Blackberry Smoke on Tour

Though they've had their biggest success in the country market, the guys in Blackberry Smoke are rock 'n' rollers at heart. When they hit the concert stage, that becomes immediately apparent, but of course, so does the twangy side of their sound. Ultimately, what comes across is a roots-rocking blend that incorporates the influences of classic Southern rock, '70s/'80s heartland rockers and yes, a dash of modern country. And whether they're delivering a chugging good-time tune like "Rock and Roll Again" or a reflective ballad like "Let Me Down Easy," what comes through the loudest is the band's authenticity. These ol' boys are the real deal, playing it their own way with no nonsense and no rock-star moves. And since they do exactly what they feel, don't be surprised if that extends to covers of songs by their favorite artists such as Little Feat, The Grateful Dead or Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

Blackberry Smoke in Concert

Blackberry Smoke has always done things their own way, rising to stardom by building an audience from the ground up, remaining resolutely independent and staying true to their roots. The band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2000, with singer/guitarist Charlie Starr, guitarist Paul Jackson, and brothers Richard and Brit Turner on bass and drums, respectively, and that lineup remained intact into their breakthrough and beyond, adding keyboardist Brandon Still in 2009. They released their debut album, Bad Luck Ain't No Crime, in 2003, but it wasn't until their third album, 2012's The Whippoorwill, that Blackberry Smoke started achieving major commercial traction. Their next record, 2015's Holding All the Roses, reached No. 1 on the country charts as well as No. 29 on the pop tally, underscoring the band's pan-genre appeal. Their homegrown blend of Southern rock and country has remained authentic and untainted through it all.

  • Just my opinion

by Smoke Newbie on 10/1/25Rialto Square Theatre - JolietRating: 3 out of 5

The "opening act"was horrible, not announced prior to show and wasted 30 minutes of the crowd's time. Smoke's music was very good, really enjoyed it. Our seats were main floor in row Z. The fans in front of us stood the whole concert so it was difficult to actually see the band. My feedback to show goers - sit down and enjoy the music!

Great show and beautiful venue. Nat was a great opening act, and the BBS boys totally rocked the house. Go see them, you won't regret it.

by Poison Ivey on 9/22/25Avondale Brewing Co. - BirminghamRating: 5 out of 5

They were amazing. They would jam for a while. You would forget what song they were playing, then they would bring it back around. And you would. Oh yeah, that's what they were playing..

  • The Best Touring Rock and Roll Band Today

by Dan on 9/22/25Avondale Brewing Co. - BirminghamRating: 5 out of 5

Blackberry Smoke just plain ROCKS. Not a lot of "show", they put on a show filled with music, a few short stories, great fan interaction and really, really good music. I haven't enjoyed a concert like this since Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchett, and Blackfoot. My wife and I see Blackberry Smoke perform about 5-10 times per year. We can't get enough...

  • Wonderful Rock and Roll

by MikeW on 9/21/25Rating: 4 out of 5

Wonderful Rock and Roll! Saw them at Graceland Sound Stage. The crowd wanted to stand is the only thing I can fault them for (us old folks have trouble doing that all night!). Hope to see them again!

Charlie and the guys have some of the best lyrics. Their music is awesome and their live show is outstanding. Once you see them, you’ll drive states away to go see him again. They’re like the new Grateful Dead with their following.

  • A good show brought down by the venue

    by J S on 9/11/25Sweetwater Performance Pavilion - Fort WayneRating: 3 out of 5

Blackberry Smoke was a fun concert, the band itself sounded good and the openers, Hippies & Cowboys, were just as good in my opinion. Hippies & Cowboys especially seemed to have a really fun time up on the "big"stage. The stage itself was a problem though. While the guests mostly remained seated for Hippies & Cowboys, everyone decided to stand at attention when Blackberry Smoke walked onto the stage. I thought sure, give them a standing welcome. That's fine. But the people in the front row never sat back down. So nobody in the back of the venue had any hope of seeing what was going on on the stage, and it really affected the experience for me. Sweetwater needs to enforce a policy that makes people sit down in the seats that they paid for, or they need to raise the stage up a couple feet. Either way, it was just an alright show despite both bands bringing their best. I probably won't return to this venue unless some changes are made.

  • BlackBerry Smoke Fort Wayne

by Tim N on 9/9/25Sweetwater Performance Pavilion - Fort WayneRating: 3 out of 5

Really enjoyed the opening act, Hippies and Cowboys. Too many people stood up for the whole time, that BlackBerry Smoke played.. The venue needs to install large video screens on both sides of the stage, so people can see the musicians. Or the ushers can ask attendees to sit down, so people in back of pavilion can enjoy both listening to and seeing the artists.
