Blues Traveler put on a good show and the venue was terrific.
I had seen Blues Traveler last year at the Capitol and they were awesome! This year, not so much. They went on late and then John Popper took two extended breaks during the concert. The band covered for him by playing instrumentals for what seemed like an eternity. In reality, it was probably approximately 20 minutes each break. We paid to see a full concert, not elevator music to pacify fans while the lead singer is off doing who knows what for 40 minutes. Not very professional. Many people left early. I honestly thought we should have gotten money back for the show.
blues traveler is a great band i would compare them to the original allman brothers band. i am 73 yrs old so i have seen almost all the great bands from the mid sixties on go see blues traveler that being said the capital theater in port chester used to be a great venue for the show it still is everything else is not so good. i understand in these times things have to be done but the cap has an over abundance of people telling you what to do. the most importnat thing at the capital is alcohol they want you to drink.................go see blues traveler
I am a huge Blues Traveler fan and was really excited to see them in Reading. Unfortunately the band seemed to have all of the speakers and volume settings set up for playing an outside venue- not the small Santander Performing Arts center. Maybe I’m just getting old but the volume was literally painful. We had to leave. The volume they played at, in my opinion, is not required to enjoy a band of such immense talent. Hoping to catch them again- either outdoors or with some serious ear protection.
Seats were great John Popper and company are top notch musicians. Very talented. People need to realize these guys age is starting to show. All performers experience this. Consider yourself fortunate to have seen them in person!
Fantastic performance by Blues Traveler! Their set is always exciting, amazing original hits & stellar covers that are fresh & suited to show off the entire band's musical chops. I was alarmed that the venue chosen for the Morgantown WV performance was not only a theater with no room for dancing (mandatory at a BT show).. but was on the WVU campus & therefore did not offer alcohol for sale. The audience sat still like they were in church! But Blues Traveler brought the funk all the same. Next time I see them I will research the venue before committing. I'm happy to travel a bit further to enjoy them thoroughly in a more jubilant setting.
Big Head Todd and the Monsters were good, Blues Traveler was not. Musically, the band showed their talent but when Popper told us before they started that he couldn’t sing, they should have rescheduled the show. And they only played one of their own songs and cut the show very early. Not happy with it
The show must go on, even with John Popper with out a voice until the last 30 minutes of the show they were awesome. Having Big Head Todd himself setting in on a couple of tunes was great.
Even with a sore throat those guys pulled off a super show!! Great venue as well!
Big Head Todd was amazing, easily one of the best shows I have seen but after spending $600 on two tickets to watch every member of Blues Traveler perform except John Popper and listen to a lot of songs not written by the Blues Travelers, I felt like I was at a karaoke and not a concert. I realize that he had an issue with his voice but to still be charged the full amount for tickets and not be able to hear what I paid for is really upsetting.
Big Head Todd and the Monsters were AMAZING but the lead singer from Blues Travellers couldn't sing (lost voice) and his other band members couldn't sing either. It was simply disappointing. We should get a refund or a do-over.
I bought the tickets to see Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Blues Traveler was just icing on the cake....which was a good thing. You see John Popper came out before thier set and explained that he had lost his voice, so he was not going to be able to sing much. To thier credit, they played and Popper tried his best. Which is admirable when he could have just called it a day. But BHT rocked, and that was the reason I was there so I was happy.
The opening band Big Head Todd & The Monsters were amazing. Sadly the band we had been waiting to see did not perform well. The lead singer for Blues Traveler lost his voice and couldn't perform. We were EXTREMELY disappointed and felt like we should get at least a partial refund of the tickets.
John Popper came out onstage and said that a doctor gave him a steroid shot backstage. He said that he did not have a voice to sing. The band basically just did a jam session. Todd Park Mohr, singer of Big Head Todd & the Monsters, sang a couple of songs with them, which were really good. It was still a good show, just wish Popper would have been healthy.
Blues Traveler was great! They throw down from the moment they hit the stage. Big Head Todd and the Monster were really good too
I saw the same line up in KC around 1997. This show, it just seemed , both bands played their hearts out . Great seats and my ticket was $25…..great show for that price!
I know things happen but, we drove 2 hours to see that concert and paid good money.
The workers of the venue did not hesitate to let us know that Blues Traveler had spent the day around the Lake of the Ozarks and missed sound check because they were passed out. After an hour of waiting, Hopper came out without a strong voice. He was waiting for steroids to kick in. We listened to 45 minutes of covers…when Hopper’s voice came back he still didn’t sing their songs and would leave the stage in between while the rest of the band played something. They were nothing more than a glorified Lake of the Ozarks cover band. I don’t let partying interfere with my job because I could lose it, they shouldn’t let partying interfere with theirs. Big Head Todd was what made the tickets and drive worth it! I won’t support BT again.
Came to see Blues Traveler but only experienced a shadow of the band . After waiting over an hour for the band to appear John came on and stated he was having some problems with his voice. The band played half a dozen covers with John walking on and off the stage. Finally left without hearing a Blues Traveler song. Very disappointed
John Popper came out and said his voice was gone and that they weren't sure what to do. Said he play alot of harp and have the crowd help sing instead of canceling the show. They played for the bare minimum (after having the opening act play an extra hour longer) played one of their songs and left. We paid full price to hear a bunch of cover songs su g by others in the band. Would've preferred to have the show rescheduled and enjoy who and what we came to hear.
