I don't think it's for kids under 8 though because the concepts were a little complex.

    Brain Candy wasn't very sweet

by DissatisfiedJJ on 2/26/17Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric - Baltimore

Less than impressive. Seemed very disorganized. They forgot to set up experiments, ran out of things and a couple things didn't work...they couldn't even get the air gun to shoot a tshirt into the crowd to work. Their biggest experiment was an epic fail...the hair dryer powered hover craft. The most exciting part, which wasn't very exciting, was them shooting a trash can full of ping pong balls into the crowd. All in all a pretty lame experience. Would not waste the money or time.

Brain Candy Live was a real letdown

by tomii on 2/26/17Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric - Baltimore

I was really hoping for something akin to a science-based magic show - where things were done to provide some fascination with science & technology, etc. But it was not. The entire show was loosely about air and its interactions with things, had little "snap" or "pizzaz." It felt hokey. I went based on knowing a bit about Jamie & Michael, and hoping some of the Mythbustes and VSauce things would come together nicely as a treat. Instead... bleah. I'm an engineer. This show was not for me. My kids might've liked this show, or perhaps "fanbois" I wouldn't recommend it.

    Great show

An excellent show for children or anyone interested in really nerdy stuff. Great time with two excellent showmen

Brain Candy Live wasn't even sweet.

by TheGreyKnight on 2/26/17Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric - Baltimore

If you want to hear a long story about how the parents didn't get along and the father slept in the basement with the argon gas coming up out of the ground (someone did shout out a correction to let them know it"s radon gas not argon). If you want to hear a long story about college days and failing to be able to build a prop. If you want to see failed experiments that didn't work,( hover board wouldn't take off, water didn't boil because someone forgot to plug in the electric coffee pot, smoke machine didn't work every time). Then this show is for you, not me. Most of the show dealt with air, air movement and boring stories, I wasn't impressed.

    Not great

by Sciencefan on 2/26/17Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric - Baltimore

These two guys are very entertaining, but the science and the wows during the show are very very forgettable. I am paying $50 a ticket, I want to see something that I have never seen before. The experiments done on stage were elementary. This show would be great for elementary or middle schoolers but not much else and not worth $50.
