About

Boys Like Girls are a pop-rock band that formed in 2005. The quartet skyrocketed up the charts with anthemic singles like “The Great Escape” and “Love Drunk,” with the latter’s accompanying music video featuring High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale. Their two breakthrough singles were followed by a sweeping emo-tinged ballad featuring Taylor Swift, “Two Is Better Than One,” which helped the band’s second album (2009’s Love Drunk) land in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. In 2012, the band’s frontman Martin Johnson began writing/producing music for everyone from blink-182 to Avril Lavigne, leading to Boys Like Girls going on hiatus (reforming sporadically to tour between 2016 and 2020). In May 2023, the band released “Blood and Sugar,” the first single from their upcoming fourth album and their first new song in over a decade.

  • Boys like Girls- sound even better live!!!

    by Lanie14 on 8/16/16The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Music: amazing. Stage presence amazing and friendly. Lights: best lights I've ever seen. They really sounded just like the album if not better. They rock!!!! Want to see them again.

  • Once of the best nights ever!!

    by missy91 on 8/15/16Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

It was so amazing getting to hear songs from their 2006 debut album live! I've been a fan ever since I heard that album. This is my second time seeing them and they are better every time I see them! I was really close, it was great seeing them so close. I really appreciated they played all the songs on the album and some others even. They sounded amazing live. There was even an onstage proposal. At one point before the last few songs, martin asked that everyone put their phone away and just enjoy the music which I thought was nice to be able to just listen and enjoy. I can't wait to see them again!

  • Fantastic

Boys Like Girls was fantastic! the song choices were also great! Lots of energy, crowd screaming, they were exactly what i came for! I've seen them before and look forward to seeing them again, thanks guys! Thanks again John for coming out to talk to your fans, you are amazing! AAR was a disappointment! it was my first time seeing them and I probably won't make another effort. Tyson was definitely on drugs and did not interact at all with the audience. he jumped around like crazy and didn't care about us. I was also disappointed in the song choices. None of their classic good ol songs. I know they are promoting their new album, but still he should play some classic ones! Lastly, when it came to the meet and greet, they would not let us take pictures or anything. it sucked. sorry boys.

  • Boys Like Girls were Epic!!! AAR sucked...

by Anonymous on 10/12/12Barry Event Center (Collage Stadium) - MarquetteRating: 3 out of 5

Saw the show with the Ready Set, Boys Like Girls, and AAR... Ready set was pretty good, not my style of music... Boys like Girls was amazing!!! Very good with getting the crowd excited, great music, got right down by the people in front and sang right by them. Even called a girl up from the crowd to sing with him. Vocals were great, very personable, great music. Loved them, every one in the concert was raving about how good they were...wish they would have played longer. I'm wasn't a hard core Boys like Girls listener, but now after hearing them in concert I will be!!! Excellent band, thanks guys keep up the good work!!! All American Rejects was -VERY- disappointing. They were the ones we were most pumped to see...he came out and was obviously drunk and stoned. Was forgetting his own lyrics, his voice was terrible...writhing on the floor which messed up his singing even more. The rest of the band was good, good guitar solos ect. But Tyson RUINED it... Not to mention he was very vulgar like if i was a parent I would NOT TAKE MY CHILD TO SEE IT...Like other reviews said he did swear the F bomb alot, but it was the vulgarity that really made me mad...He was talking about going to strip clubs, saying humiliating things about girls ect...having group sex at clubs with his band. Obviously guys do stuff like that, but to say it in front of a huge crowd with little kids? I was shocked. The singing and vulgarity was so annoying we left, as we were leaving there were lots of other people leaving too...even the 18ish girls and guys in front of us said it was a "disaster". Our whole group of friends (13 of us) left after the 5th song. Even the guys in our group who have attended a lot of rock concerts said they have never seen the like. If AAR would have invited a girl up to stage from the crowd like Boys Like Girls did I would be afraid for the girl that Tyson would start groping her on stage...lol. It was so awful, i have lost all respect for them as a band, and it has ruined their music for me. I will never listen to them in the same way again. Save your ears some pain and don't go to AAR, and if your parents and don't want to have to explain to your 8 yr old what a bunch of these explicit sex references are don't take them... If your going to attend this concert, go for The Ready Set...Boys Like Girls...but don't be shocked if your dissapointed by AAR...

