Blackberry Smoke on Tour

Though they've had their biggest success in the country market, the guys in Blackberry Smoke are rock 'n' rollers at heart. When they hit the concert stage, that becomes immediately apparent, but of course, so does the twangy side of their sound. Ultimately, what comes across is a roots-rocking blend that incorporates the influences of classic Southern rock, '70s/'80s heartland rockers and yes, a dash of modern country. And whether they're delivering a chugging good-time tune like "Rock and Roll Again" or a reflective ballad like "Let Me Down Easy," what comes through the loudest is the band's authenticity. These ol' boys are the real deal, playing it their own way with no nonsense and no rock-star moves. And since they do exactly what they feel, don't be surprised if that extends to covers of songs by their favorite artists such as Little Feat, The Grateful Dead or Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

Blackberry Smoke in Concert

Blackberry Smoke has always done things their own way, rising to stardom by building an audience from the ground up, remaining resolutely independent and staying true to their roots. The band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2000, with singer/guitarist Charlie Starr, guitarist Paul Jackson, and brothers Richard and Brit Turner on bass and drums, respectively, and that lineup remained intact into their breakthrough and beyond, adding keyboardist Brandon Still in 2009. They released their debut album, Bad Luck Ain't No Crime, in 2003, but it wasn't until their third album, 2012's The Whippoorwill, that Blackberry Smoke started achieving major commercial traction. Their next record, 2015's Holding All the Roses, reached No. 1 on the country charts as well as No. 29 on the pop tally, underscoring the band's pan-genre appeal. Their homegrown blend of Southern rock and country has remained authentic and untainted through it all.

  • BBS are one of the tightest bands I've ever seen

by Nugity on 2/14/14Virgin Mobile Mod Club - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The show was amazing! The band is musically as tight as I've ever seen. Unfortunately I think they fall into that nowhere land between country and rock and are not fully accepted by either genre. If you are looking for great blue collar music and a great time this band can't be topped!

  • Blackberry Smoke - The Pageant St.Louis

by MusicDrivesTheSoul on 2/13/14The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5

Another example of why this band is one of the hardest touring bands in the U.S. They put on a great show from the beginning. Charlie Starr is the epitome of smooth. What a voice and has all the guitar skills to match. When U add the Brit, Richard, Paul, and Brandon, U get the Southern Rock that made the South famous. These Guys are the real deal. Spread the Smoke!!!

  • Blackberry Smokes!

I go only for the inspiration of "Good One Comin' On." The rest is just reinforcement.

Great show, the guys of BB Smoke kept the night moving playing songs from both A Little Piece of Dixie and The Whipporwhil. The band covered The Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, and Allman Brothers. All in all a great expierence.

My first time seeing Blackberry Smoke, and won't be my last. Played a great set filled with my faves. I always appreciate a band that can pull off album sound in their live shows. BS is one of those bands. Highly recommended.

  • Blackberry Smoke's Fire was Intense!

by JohnnyDeppIsRango on 2/10/14Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Blackberry Smoke sold out the Newport in Columbus and it was evident why. This band out of Georgia continues to build an audience with their unique take on country rock, effortlessly blending classic rock with the incredible writing of Charley Starr. Plus the way they worked in slices of tunes from Led Zeppelin, the Stones and the Allman Brothers sounded like they fit right into their own great music. Thanks for visiting Columbus and hope to see you again soon!

Blackberry Smoke was great. David Allen Coe joined them on stage, awesome! They did some cover songs that were classics and they did them great. Their original stuff was great and they played all my faves! Also, this was my first time at theNewport and I was surprised how big it is! It is a gorgeous venue, although the girls bathrooms could use an expansion.

  • Got My Smoke On!

by bcis93 on 1/28/14Egyptian Room at Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 4 out of 5

Nice venue. No seating standing but plenty of room. Several bars with mixed drinks, beer, & some finger food. No lines. Opening band the Delta Saints were ok. BBS rocked it. Played most of their popular tunes & Charlie interacted with the audience. Band was tight & on point. Sound was spot on, clear, not to loud. All in all a great preformance. I drove up from Nashville in sub freezing weather to attend.

  • Smokin' with Blackberry... sweeeet

by GZIGGY on 1/28/14Saint Andrews Hall - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Show was excellent, glad I was able to show up. Blackberry Smoke is awsome to see. Love Skynard style southern rock. VERY REFRESHING TO SEE NEW TALENT FROM THE SOUTH. If this band doesn't get your body moving... don't go! Opening band was very good to boogie with also. Good tour.

  • Blackberry Smoke rocks!

    by h1pop on 1/28/14Saint Andrews Hall - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

From beginning to end, these guys bring it. They rocked their way through so many of their southern rock / alt-country hits we didn't stop dancing all night. It's obvious why they were named to the "Ones to Watch" list. Don't miss them on this tour.

  • Blackberry Smoke was good

    by Blues25 on 1/27/14The Pageant - St LouisRating: 3 out of 5

Blackberry Smoke was better than I thought. They kinda lost steam there at the last. When they came back for their encore - their momentum was gone.

  • Great night out!

We love Blackberry Smoke and their concerts are awesome! I love that they pump incense into the venue to give a cool vibe! The Delta Saints impressed us as well! Would love to see them in concert again!
