  • Great event!!

by Sksturdy on 7/15/09Saranac Brewery - UticaRating: 5 out of 5

The Blues Traveler concert at the Saranac Brewery was phenomenal! I bought the tickets for my husband for our anniversary and we really enjoyed the concert. the venue was very unique and much better than going to a regular indoor concert at a theatre or auditorium. it was a great evening all around!

  • blues traveler was fabulous

by tinamarie1967 on 7/15/09Dreamcatcher at Viejas Casino - AlpineRating: 5 out of 5

the was the first show i had seen at viejas. liked the intimate setting. we were able to get up next to the stage so of course that made it awsome. my husband caught a harmonica that john popper thru out so that was one of the highlights of the night

  • Blues Traveler with DJ Logic = AWESOME!!!

    by ANB77 on 7/13/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

This was the best Blues Traveler show I have ever seen. I think DJ Logic would be a great addition to their regular lineup. I enjoyed it so much I went to see them the very next evening in Aspen.....totally worth it!!!

  • I knew I'd enjoy it, but it was great!

by Chesspirate on 7/12/09Dreamcatcher at Viejas Casino - AlpineRating: 5 out of 5

Growing up with Blues Traveler as the constant musical influence of my life and not being able to see them live always bothered me. So when they came out close to me and I could actually go I was there! Wasn't sure what to expect, they've been doing this a long time and the venue I went to was pretty cozy. Not to mention that the crowd wasn't close to a sell out, so I was fearfull that the band might call this one in. But from the beginning John Popper was putting everything into his vocals, it was better than i could have expected, and lead guitarist Chan Kinchla seemed like he had never had more fun in his life, the whole band just seems like they don't want to do anything else but play music, and that definitely shows. Considering the small venue and crowd it turned out to be the most enjoyable concert i've ever attended.

  • Great show

by Eddd on 7/11/09Dreamcatcher at Viejas Casino - AlpineRating: 5 out of 5

Always a great show. The venue was unexpectedly pretty good, shame its stuck in kind of a scuzzy casino. The crowd was good though not overbearing and the performance was Awesome! Quality show.

  • No Longer A Blues Traveler Virgin

by Teshia on 7/11/09Dreamcatcher at Viejas Casino - AlpineRating: 5 out of 5

I got these tickets for a friend, an avid Blues Traveler fan, for her birthday. When I told her that I had never been to a show, she told me that I would have fun and she definitely hit the nail on the head with that comment! I had a wonderful time, enjoyed the boys having fun, and to top it off, I even got a harmonica from John himself! The guys are amazing and I can now say that I'm a fan. Like their music, like the laid back atmosphere of the crowd, and will go to shows until I can get my harmonica signed!!

  • Blues Traveler is a great band

    by moon123 on 7/10/09Ventura Theatre - VenturaRating: 4 out of 5

Great concert! Band performed tightly and wasted no time between songs. The only change I would make would be to shorten individual solos which I'm not a fan of, and play something like their song "brother john" to highlight their talents, which were on prominent display anyway. The venue (Ventura Theatre) was quite poor soundwise and diminished greatly a great performance. Soundman was overpowering with bass and bottom end and that was extremely disappointing. The acoustics are horrible there anyway, and that made it worse. Need to have these guys in another better venue.

  • Blues Traveler was great, but...

    by Belgarath76 on 7/10/09Ventura Theatre - VenturaRating: 4 out of 5

Blues Traveler took the stage at the Ventura Concert Theatre on 7/8/09 and was fantastic, however the sound was just aweful. It was frequently difficult to hear the lyrics and everything was muffled. The band was great, but I noticed John Popper smokes like a chimney. He had better give that up before his voice is gone.

  • crank it up....if you don't know anything else

by ohwell on 7/10/09Ventura Theatre - VenturaRating: 1 out of 5

What a let down---the whole night. All vibes go to the sound crew who believe it's not right unless everything in the house is shaking to the over the top volume. Not only are the dials set at 11 (on a scale of 10) the balance of vocals to instruments was completely out of wack. My wife and I could only pick up about 20% of the vocals all night long. The performers may well have been doing a great job from the first group---sorry I couldn't understand the name of your group, to the what may well be the next group to make it (again didn't catch the name but do know you're out of Austin) and then even Blues Traveler. We left by the second number even though we had very much looked forward to the night. We were getting nothing from it except ear damage. And at first we thought the two people with ear protection on were strange -----------turns out they were the only ones that knew what's what. I doubt we will ever return the the Venture theatre if this is how they operate. The good news the ticket price wasn't sky high..................until you factor in the total bomb the noise level became.

