About

Boys Like Girls are a pop-rock band that formed in 2005. The quartet skyrocketed up the charts with anthemic singles like “The Great Escape” and “Love Drunk,” with the latter’s accompanying music video featuring High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale. Their two breakthrough singles were followed by a sweeping emo-tinged ballad featuring Taylor Swift, “Two Is Better Than One,” which helped the band’s second album (2009’s Love Drunk) land in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. In 2012, the band’s frontman Martin Johnson began writing/producing music for everyone from blink-182 to Avril Lavigne, leading to Boys Like Girls going on hiatus (reforming sporadically to tour between 2016 and 2020). In May 2023, the band released “Blood and Sugar,” the first single from their upcoming fourth album and their first new song in over a decade.

by SamanthaNW on 10/20/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

The entire concert was a complete blast!! From the first act all the way to the hit of the show, Boys Like Girls!!! The energy was high the entire time and everyone was having a blast!! Even the parents who were there with their children!! Boy Like Girls knows how to put on a show and they proved that well!!! ROCK on!!! (Unfortunately I really wish Cobra Starship was there...I'd love to seen them as well!)

  • All five bands were amazing

  • Boys Like Girls was amazing!

    by kaitkait on 10/20/09Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

The show opened with Versa Emerge which I had never heard before and they were decent. Then A Rocket to the Moon performed which definitely did not disappoint. I absolutely loved them. Following Rocket was The Maine, who did an amazing job as well. After The Maine was Cobra Starship and they did awesome as well. Finally, Boys Like Girls took the stage. They are so amazing live I couldn't believe it. I drove 6 hours to see the show and it was totally worth it. I even got to meet some band members after the show which made it even more unforgettable.

I liked all the bands except the opener from Texas. What happened to Cobra Starship? That was my reason for going!

  • Boys like Girls keeps getting better everytime

    by wagstoyou on 10/20/09Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

This is the fourth time that we have seen Boys like Girls and they just keep getting better everytime. Gettinn to see a big band like them in a small venue is also a treat. We saw them in Florida and the crowd was huge. At the rave if you are lucky enough to get up close the guys make sure they pay attention to the crowd. We got up to the bar and I got to touch Martin. Many bands as they get bigger start to loss that personal touch and forget about the fans that put them there. Not Boys like Girls. they play to us. They sound great and there music just keeps getting better. the new album is great and Love Drunk is a treat everytime I hear it on the radio. Thank you Guys for a great night!

  • AMAZING

    by rkorvd on 10/20/09Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

I LOVED the concert. To be honest I'm not even a real big Boys Like Girls fan but this show was nuts. You were able to get so close to the bands. I was even lucky enough to catch a water bottle from The Maine and get a guitar pick from Boys Like Girls. It was crazy!

  • Cobra Starship puts on an amazing show

    by ManBearPigPHD on 10/20/09Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was very good, all the opening bands sounded great (Versaemerge, A Rocket to the Moon, and The Maine), but Cobra Starship was by far the most exciting band, they put on a great show and got everyone pumped up. Boys like Girls were pretty good as well, but im more of a Cobra Fan myself.

  • BLG were great

    by coolmom1960 on 10/19/09Riviera Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Boys Like Girls were great but Cobra Starship and The Maine were more entertaining than BLG. Alot of energy and really got the crowd into the excitement.

Boys like Girls kicked butt! They were so awesome!! They performed a lot of their new songs which I absolutely love! They had a lot of energy which brought a lot towards the crowd as well. I would love to see them again!

This was the best show and lineup I have seen a year. I was so impressed with these two newer bands VersaEmerge & A Rocket To The Moon they were all amazing!

  • The Maine was/is amazing

by twiggydaffs on 10/19/09Riviera Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to many concerts and this was definitly one of the best ones. All of the bands were so good live and I was completely blown away. Not to mention, they were all very sweet and most of them came out after to meet everyone and take pictures and sign autographs.

  • loved loved loved it!!!

by alexisdanielleR on 10/19/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Everyone was amazingly unforgettable!! except i personally couldn't stand versaemerge, they aren't my type of music and i just really didn't like them one bit. EVERYONE ELSE WAS AWESOME!!! A rocket to the moon were everywhere in the crowd during the show and so were disco curtis and The Maine came out afterwards and BLG were just the actual show was sooooo gooood!!! and The Maine's stepped up so much in under a year and i just had the most ahhmazing time.

  • Such a great combo

by Katelyn on 10/19/09Riviera Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Versaemerge was okay, you couldn't really hear the lyrics but the music was good. A Rocket to the Moon blew me away, they sounded amazing for a band I didn't really know. The Maine was awesome too, they played a bunch of their better known songs along with one no one has heard before. They were one of my favorites of the night. Cobra Starship definately got the crowd riled up the most. Everyone was going crazy, the energy in the room was crazy. Boys Like Girls were good, suprisingly though they didn't seem to be the crowd favorite, a lot of people left after Cobra finished their set. BLG played a lot of their new songs which people didn't know too well but they were still really good. The last song they let people jump on the stage which was fun. Overall it was a great combination of bands and I couldn't of asked for a better night.

  • Great Event Overall

by urbeautiful on 10/19/09Riviera Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

I really liked it. Very high enery! Also had a great area to chill out if you are overheated. So funny when a girl took her bra off and threw it to the lead singer of Cobra Starship:)

  • by Anonymous on 10/19/09Riviera Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

it was overall a awesome concert. i would not have had the first band play. no one really knew them and their style was different. the waitresses were rude but everything else was awesome

  • by Anonymous on 10/19/09Riviera Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

i think everyone got to the front or at least close to the front at some point during this show, which is good. BLG are really cool live and they get the crowd pumped so much! Martin jumped into the crowd at the end and he also let a lot of kids come up on stage to dance and sing along, so it was awesome. :D

  • Boys Like Girls

    by Momof2teenagegirls on 10/19/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

Boys Like Girls rock!! By far the most talented of all the groups. My girls loved their concert and so did I. We also enjoyed Disco Curtis - my 16 year old actually downloaded and bought their CD to support them. Thanks Disco Curtis for autographing and signing my daughters shirts. Versaemerge was alright - my girls like them but not my kind of music. The Maine was awful - I did not like how they referenced pot during and asked if anybody wanted to cuddle after the concert (most of the crowd consisted of 12 year old girls). We felt very comfortable and safe at LifeStyles Community Pavilion. Good price on the tickets - would pay it again to see just Boys Like Girls and Disco Curtis. Good luck to both groups!!!!!
