Active for nearly 40 years, Boston’s combination of hard progressive rock, phenomenal guitar work, and soaring vocals is still as riveting and relevant as ever. In 2013, the acclaimed rockers dropped their sixth studio album – and first since the death of lead singer Brad Delp in 2007 – Life, Love & Hope. Delp sings on a handful of the tracks, while several other vocalists fill out the rest of the album. 2012 saw the band touring for ticket holders across the country, performing fan-favorite songs from their hit-filled back catalogue.
Boston’s self-titled debut album came out in 1976, catapulting the band to stardom with the smash singles “Long Time,” “More Than a Feeling,” and “Peace of Mind,” remaining on the Billboard charts for an astonishing 132 weeks and becoming the best-selling debut album in US history. After opening concerts for Black Sabbath, Blue Öyster Cult, and Foghat, Boston charted its own headlining tour and became the first band to play Madison Square Garden in their New York City debut. Their second album Don’t Look Back came out in 1978 and sold over seven million copies, with its title track reaching No. 4 on the charts. Boston’s third album Third Stage came out in 1986, expanding their sound with electronic drum samples, and remained the No. 1 album for four weeks on the strength of top 20 singles “Amanda,” “Can’tcha Say” and “We’re Ready.” 1994’s platinum-selling Walk On followed, as well as 2002’s Corporate America.
Sounded great, light show good. They rocked the house. Really enjoyed it.
I've seen a lot of concerts and this may be top ten. Boston was a bucket list band for me and they did not disappoint. Tremendous harmonies and amazing dual guitar playing.
One Word Explains the Boston Concert: GREAT! Jiffy Lube Live is a really nice venue as well.
The line up of acts was phenomenal! Joan Jett is still rocking at her age. Boston had a few slow moments but they weren't a deal breaker!!
Tommy had a few issues that were very apparent and really took away from the excitement of the show. The band was amazing as usual, but jammed way too long, I would assume to take up time so Tommy didn't have to sing. He appeared to have back issues as well, as his movements were almost painful to watch. The set was amazing, creating a great visual show. They needed to stick to many more of their older hits, this may have reenergized the crowd. After spending $120 to get up close to my favorite band, I was quite disappointed to say the least. Joan Jett was amazing started the show with some great rock n roll and really left the crowd ready to rock, so this lead to a real let down after Bostons "fair" performance.
The bands were excellent but for some reason, they had the big screens turned off again and it was harder to see the acts..
From start to finish even the rain didn't take away from it.
The seats were great and brought me back about 25 years in time. A great show!
Just an awesome concert. Will go as one of the best that I've seen. Joan Jett was rocking in a short set followed by almost two and a half hours of an extremely tight and creative Boston set. Just enjoyable throughout. Tom Scholz was incredible. I would see them again in a minute. Great night!
I almost didn't go to the concert because it was supposed to rain all night. But I went and am so glad I did. Boston was fantastic.
Joan Jett was awesome and I see them again. Boston was better than I expected. Loved it and definitely see them when they come through!
Great concert! Forgot how many hits both bands had.
Great concert, Joan Jett ROCKED THE HOUSE!!! Boston put on a good show! we were upgraded from lawn seats to the 3rd row from 102.9 WMGK! thank you sooo much!!
AWESOME overall experience!!!!! Both can still rock hard and bring their songs to the crowd.
Anytime Boston is touring, I'll end up going to the venue they visit closest to me. Been doing it since 1995 when I started going to concerts. Been a lot of turnover in the band over the years but the current lineup seems to have really found their sweet spot. This was one of the best performances I've seen in several shows. Absolutely love Jeff Neal on drums and hope he's more of the permanent presence behind the kit. Tom continues to engineer and put on one helluva show; musically and visually.
These guys and girls, have not missed a beat. Their sound was like hearing an album. They have gotten better each year since they have been touring these last 3 years. The lead singer, Tommy DeCarlo, was incredible. He picked up the mic and took this band to new levels.
The band's were great and I would.have given it 5 stars but we got flooded out bc our seats were on floor and it was high tide. Had to move.
The concert was good both bands sounded great and there was a lot of energy during the performances. It was a nice evening but a lot of the floor was flooded for some reason and many fans were standing in what looked like 4-6 inches of seawater during the show. I can tell you that would not have been me. Fan, Yes. Fanatic, No Unfortunately we had to leave early as the seats we were in were not in good shape causing us to be very uncomfortable for the entire show.
Outstanding show with one exception (for my taste). The band had the crowd rocking, and then at the end, drifted into a 20-25 minute jam session that had the audience leaving or walking to get more beer. Seemed to suck a lot of the energy from the crowd. They left a lot of their hits untouched, and wasted 20+ minutes in that interlude. Little bit of jamming is great, but they did too much, and too late in setlist.
I attended with our group of multigenerational Joan Jett fans (myself, teen and tween) and Boston fans.