  • Blues Traveler - Non-stop

by Hatguy on 7/9/09Ventura Theatre - VenturaRating: 5 out of 5

The Blues Traveler Concert last night in Ventura was absolutely amazing. I stayed in the same spont down in front the entire night. We saw them in concert here several years ago and also at the Greek. The Ventura Theater is an intimate venue where you can get up close and personal with the band. They started playing at 9:15 and did not stop until 11:25!! John Popper's talent is like none I have seen. He has so much energy, and never seems to tire. Yes, he takes cigarette breaks every now and then while one of his band members jams on the guitar, keyboard or drums, but he is in there jammin' on the harmonica, singing his heart out the rest of the time. They played lots of new songs and many of his top hits. It was a night to remember!!

  • Six hours was too long

by Rocknroller on 7/7/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 2 out of 5

We arrived at 5:30 since it was advertised that Lewis Black was going on at 6 p.m. sharp. Of course that was not true. The first comedian was sexually explicit, and not very funny. Lewis Black was great. Black Joe Lewis was horrible -- everyone around us was holding his/her ears. The band was okay, but they should ditch their lead singer. Blues Traveler came out around 9 p.m. We finally left at 11:30, even though the band had not completed its set. We had been there for six hours, and that was just too long.

  • Blues Traveler geat, Lewis Black horrendous!

by thegraphite on 7/7/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

I've wanted to see the annual BT concert for over a decade and something has always stopped me until now. I had a great time... except for the Lewis Black segment, which was the worst I have ever seen him, bar none. I'm no prude, and I've enjoyed comics that throw profanity around, but when you are literally incapable of going three seconds without saying the F-word, when you literally can't say a sentence without using it three times in one sentence... that is just the sign of a weak and stupid and LAZY mind, regardless of your religious, political or subcultural persuasion. Black was borrrrrrrrrrrring and lame. That said, BT rocked it mightily! And Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears were new to me, but I enjoyed them very much!

  • Blues Traveler was Amazing!!

    by NO1BTfan on 7/7/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Chuck Roy was funny, Lewis Black was hilarious, Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears was cool too, but nobody can outperform Blues Traveler!!! They rocked the stage, once again, and nobody can even come close to playing to the crowd like BT. They are musically outstanding, and nice personable guys, even shaking hands with us after the show. Cant wait to see these guys next year, quite a performance!!!

  • Lots of Blues on the 4th!

by gandolph on 7/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

The opening acts of Lewis Black and Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears were great too. Blues Traveller rocked into the night and was complemented by great fireworks!

  • Crass Ignorance + Talent = Baffled Disappointment

by Baffled on 7/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 3 out of 5

Having enjoyed Blues Traveler music for years, I though it was time to treat my wife to a live performance by them. No better place in the world for a concert than Red Rocks! Unfortunately, I had no idea who Lewis Black was (my mistake in thinking Blues Traveler would only have top shelf performers opening for them). Mr. Black's fixation on using F-bombs was truly amazing. I had no idea thatone 4-letter word could be used in so many ways! I will give him credit for finding creative ways to use the F*** as a noun, verb, adjective, adverb, and demonstrative pronoun. Mr. Black and the earlier "comic" (sorry, missed his name) set the performance bar so low that I was quite certain Blues Traveler would trip over it. John Hopper and the band itself were truly incredible - so much talent and creativity. I am just baffled as to why they would want to share the stage with sophomoric idiots.

  • Redrocks made the show!

by Pueblo on 7/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

Redrocks on the 4th was the place to see the fireworks over Denver!!! The concert was OK the music seemed to run on and on like shopping music. I really like Blues Travelers when they sing individual songs, but not so much when they run on like that.

  • Experience of a lifetime

    by RL6703 on 7/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

One of the most amazing shows I have ever attended. Not only were the Blues Travelers amazing but their back drop was the whole city of Denver lighting off fireworks. Hands down in my top 2 concerts ever.

  • Blues Traveler's Rocked!

by Curtis on 7/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

Blues Traveler's put on an amazing show. I was very impressed by what seemed like a choreographed fireworks show at Bandimere.

  • Unforgettable

by ElSIMON on 7/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

I cant think of a better concert to go to than Blues Traveler at Red Rocks on the Fourth of July. Those guys played their absolute hearts out for 4 hours and never let up. Cant wait to see them again!!!!

  • Well, the fireworks were nice

by Familyproject on 7/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 2 out of 5

I anticipated a great night of laughs and music and city-wide fireworks. The music was fine, but the "comedy" was missing completely. Both Lewis Black and the other guy from the Comedy Works relied so heavily on foul language that all humor was lost. Actually, in fairness, I can't say much about their gig, because after the first minute or so of both, I (and several hundred other folks) headed straight to the Visitor's Center. Who knew I could learn so much about geologic history waiting for a show? Any comedian who cannot get through a show without relying heavily on the f-word lacks creativity. The local guy did no favors for the Comedy Works; if he represents their talent, I'll stay away.
