Boys Like Girls are a pop-rock band that formed in 2005. The quartet skyrocketed up the charts with anthemic singles like “The Great Escape” and “Love Drunk,” with the latter’s accompanying music video featuring High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale. Their two breakthrough singles were followed by a sweeping emo-tinged ballad featuring Taylor Swift, “Two Is Better Than One,” which helped the band’s second album (2009’s Love Drunk) land in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. In 2012, the band’s frontman Martin Johnson began writing/producing music for everyone from blink-182 to Avril Lavigne, leading to Boys Like Girls going on hiatus (reforming sporadically to tour between 2016 and 2020). In May 2023, the band released “Blood and Sugar,” the first single from their upcoming fourth album and their first new song in over a decade.

Amazing concert. Great place, great band, great time! We had 2 hours of Boys Like Girls straight! Was Amazing!
Performance was high energy. They had great stage presence. Interacted with the audience. Sound quality was off a couple of times, but was quickly corrected. setlist was good, flowed well. No opening act when I saw them, so the concert lasted exactly 90 minutes.
The band was really great! I've now started liking them 1000x more! I just thought they could have done a little more with the croud who was behind row 5. They interacted GREAT with the first couple rows, but me and my friends were in the middle of the middle section and we felt like everyone upfront were the only ones at the actual concert. I LOVE Paul DiGiovanni!!!
everyone should have stayed for autographs no matter what. it was not fair that they cut you off. there should be more tables for autographs
My son and his friend attended this concert yesterday. The tickets were a graduation gift. The boys are fifteen and this was my son's first concert event on his own. He had a great time as did his friend. I was a little dismayed to hear that $30 tickets were buy one get one free the week of, and that the headliner, One Republic, cancelled. But they seemed not to care.
This is my second Summer Jam Concert and I was not let down. I loved all the acts but it was especially amazing to listen and see Natasha. I was moved my her performance. I look forward to the next Summer Jam Concert. I was there I the first Summer Jam at the Altamont Fairgrounds and loved every second especially when for the very first time I heard Natasha and from that moment on I have become a fan. Boys Like Girls was a great closing act. It was a wonderful surprise to have some old school as well.
I was a little disappointed that the headliner band (OneRepublic) wasn't available and instead they were filled with 10 year old cheerleaders, not quite the same. Boys Like Girls and Natasha Beddingfield were amazing though.
I would never go again. I wouldn't recommond to a friend. Thank god I only paid $45 for it. The acts were good. Miranda was amazing!!! I didn't realized she was going to be that good live for someone so young and fresh. Shontelle's bass WAS WAY TOOO LOUD!!! I had ear plugs in and still got a headache. I didn't realize One Repulic had canceled until the day of the show. One of the group I wanted to see. My BIGGEST COMPLAINT is THERE WAS WAYYYYYYY TO MUCH TIME IN BETWEEN ACTS. 30 minutes are you kidding me. You started losing my interest. I saw alot of people leaving and complaining because of it.
Great concert with good bands that all played their hit songs. High energy, good music, good crowd, safe and friendly environment. I went there with a female friend and we were both about a decade older than all the fans (minus chaperones). [Thus, beer lines were non-existent]. We had a great time dancing; although, we're both content we're not "17 again."
One of the best shows I've been to. Add more awesome bands and subtract all the annoying little girls, and it would have been the best by far.
The timing was a bit strange. I expected the small and main stages to be playing at the same time, similar to Warped Tour... All of the small stage acts played before the main stage area was opened to everyone. The bands were great though. It was definitely a good time!
All the bands were great. A full day of awesome entertainment.
Bamboozle was incredible. I got to see All Time Low, Boys Like Girls, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Forever the Sickest Kids, LMFAO, Third Eye Blind and many other up and coming bands. The shows were full of energy and the music was loud! :)
Good show. Low turn out due to extreme hot weather. Bands put a a good show regardless. Newer opening acts allowed photos with fans after each set. Everyone in seats were allowed in the pit due to low turn out for bigger bands. Daughter (13) loved it. Joel from Good Charlotte spoke to her in crowd and lead singer from Boys Like Girls gave her a guitar pick, so she was extremely happy.
Even though the gates opened and hour too late, the bands were amazing. My favorite of the Night was all time low. They put on a heck of a good show, the same with Forever the Sicket Kids. I am Planning on coming next year for sure.
