About

Bob Seger in Concert

With one of the most recognizable voices in rock, Bob Seger has been laying down cool grooves and bluesy anthems since the 1960s. Born in Detroit in 1945 to a relatively absent musician father who worked for Ford, Seger grew up with the perfect cocktail for heartland rock: a mix of music, working-class values, and despair. Becoming entranced by the music of early crooners like Little Richard, Elvis Presley, and James Brown, Seger would start a Detroit-based rock band in ‘61 called The Decibels; after they broke up, he joined The Town Criers, who became popular for their covers of radio-friendly pop tunes. In ‘74, Seger formed The Silver Bullet Band, where he would find immense success. 1976's ‘"Live" Bullet' reached No. 34 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart, going Platinum the following year. Later in ‘76, Seger's LP ‘Night Moves' would send atomic waves across the country with charting singles like "Night Moves," "Mainstreet," and "Rock and Roll Never Forgets"; the album eventually went 6x Platinum. With his following album, the explosive and searing ‘Stranger in Town,' he had four charting singles and another 6x Platinum LP.

Over the next 30 years, Seger would rack up the accolades he deserved while continuing to put out great rock albums. Though musicians came and went in his band lineup, Seger remained a stable anchor. 1986 saw a No. 2 charting track with "American Storm," and the following year he found his first No. 1 single in "Shakedown," which he wrote for ‘Beverly Hills Cop II.' In 1987, Seger and The Silver Bullet Band also got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Recent years have proved that Seger's here to stay: 2014's ‘Ride Out' was full of twangy, wheeling-and-dealing heartland rock, while 2017's ‘I Knew You When' bore a healthy dose of classic Bob Seger sentimentality.

    Bob Seger Rocks

by Lozon on 3/28/11Huntington Center - Toledo

Couldn't have chosen a better venue to open up the Bob Seger 2011 Tour. Huntington Center was absolutely great, the town of Toledo is beautifull and Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band were AWESOME. I've been to everyone of Seger's concert tours since 1975 and this was the best performance ever. He belted out quite a few of his old tunes from the late 60's and early 70's along with some of his new stuff. Alto Reed, absolutely phenominal sax player. 100% Pure Rock&Roll at it's finest...

    Seger Still has It

by Crisper on 3/28/11Huntington Center - Toledo

I have seen Seger many times and am amazed at how hard he still rocks. If you have reservations about seeing a 65 year old rocker you can put them aside. You can tell there is nowhere he would rather be than on the stage. He plays ALL the hits and throws in a few surprises as well. This was an evening that I will remember for a long time.

    Segar - rocks

    by 4queb on 3/28/11Huntington Center - Toledo

The show was great. Segar has an amazing catalog of songs to pick from and the set list was fantastic. I had a bit of an issue with the sound. The band was drowning out his vocals, and it was had to hear him. It did get a bit better after the first couple of songs, but it still wasn't very clear. Sound seemed once dimensional - i.e. only coming from the stage area and it was projecting very well.

The first show of the tour was AWESOME!!! Never had the pleasure of seeing Seger in concert before but I certainly hope it won't be the last. The opening act was not that great but I think I was just waiting for the main event. If the rest of the shows are like this one everyone is in for a treat!

Just the best Michigan shows, hands down

by oldjer on 3/24/11Palace in May 2011 - Detroit

I've been to literally hundreds of concerts, and nothing I've seen compares with the Bob Seger shows at Pine Knob in the '70s..Favorite moment was seeing Alto Reed playing a SMOKING solo while suspended over the audience on guy wires like Peter Pan! Close Second-Michigan Theatre in Detroit with Albert King opening the show- the show was identical to the Live Bullet album, but in a much smaller, more intimate setting. Third-Joe Louis Arena in Detroit when he played "Fat Man In The Bathtub" with Bill Payne ( Little Feat's pianist ) ...Incredible! (favorite moment date listed is a guestimate)

Professional Showman All The Way . . .

    by songsinger1 on 3/24/11Saginaw Auditorium - Saginaw

I have seen Bob Seger 3 or 4 times and I have never been disappointed in any of his shows. The last time out we saw him in Saginaw, Michigan and he absolutely brought the house down. When he took the stage, Bob Seger owned the venue and it only got better with with the rest of the Silver Bullet Band at his side.

    Bob Seger I love You!!!!!!!!

by TMC1960 on 3/6/11Seen Seger at Cobo Hall, Joe Louis Arena, and The Palace Of Auburn Hills - Toledo

My all time favorite person to see in concert. I have been to some of the most amazing concerts in my life time, but have never been as excited to see anybody as I am when I get tickets to see Seger. It is a feeling like no other. I see him everytime he comes in concert. Couldn't wait for him to come to Detroit so I am going to see him opening night in Toledo. To my surprise, Ticketmaster released some amazing tickets in section 119 row A, and I was able to get two of them. Thank-you Ticketmaster !!!!!

by dundalkmama on 3/3/11Civic Center, Balto. Merriweather Pavillion, Balto, Capitol Center, DC - Balto/DC

I've seen Seger & SBB in Balto/DC area, since the late 70's. Been to more concerts i can remember, but Bob is the best by far!! Do Not Miss This Concert!! You will be sorry. I have NEVER been to a show where the fans sing every note to every song, beginning to end. Best memory........Night Moves, lights went down, spotlight on Bob, and the fans were so deep in the moment.....it was mesmorizing!!! Took my breath away, to this day! Can't wait to see him again. AWESOME!!

    Been a while

by shnawky on 3/1/11Merriweather Post Pavilioni - Columbia

I have been to too many concerts to count. There are two concerts I saw over 30 years ago that STILL rate as the best shows I've ever been to. One is Santana and the other is Seger. Oddly enough I am not a HUGE fan of either but Seger in concert is a GREAT experience! Based on the reviews here, it would appear he's still got it...

    Must See !!!!!!!!!

    by BrettM1969 on 2/25/11Allstate Arena/Rosemont Horizon - Chicago

If you are a fan of straight up Rock & Roll R&B performed Live and in your face, then a Bob Seger concert needs to be on your "Bucket List". NEVER a dull moment. I hope I can make it back from Afghanistan in time to catch the not yet announced Chicago dates for this tour.
