  • Blues Traveler with Butchers Blind

by Paradiddle on 11/30/13The Space At Westbury - WestburyRating: 5 out of 5

When you are watching Blues Traveler you are probably seeing the best harmonica playing on the planet and while Blues Traveler was entertaining it was clearly Butchers Blind who stole the show. This up and coming band from Bellrose played a 45 minute set of original, thoughtful, mostly rocking tunes. I definitely suggest you see them soon in an intimate setting as it won't be long before they will be headlining larger venues.Their music was honest and refreshing. After the show I listen to their latest CD Destination Blues and was blown away!

The Blues Traveler and John Popper never mail it in. Great mix of letting the band stretch out and playing the hit tunes. The Sinclair is a nice venue for the size. Good beers.

  • My fave!

Blues traveler + the Sinclair = exactly what I want out of a show

  • by Anonymous on 11/24/13Upstate Concert Hall - Clifton ParkRating: 3 out of 5

Blues Traveler certainly lowered its standards playing at this venue, Upstate Concert Hall. The venue was awful, the staff was bold and rude from the bouncer to a gentleman who fluttered around (guessing he was an owner or partner). There was limited to no seating for those of us who didn't want to be part of the stage crowd. The opening act did not compliment Mr Popper and his band, I almost reconsidered staying. I know for a fact, and have friends who are members of much better bands in the area. The sound and acoustics were 'off' and at times the music over powered the lyrics which Mr Popped brought up to the 'sound guy' in the middle of the second song. This didn't help BT of course because Mr Popper explained he was having 'throat issues'. We ended up leaving early as with many others. I am a true BT fan, have all of their albums, have seen them all over the US over the past 20 years to include traveling to Red Rocks in CO just for their 4th of July show! I saw them three years ago at Vapor for the same ticket price, they played for only an hour and would have paid twice the price but this recent show...I should have been paid to just walk in the door of this nasty venue.

  • Good but not great !

by NorthwestMichiganFan on 11/19/13Saint Andrews Hall - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

This was a good but not a great show. The band's last Album, Suzie Cracks the Whip, is some of their best work. So little of it was played and that was disappointing. Saint Andrews Hall is a great venue with very friendly and helpful staff. We found out about the VIP Section after the fact. I would suggest Live Nation include that as an option when tickets are purchased.

  • by Anonymous on 10/21/13The Fillmore - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

What a great show. I have seen Blues Traveler before but it was quite some time ago. The energy the band had as a whole was absolutely infectious. This was the first time I have been to The Fillmore and I cant wait for the next show. It is a very intimate venue, and the memorabilia through out the hall is such a time warp. I didn't keep track of the set list, but it was definitely a solid mix of the songs you know, a cover or two, with a healthy dose of what I would call band favorites. I loved the fact that there was no break between sets. Each member sometimes two would stand off stage for a couple minutes and then just jump back in. What a great way to keep a show going. Monster Bass/ Drum duets, Poppers solo about a girl Bartending were just amazing fill ins instead of " ok guys, gonna take a short break and will be right back". Basically it felt like being on an amazing ride with no end site.

  • Blues Traveler was awesome!

Fantastic show! Seen them at least 20 times, I'll see them any time they come to SF.

  • by Anonymous on 10/14/13Carolina Theatre - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

Easily the best concert I've been to outta the last decade of concerts I've saw.

  • Blues Traveler is my favorite!

by tbcoyote on 10/14/13Carolina Theatre - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

I love that BT just walks out and kicks a--. I'm a huge fan. Only regret was there were no shirts, cd's, etc for purchase.

  • Blues Traveler hasn't missed a step

    by Louie73 on 10/11/13Carolina Theatre - DurhamRating: 4 out of 5

The show in Durham showed that Blues Traveler isn't just a nostalgia band. They are very much relevant, they had my wife on her feet dancing the whole night. A must see show for the true music lover.

  • Blues Traveler Rocked Durham!

by eddievee on 10/11/13Carolina Theatre - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

Blues Traveler played some of their hits, performed some great solos (drummer, bass, and keyboards) and jammed, Thought that it was a great show!

  • Blues Travelers play from the HEART!

by VickieF on 10/11/13Carolina Theatre - DurhamRating: 4 out of 5

It was like sitting in a on personal jam session. They gave it all they had and the audience was exhasted afterwards as if they had played right along with them.

