Blackberry Smoke on Tour

Though they've had their biggest success in the country market, the guys in Blackberry Smoke are rock 'n' rollers at heart. When they hit the concert stage, that becomes immediately apparent, but of course, so does the twangy side of their sound. Ultimately, what comes across is a roots-rocking blend that incorporates the influences of classic Southern rock, '70s/'80s heartland rockers and yes, a dash of modern country. And whether they're delivering a chugging good-time tune like "Rock and Roll Again" or a reflective ballad like "Let Me Down Easy," what comes through the loudest is the band's authenticity. These ol' boys are the real deal, playing it their own way with no nonsense and no rock-star moves. And since they do exactly what they feel, don't be surprised if that extends to covers of songs by their favorite artists such as Little Feat, The Grateful Dead or Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

Blackberry Smoke in Concert

Blackberry Smoke has always done things their own way, rising to stardom by building an audience from the ground up, remaining resolutely independent and staying true to their roots. The band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2000, with singer/guitarist Charlie Starr, guitarist Paul Jackson, and brothers Richard and Brit Turner on bass and drums, respectively, and that lineup remained intact into their breakthrough and beyond, adding keyboardist Brandon Still in 2009. They released their debut album, Bad Luck Ain't No Crime, in 2003, but it wasn't until their third album, 2012's The Whippoorwill, that Blackberry Smoke started achieving major commercial traction. Their next record, 2015's Holding All the Roses, reached No. 1 on the country charts as well as No. 29 on the pop tally, underscoring the band's pan-genre appeal. Their homegrown blend of Southern rock and country has remained authentic and untainted through it all.

This level of real musical mastery is difficult to find these days of artificial music. A fan from the first listening. I will see this band every chance I can for the rest of my life.

  • Absolutely incredible!

Both acts were fantastic. But the 5 song encore was more than worth the price of admission. Great Tom Petty songs! Then killing it with Wild Thing. Had the best time.

  • Waiting for the thunder to pass.

by Tim on 8/15/25The Refinery Charleston - CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Ok opener. Mike Campbell was good. We were worried that BBS would get rained out as thunder and lightning had been getting worse as the night went on. Blackberry Smoke did not disappoint. There was a break to wait out the storm. They played as long as they could. The show was slightly shortened due the rain delay but I've been to shows that we're canceled for less inclement weather than what we experienced. Good Venue, Fantastic Band.

I've seen Blackberry Smoke a number of times and they do not disappoint. Great setlist with some shout outs to Mother's Finest and local establishments. The mix with Mike Campbell and the dirty Knobs was fun and make for a great evening at Chastain.

This was my 3rd time seeing Blackberry Smoke and 2nd time seeing Mike Campbell & the Dirty Knobs. What a fantastic show it was seeing these two accomplished bands playing together! The energy was high and the crowd was definitely into the music! I'd go again and again to see BlackBerry Smoke whenever they're in NC again!

  • Chastain Park

by Up in smoke on 8/12/25Synovus Bank Amphitheater at Chastain Park - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Just my opinion,, the opening bands wasn’t worth the time to sit and watch I’ve heard better music at karaoke bars ,, the vulgar language that one band used was pitiful because I saw small kids in the crowd ( 5-12 yrs old ) . I love BBS and have been to many concerts and will go to many more and BBS rocked the concert ( they did Great ) but the opening bands ruined that show ,,,, what a disappointment and I’ve heard it from many others on other sites ,,,

  • Waiting for the Thunder

by Mike L on 8/11/25The Refinery Charleston - CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Blackberry Smoke – Stormy Skies, Southern Rock, and Pure Magic Sometimes the best concerts come with a little drama, and Blackberry Smoke’s recent show proved it in spades. Fans gathered under gray, heavy skies, determined to soak in a night of Southern Rock no matter what Mother Nature had planned. That resolve was tested with a 90-minute weather delay as the rain poured and lightning flashed in the distance. But when the band finally took the stage, the wait felt more than worth it. Fittingly, one of the night’s standout moments came when they launched into Waiting for the Thunder—just as the rain continued to fall. The crowd roared, ponchos and umbrellas forgotten, swept up in the perfect, almost cinematic pairing of song and storm. Blackberry Smoke’s gritty guitar riffs and soulful harmonies cut through the damp night air, transforming the soggy setting into something electric. From the first note to the last encore, the band played with an energy that made everyone forget about wet clothes and muddy shoes. It wasn’t just a concert—it was an experience. A night where the weather became part of the show, and where a little thunder only made the music hit harder.

by FL Stratman on 8/11/25Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Blackberry Smoke always delivers! They even brought a couple of songs out of the vault for this show. Many thanks to the brotherhood and sisterhood of Charlotte for showing up and bringing the energy. I always regretted not seeing Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers back in the day and really enjoyed Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs. The bands combined for an awesome encore set! Don’t miss this tour.