Altogether a phenomenal show band after band after band; My friend called it the best day of her life. There were some things that puzzled us, though, one was the selection of the order of the bands, and/or some of the choices, but when there are so many bands I suppose you'll be able to find something that will please everyone. The first two acts, both small stagers called Drive A and Mercy Mercedes brought the energy right up front with power and personability, but then there were some lower-key performances that really brought things to a lull. There is no blaming the bands or performers, this small stage portion of the show presented a grand opportunity for some newbies to get on that stage and get their names out there. Instead of trying to remember everyone that toughed the small stage though I will just move on with a reminder to hit up Drive A (who provided the hand fans for those who waited in line) and Mercy Mercedes and see what they have to say. A number of other bands also showed up to occupy tents and I will throw out there that the boys of Streaker, though not performing, found a way to put the bug in your ear that went beyond the stickers and handshakes; the members of Streaker moved around the lines pre-show, shared ideas and put paired headphones on you and your concert buddy so you could sample their good stuff. Sounds good Streaker I'll be looking for you, soon. Then came the main shows on the nTelos Pavilion mainstage. It was a little puzzling why they chose to do all the small stage shows up front and all the big stage acts later, a switching back and forth pattern would have been more beneficial to the bands that need to set up/load out. Each of the major acts was limited to 5-7 songs right through the headliner. Perhaps switching stages back and forth would have optimized time per the stages and the majors could have squeezed in 1 more song each. This brings about the other puzzler of the night; the order of the major acts. Perhaps the best known and strongest acts of the show going in were Simple Plan, Good Charlotte and 3rd Eye Blind. Yes, the night was clearly about sharing the stage, but I'm not in the band and for those of us down in the seats, lawns, floors it needs to be about sharing the messages and the experiences. 3rd Eye Blind, based on years in the spotlight, could have justifiably been the headliners, but they were stuck right in the middle at fourth of six. During their show I caught on though that they were stepping back; 3rd Eye Blind chose to offer more subdued show and concentrated on the soulfulness of their new CD. Sad for me, my first 3rd Eye Blind show was capped with Jumper, a song that shows they just don't get the deeper feelings of the person they wrote it toward, and none of their other three really good energetic songs from previous releases. Sorry that's your six songs, move on. Simple Plan rode in on sheer performance quality and strong messagy songs; second up. Good Charlotte and All Time Low really rocked the audience with a demand that the crowd be all allowed to come to the floor, regardless of ticket. Both kept it going through contact with the crowd, total energy performance and total rule of the stage. Good Charlotte's boys hit the stage third and All Time Low was fifth. Perhaps sensing that the order was wrong, Low was bolstered with the best lights and effects to that point -- gotta build the people up since the last act was next. I'm sure that Boys Like Girls is a great band and does fine work, but really they play to the kiddies and live, for now, on pop quality rather than message. They had a fine light show and sounded clear and hard, which I could tell as I and my travelling companion walked to the car. Neither I nor her, admittedly from two separate walks of life, could find a single reason to stay for Boys Like Girls. We both had slightly different ideas of the ideal line-up, but neither had Boys Like Girls at the headline position. In fact the first of the big stage bands, 4Ever the Sickest Kids, deserved a higher position in the line up for years on the beat and overall street credit. I have deliberately saved touching on the first big band for the end because of this contrast. Sickest Kids has been good to Hampton Roads; though this is my first time seeing them, I've spend years hearing on the radio that they'd be playing somewhere in town. Based on that and the strength and energy of their performance they also deserve to step up a little higher in the lineup. Again, I did have a good time and this was a marvelous show, the look in my best friend's eyes when she got to meet Simple Plan and find out just how they are in person, when she got to rock out at the front with SP & GC, and my chance to experience all these bands new or old was well worth it. Go to Bamboozle Roadshow.
From start to finish 13 bands played, it was a lot of great music for the price. All of the bands sounded great and seemed to be having the time of their lives. It was a very hot humid day but many of the acts on the second stage were hanging around after their sets signing autographs and getting their pictures taken with fans. I had purchased the Boys Like Girls package, the guys all signed tour posters and then had pictures taken with their fans. It was amazing, I took my daughter and niece, they were both thrilled!!! The guys in the band were very friendly and appreciative of their fans. Overall it was an excellent experience!
Awesome concert!!! I enjoyed All Time Low and Good Charlotte the most! :)
The concerts were amazing and all the bands preformed very good
I was leery of how well organized this show would be with so many groups in such a small place, but I was pleasantly surprised. Although the doors were supposed to open at noon, we weren't allowed to enter until 12:30p. It was extremely hot and there weren't enough areas for shade, so keeping hydrated was a main concern. Luckily, I discovered the snow cones for $4. The show began with less-known groups on a smaller stage in the main vendor area. They were really good. I expect to see these bands become much better known in the near future. The gates to allow access to the actual pavillion area were not open until about 4p. When they finally were open, everyone was extremely grateful to get out of the sun. Security did a great job keeping the smokers away from the general crowd at the stage and to keep everyone in line. The bands were amazing!!!!!! Everyone was extremely interactive with the crowd, which really helped keep the mood of all of the sweaty, tired people high.