  • Johnny Pop had his voice!

by butterflyblossom on 10/11/13Carolina Theatre - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

The show was super awesome!! the time I saw them JP's voice was gone so no crooning and scatting. This time, hes was 100% and the band kicked ASS!! They jamed so much and so hard I could hardly contain myself. They did their some some awesome covers and some great jam and solo sessions!! classic Blues Traveler at their very best!!

  • Ok, not great

by concertgirlmp on 9/29/13Hard Rock Cafe Tampa at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa - TampaRating: 2 out of 5

I saw this band 12 or so years ago & was very excited to see them again. I don't know if it was the venue, being a smoky casino, or the guys being older, or what - but it was just... disappointing. They played 3 or 4 hits, but still didn't keep my attention. Most songs went on for 5-10 minutes of riffing by the guitarist, the bassist, or the singer on harmonica. While this is usually entertaining for a band like Dave Matthews or Bruce, it just didn't work here. Jon Popper turned his back to the audience for lengthy periods of times during someones solo, and ordered numerous drinks, did shots on stage, etc. It was just weird. Sad. Musically, his voice did sound really great. Like no time had gone by. And you can't find a better harmonica player I'd say.

  • Meh...

by bigstyl on 7/19/13Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 3 out of 5

It was a great show, but they only did 1 song I recognized! I guess I have not kept up with them since 4.

  • Indigenous & Blues Traveler were incredible

by kanosnah on 7/15/13Vetter Stone Amphitheater - MankatoRating: 5 out of 5

I had heard Indigenous at another event and wanted to see them again, enjoyed their heavy bluesy tones reminiscent of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Led Zeppelin. Blues Traveler was very enjoyable as well. The outdoor venue was perfect on a warm summer night

  • What the....?

by Anonymous on 7/13/13Red Rocks - MorrisonRating: 1 out of 5

Waited all night to hear their hits, and finally heard ONE at the end. Most of the crowd was already gone. Made it quick getting out of the parking lot! MOE was amazing, BLUE TRAVELER not so much; slow, 15-minute jam sessions all night. Would never go to another Blues Traveler concert again. Total disappointment and spent way too much to see them!

  • Blues Travel was awful!!!

by Musicloverofallmusictype on 7/12/13Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 1 out of 5

Went to Blues Traveler on July 4th at Red Rocks in Colorado. I've always liked Blues Traveler in the past however this concert was quite possibly the worst show I've ever seen at Red Rocks. The sound guys had the sound dialed in but the singing was blabbering and incomprehensible. John Popper was drinking whiskey in between every song and seemed to be there to get drunk rather than put a good show on for the fans that paid $60 a ticket to see. I've probably seen over 300+ shows from all genres [I'm a real music lover] and this is the first show I've ever seen where a band opens up by playing their music video on the big screen. Tacky! I thought they were on par with a basic bar band with a $5 cover. Song selection was terrible. They played an album straight through instead of spending the time to formulate a solid fan pleasing set list. They didn't play the big fan favorites [which normally doesn't bother me] but the rest of the music was just terrible due to the intoxicated state of John Popper and the warbling blabbering he did all night. I estimated that about 100+ people left after every song. The only people that stayed did so to see the fireworks. The fireworks got more cheering than the band that everyone paid $60 for. This was easily the worst band I've ever seen play at Red Rocks in about 50 shows I've seen there. Without a doubt this is the highest I've paid ever for this bad of a show. I think Blues Traveler have given up and are just going through the motions to get drunk and make money rather than put on a good show for fans.

Sucked. They played an old album, no singles (one at the very end). Most of the audience left early.

  • Blues Traveler disappointment!!

    by Colorado717 on 7/9/13Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 2 out of 5

I went to the show at Red Rocks on July 4th with 9 friends who flew in from Chicago for the show. What a huge disappointment!! We went last year and had a blast. This year, they played only one song that any of us knew and it was the very last song played. I enjoy hearing their new album, however, they should have thrown in the ones that made them famous, knowing its what we all wanted to hear. Half the people left early in disgust. Still love the band, but way bummed as to the performance. Will definitely reconsider next year.
