About

Boys Like Girls are a pop-rock band that formed in 2005. The quartet skyrocketed up the charts with anthemic singles like “The Great Escape” and “Love Drunk,” with the latter’s accompanying music video featuring High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale. Their two breakthrough singles were followed by a sweeping emo-tinged ballad featuring Taylor Swift, “Two Is Better Than One,” which helped the band’s second album (2009’s Love Drunk) land in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. In 2012, the band’s frontman Martin Johnson began writing/producing music for everyone from blink-182 to Avril Lavigne, leading to Boys Like Girls going on hiatus (reforming sporadically to tour between 2016 and 2020). In May 2023, the band released “Blood and Sugar,” the first single from their upcoming fourth album and their first new song in over a decade.

I would like to thank Boys Like Girls for such an amazing night and the best birthday ever. I would also like to thank Bryan from BLG, for meeting me, telling me Happy Birthday, and annoucing it on stage, during the set. Thank you Martin from BLG for singing Happy Birthday to me. That was a night I will never forget. I'll make sure to be at the next concert when you guys are in Ohio.

  • purely awesome!!

by boyslikegirlslover on 10/17/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

simply put into words i loved the concert! most of the opening acts were great! a rocket to the moon and the maine pretty much ripped the stage! this was my very first concert and i didn't know what to expect. but it was at the lifestyle community pavillion, a small venue. but because it was small there was no such thing as a bad seat! the only thing that bothered me was that there was sooo many people who just kept shoving, but what do you expect it is a concert after all! ;) it was amazing when blg came on. seeing people who i listen to their music daily, is within 30 feet of me. they played amazing! they sounded just like their ablum live and it was lots of fun. the stage lighting was great too! it pretty much fit every song! the concert went by sooooooo fast and it's a shame because it was easily the best night of my life. next time blg comes back i'm definetly going again :) BLG<3

by boyslikeashley on 10/16/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

I must say, I have waited a very long time for this show. And I really loved it. All the bands were great and I had a total blast. All the bands were amazing and they all pulled off some great energy from the crowd. I would honesly say that if you didn't go, you should've been there. It was the best show ever!

Great concert. The bands appeared by their popularity with BLG closing. The music meshed well together and it was highly entertaining and crowd pleasing.

  • The most fun I have had at a concert

by Raebabe on 10/16/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

wow. so it was a sold-out show. the lineup consisted of disco curtis, versaemerge, a rocket to the moon, the maine, and boys like girls. cobra starship was suppose to be ther, but had some award show to go to so that was pretty disappointing. Disco curtis was really good. I think one of them said hello Buffalo, but the lead singer said Columbus after so it's all good. Versaermerge was alright. I'm not that big of a fan. The drummer for A Rocket to the Moon played for them. Rocket was very good. They performed very well. THE MAINE. oh my lanta it was the first time I had seen them live in concert and it was absolutely amazing. They sounded incredible and I never wanted them to leave the stage. Boys Like Girls was really good. They said they were going to play extra since Cobra wasn't there, but in reality they really didn't play that much. We were very surprised. They ended but came back out with two songs for an encore and the lead singer went crowd surfing. It was awesome. They had a lot of merch for each of the bands and you could meet everyone but BLG after the show either inside or out. They really did a great job of meeting their fans. I definitely reccomend that you hit up a show near you but wear little clothing bc you will get very sweaty very quickly (:

  • Boys like girls was amazing

    by TaylorMarie33 on 10/16/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

I loved the show and meeting them. but they told us to be there at 4:30 and we waited in the cold for and hour and a half and only got to take a picture and give them a hug. i wish it could have been longer and could have hung out with them for a while!

  • Cobra Starship No Shows

by TheRealGilly on 10/16/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 3 out of 5

Disco Curtis opens the show. Kicked it off right when the doors opened so that was kind of stupid. Not a chance to settle in. Versaemerge came on next not a bad band but the singer moves in an awkward fashion. Rocket to the Moon followed them and blew like the wind. Next up was The Maine, the tweenies at the concert loved them. Finally Boys Like Girls, they had a great show with the lights and the punk pop sound. Now the bad, didn't find out that Cobra starship was a no show till Disco Curtis was saying how great it was to play with everyone else on the card. Cobra Starship can kiss my rear end, I went in with high expectations, however they were killed off, I guess I was luck Cobra Starship's live shows have gotten horrible reviews.

I have seen boys like girls before, but I have never seen them have this much energy for a show. It was absolutely unforgettable. The Maine, Rocket to the Moon, and Versaemerge were all totally awesome as well. This night truly was unforgettable!

  • Boys Like Girls was amazing!

by ErinLynn on 7/30/09Pier Six Concert Pavilion - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was awesome! All the performers were good. Boys Like Girls put on a great show. I was so happy to see that they sounded like they did on thier cd (or maybe even better) when they were playing live. I would deffinately go see them again. I had an awesome time. I suggest trying to get closer seats because the band really does interact with their crowd. The Veronicas were great as well. The other two were not bad either. Overall, it was a great night!

  • Best concert ever

by Texass on 7/29/09Pier Six Concert Pavilion - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great concert at Baltimore's beautiful Inner Harbour. It was well organized with plenty of security. From start to finish each band was very entertaining.

  • Boys Like Girls finale in Botlimore: So worth it!

by KimberlyJ on 7/29/09mtvU Sunblock Music Festival Pier Six Pavilion - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

I must say, the other four bands revved up the crowd, but Boys Like Girls brought it all the way home! With the fog, the lights, and the amazing encore, the cameras were EASILY forgotten when BLG took the stage. Girls were climbing over girls, people were going absolutely CRAZY for them! But, who could blame them? I honestly forgot I was being filmed because they sounded [and looked] amazing! I must say, these guys made my first concert and unforgettable one!

  • Never shout never rocked the house

by LizK on 7/28/09Pier Six Concert Pavilion - BaltimoreRating: 3 out of 5

never shout never was the best part of the whole show in my opinion. Boys like girls seemed to have let fame get to them and I felt they were overrated, Though everyone put on a good show and kept the crowd included throughout their performance.