  • Put on an awesome show!

    by Mantha087 on 10/12/12Utica Memorial Auditorium - UticaRating: 5 out of 5

My sister and I went and saw them together. We did the meet and greet package and they were so nice! All bands put on an amazing show, even the opening act! We had a blast and would def go again. Maybe in Rochester in December? :)

  • by elliepooh on 10/1/12Utica Memorial Aud - UticaRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was amazing! It has been my dream to not only see an All-American concert but to meet them! And the other bands were great too! Wasn't a fan of the amount of middle school aged kids there but that's to be expected.

  • Perfection

    by miszfaithx3 on 9/28/12Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

The Ready Set, The Rejects and especially Boys Like Girls were phenomenal.

  • by Anonymous on 9/25/12Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

The concert overall was amazing. The bands were top notch, and majority of the people were nice too. However there are always those few people who try to ruin your night. I was so siked that BLG had a meet and greet then stayed after the show to sign autographs and take pictures.

  • Awesome show!!!

    by Giants02122 on 9/24/12Starland Ballroom - SayervilleRating: 5 out of 5

The All American Rejects were pretty good, however Boys Like Girls stole this show! The Ready Set was a nice addition, but they are an up and coming band so you really couldn't get too mad at them for playing songs that the majority of non Ready Set fans haven't heard before. All American Rejects played old songs, new songs and some deeper cuts. Pretty good. Overall BLG was pretty great! Played the three new songs off their upcoming album, and also played a lot of songs from their first album and some of the big hits off "Love Drunk". Missed at least one hit song, "Heart, Heart, Heartbreak". No idea why they didn't play it. Went through every other hit song, "Thunder", "The Great Escape", "Hero/Heroine", "Love Drunk", "Be Your Everything", "Two is Better Than One (with an audience member singing TSwift's part). Loved meeting them before the show too. Also, the band stayed after to meet the audience instead of playing an encore!

  • LOVE LOVE BOYS LIKE GIRLS

by DizzyGirly on 9/24/12Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

Huge Boys like Girls & All American Rejects fan so the concert was great. We were up close by the stage & they both rocked. Boys Like Girls had a great meet & greet before the show & my daughter got some great pics. After the show they stayed & took more pics & gave autographs with fans.

  • Worst concert ever

    by Netter2 on 9/22/12Utica Memorial Aud - UticaRating: 1 out of 5

My husband and I were so very disappointed with this show. Boys Like Girls played for 30 minutes and were good. Maybe they should have played longer and made this show better. We love the All American Rejects and were excited to see them. But never again. The lead singer started singing and we looked at each other and said, "There is something wrong with his mic." He sounded terrible. We kept waiting for something to change but it didn't. The problem was not with the venue because we have seen many bands there and they sounded great. The lead singer of American Rejects had to be drunk or high. He couldn't say three words without swearing. He went on and on about how sexy he is and how women want to do him. Not after this show, buddy. They played for only 50 minutes and seemed like they couldn't care less about being there. We will not be going to see them ever again.

This was possibly the best concert i have seen at Starland Ballroom. Screamed my head off like a little fan girl when Jordan from The Ready Set came On stage. I loved how my friend Kat was brought on stage to watch All American Rejects! Fantastic night <3 they all need to come back again!

  • BoyslikeGirls/AAR/The Ready Set AMAZINGGGGG!!!!!

by foreverandever on 9/21/12Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

This was by far the best concert I have ever been to! Just the fact that BLG personally met their fans without buying a meet and greet just shows how humble they are! All three bands have amazing vocals and chemistry with each other and it was just an enjoyable experience! EVERYONE GO SEE THIS CONCERT YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!! They play old and new songs <3

  • All American Rejects amazing.

all three bands were awesome! and amazingly talented. Every one was full of energy and connected with the crowd. The All American Rejects Meet and Greet was cool they had pre signed posters so they had time for pictures.
