Blackberry Smoke on Tour

Though they've had their biggest success in the country market, the guys in Blackberry Smoke are rock 'n' rollers at heart. When they hit the concert stage, that becomes immediately apparent, but of course, so does the twangy side of their sound. Ultimately, what comes across is a roots-rocking blend that incorporates the influences of classic Southern rock, '70s/'80s heartland rockers and yes, a dash of modern country. And whether they're delivering a chugging good-time tune like "Rock and Roll Again" or a reflective ballad like "Let Me Down Easy," what comes through the loudest is the band's authenticity. These ol' boys are the real deal, playing it their own way with no nonsense and no rock-star moves. And since they do exactly what they feel, don't be surprised if that extends to covers of songs by their favorite artists such as Little Feat, The Grateful Dead or Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

Blackberry Smoke in Concert

Blackberry Smoke has always done things their own way, rising to stardom by building an audience from the ground up, remaining resolutely independent and staying true to their roots. The band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2000, with singer/guitarist Charlie Starr, guitarist Paul Jackson, and brothers Richard and Brit Turner on bass and drums, respectively, and that lineup remained intact into their breakthrough and beyond, adding keyboardist Brandon Still in 2009. They released their debut album, Bad Luck Ain't No Crime, in 2003, but it wasn't until their third album, 2012's The Whippoorwill, that Blackberry Smoke started achieving major commercial traction. Their next record, 2015's Holding All the Roses, reached No. 1 on the country charts as well as No. 29 on the pop tally, underscoring the band's pan-genre appeal. Their homegrown blend of Southern rock and country has remained authentic and untainted through it all.

  • Great Night of Southern Rock!

by Vlaarrl on 4/8/14House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Blackberry Smoke was spot on! The played one great song after another and even mixed in some other classics like "The Weight" and "Deep Elem Blues". The audience was filled with country/rock fans who are open to other than mainstream music and the conversations between sets revolved around such artists. The opening act, The Delta Saints, was a hard working band that really connected with the audience. The earned everyone's respect by the end of their set. I will try to attend any Blackberry Smoke show I can in the future.

  • Great show!

by MonicaJ13 on 4/8/14House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Blackberry Smoke and The Delta Saints were phenomenal. The only downside was doors should have opened at 8 of the opening band wasn't coming on until 9.

  • One of the best live bands- Ever!

by LARockerChick on 4/6/14House of Blues Sunset Strip - West HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

I am a newer fan to BBS, but the handful of times I've seen them live they have not disappointed. The songs are amazing, the fellas in the band have a great time on the stage, they sound flawless, and they give 1000% each and every time. If you're a fan of Lynard Skynard or the Allman Brothers, you NEED to check out Blackberry Smoke (yes, NEED to). You will become a fan, or as Charlie Starr (lead vocal) refers to everyone, a brother or sister of the band. Please do yourself a favor and catch these guys on the road - you will be happy that you did.

  • by stratlynn on 4/6/14House of Blues Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 3 out of 5

Band was awesome, although they did seem a little tired and did not make much of an effort to connect with the crowd. Sound wise I couldn't believe the people handling the mixing board couldn't hear how drowned out the vocals were. You'd think they would be better at what they do, and maybe read a review once in a while, previous reviews claimed the same thing. Would love to see them anywhere outside of the House of Blues.

  • BlackBerry Smoke rocked

by JaneNoHoCA on 4/6/14House of Blues Sunset Strip - West HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

I love this band! They bring southern rock to a new level!!!! I saw them first as an opener for the Zac Brown Band ... but they are true headliners!!! I just wish I had gone to see them in Anaheim as well !! Looking forward to next time !

  • Smoke Rocks!

by Rocknrollray99 on 4/6/14House of Blues Sunset Strip - West HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

Awesome show, great set list! I was disappointed by the encore songs though. They broke rock n roll rule #1 which states, "NEVER PLAY A NEW SONG FOR AN ENCORE!" Other than that, they kicked ass.

  • Blackberry Smoke Houston

by HangPilot on 3/25/14House of Blues Houston - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

The show was great and Blackberry Smoke was rocking. My only complaint would be, sound quality. Music over-powwered the vocals.

  • Great show

by longtimeLSfan on 3/25/14House of Blues Houston - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

Great band with great songs...Charlie Starr is incredibly talented. They put on a strong showing again this year...the only downside was that they played 1hr 45min (which isn't bad, but last year they played well over 2hrs). Highly recommend.

  • Blackberry Smoke rocked!!

by ginfinance on 2/26/14The Ritz (formerly known as Disco Rodeo) - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Blackberry Smoke is surely the hardest working band in the business. They stay on the road. And they deliver. This is the second time I've seen them and they definitely don't "phone it in". Lead singer Charlie Starr is spot-on with his singing and lead guitar duties. The entire band interacted with the audience and brought 100%. I will absolutely be at any future BBS shows in North Carolina!!!! Love these guys!!

  • blackberry smoke was AWESOME!!

  • Blackberry Smoke music was great

by RockerXXX on 2/25/14The Ritz (formerly known as Disco Rodeo) - RaleighRating: 3 out of 5

The band performed very well. They seemed to enjoy the crowd and put on a great show. The facility needs a sound upgrade, curtains or some sort of accoustic upgrade to help the overall sound quality.

  • Good Show

by hgransom on 2/24/14The Fillmore Charlotte - CharlotteRating: 4 out of 5

We splurged, yes splurged, and paid an extra $60 bucks for a small 2 person high-top table facing center stage and enjoyed the show from there. Wouldn't do this everytime but it was nice to get to see the whole show and not have people standing right on top of you. The band played a good show and they spoke directly to the crowd a couple of times.

  • BBS AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME

by Bambi622311 on 2/24/14The Ritz (formerly known as Disco Rodeo) - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

AWESOME Show can't wait to see them again. Would love to see them do the song Sanctified Woman and Shake your magnolia.

  • Blackberry Smoke ALWAYS Brings their A Game

by Clapp3 on 2/24/14The Ritz (formerly known as Disco Rodeo) - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This is the 4th time I've seen BBS and they NEVER disappoint. They don't talk much, but they let their music do the talking for them. If I had any negative, it would be the venue they played. Even though it was a smoke-free place, it got very smokey at one time before they finally turned the overhead fans on. Also, the bar could have been better stocked with liquors, mixers and other brands of beers (considering all the microbrewers around in that area). The Ritz needs to step up their game !
