About

Bob Seger in Concert

With one of the most recognizable voices in rock, Bob Seger has been laying down cool grooves and bluesy anthems since the 1960s. Born in Detroit in 1945 to a relatively absent musician father who worked for Ford, Seger grew up with the perfect cocktail for heartland rock: a mix of music, working-class values, and despair. Becoming entranced by the music of early crooners like Little Richard, Elvis Presley, and James Brown, Seger would start a Detroit-based rock band in ‘61 called The Decibels; after they broke up, he joined The Town Criers, who became popular for their covers of radio-friendly pop tunes. In ‘74, Seger formed The Silver Bullet Band, where he would find immense success. 1976's ‘"Live" Bullet' reached No. 34 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart, going Platinum the following year. Later in ‘76, Seger's LP ‘Night Moves' would send atomic waves across the country with charting singles like "Night Moves," "Mainstreet," and "Rock and Roll Never Forgets"; the album eventually went 6x Platinum. With his following album, the explosive and searing ‘Stranger in Town,' he had four charting singles and another 6x Platinum LP.

Over the next 30 years, Seger would rack up the accolades he deserved while continuing to put out great rock albums. Though musicians came and went in his band lineup, Seger remained a stable anchor. 1986 saw a No. 2 charting track with "American Storm," and the following year he found his first No. 1 single in "Shakedown," which he wrote for ‘Beverly Hills Cop II.' In 1987, Seger and The Silver Bullet Band also got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Recent years have proved that Seger's here to stay: 2014's ‘Ride Out' was full of twangy, wheeling-and-dealing heartland rock, while 2017's ‘I Knew You When' bore a healthy dose of classic Bob Seger sentimentality.

by BuschT on 3/28/11Huntington Center - Toledo

Bob Seger was awesome. After a 15 year break to come back and do a tour at 65 years old is unheard of. But, I can say he still rocks and sounds the same as I remember !!!!!

    Seger was Outstanding!!

    by griz71 on 3/28/11Huntington Center - Toledo

This was the first show of the tour. It was my forth time seeing Bob, and the best of the four. Bob is so comfortable in his own skin and, at 65, just happy to be here. His enthusiam was contagious. The band was tight. The show was awesome.

That's why we call him Rockin' Bob

by JBANDTER on 3/28/11Huntington Center - Toledo

Totally in touch with his audience and fully in tune with his band; Rockin' Bob truly delivered an unforgettable performance. If you have never seen him, this is the show to go to. If you've have seen him before, this is as good as ever. Forget the fact that he's 65. (He commented about that!) This show is all about rock n roll and specifically the rock ballads that are uniquely Seger's. His interface with the audience and all of the members of the Silver Bullet Band was incredible. Don't miss this tour, it will be your loss! Remember: "Life is not a dress rehearsal."

    Seger STILL has it !

by Barrytimb on 3/28/11Huntington Center - Toledo

Without a doubt, Bob Seger still ROCKS ! While the age has taken a mild toll on his voice range, he still can belt the songs out, and the Silver Bullet Band is exceptional ! The Detroit Horns and backup girls provide additional ZAP ! to make this a very enjoyable evening. If this is indeed Seger's final round, he did as he wished...... HE'S STILL THE KING OF DETROIT ROCK & ROLL !!!

    Seger - Still Rockin'

    by Dusty33 on 3/28/11Huntington Center - Toledo

I enjoyed the show very much - lots of vintage Bob Seger Rock n Roll. The only disappointment - they needed to turn the volume UP! I could hear those around me singing & had no problem talking to my friend.... I want it Rockin & I want it LOUD! Since it was the first night of the tour - I'm sure that will improve as they go. This is NOT TO MISS! Very good, Seger sounded excellent all the way through the final encore. I wasn't watching the clock - but he played from before 9pm and didn't finish until after 10:30

    BOB SEGER

    by KBR1 on 3/28/11Huntington Center - Toledo

Bob rocked the house!!! I have no words positive enough in nature to describe our night - it was fantastic. Bob took us back to the good old days playing all of our favorite Seger tunes. He was gracious, and mannered; thanking the audience for our applause. We thank him for putting on such an awesome concert! I hope I have the energy he displayed on Saturday night interacting with the audience, pumping his fists and dancing around the stage when I am 65 years old. I almost booked another concert of his in Detroit at Pine Knob but the good seats were all taken. Way to go Bob - you rock! Thank you again for returning to the concert scene.

Seger opening concert in Toledo Saturday, March 26

    by debbie80 on 3/28/11Huntington Center - Toledo

Pure Seger!! Than MAN still has it. Totally enjoyed the two hours of Bob, this does not include the time for the opening act, and Seger's two encores. This man did not let this fan down. You can tell he loves what he does. He totally amazed me. He sounds just like he does on his CD's. None of this lip sincing and mixed off tune vocals of the artist now. He is rock and roll at its finest!!!

Bob Seger has great energy and a great attitude.

    by mark1961 on 3/28/11Huntington Center - Toledo

For a guy that is 65 years old what a great concert. One of the best concerts I have ever been to. Bob Seger has not lost anything. His voice sounded great and I loved his enthusiasm. Many of the songs the crowd was so into it they were singing along. I would highly recommend seeing Bob since he will probably not be touring too many more times.

by Mitchka on 3/28/11Huntington Center - Toledo

Bob Seger rocked the house like the years never passed. His voice sounded perfect and his energy was amazing. Alto Reed was fantastic too! Seriously great show. Every song was fantastic, never a dull moment. I love that they took a break for about 7 minutes, gave time to get another drink without missing anything!
