Blackberry Smoke on Tour

Though they've had their biggest success in the country market, the guys in Blackberry Smoke are rock 'n' rollers at heart. When they hit the concert stage, that becomes immediately apparent, but of course, so does the twangy side of their sound. Ultimately, what comes across is a roots-rocking blend that incorporates the influences of classic Southern rock, '70s/'80s heartland rockers and yes, a dash of modern country. And whether they're delivering a chugging good-time tune like "Rock and Roll Again" or a reflective ballad like "Let Me Down Easy," what comes through the loudest is the band's authenticity. These ol' boys are the real deal, playing it their own way with no nonsense and no rock-star moves. And since they do exactly what they feel, don't be surprised if that extends to covers of songs by their favorite artists such as Little Feat, The Grateful Dead or Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

Blackberry Smoke in Concert

Blackberry Smoke has always done things their own way, rising to stardom by building an audience from the ground up, remaining resolutely independent and staying true to their roots. The band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2000, with singer/guitarist Charlie Starr, guitarist Paul Jackson, and brothers Richard and Brit Turner on bass and drums, respectively, and that lineup remained intact into their breakthrough and beyond, adding keyboardist Brandon Still in 2009. They released their debut album, Bad Luck Ain't No Crime, in 2003, but it wasn't until their third album, 2012's The Whippoorwill, that Blackberry Smoke started achieving major commercial traction. Their next record, 2015's Holding All the Roses, reached No. 1 on the country charts as well as No. 29 on the pop tally, underscoring the band's pan-genre appeal. Their homegrown blend of Southern rock and country has remained authentic and untainted through it all.

  • AMAZING!!!!!

by McCiggy on 5/18/14House of Blues Myrtle Beach - North Myrtle BeachRating: 5 out of 5

This band and this venue are a match made in heaven! I can't miss Blackberry Smoke when they come anywhere nearby, but House of Blues has the best sound of them all! Thanks for the memories! Also, if you have never heard(of) Drake White, give him and his band a listen. They are incredible live! Great energy!

  • Loved it!

by kyguru on 5/18/14Mercury Ballroom - LouisvilleRating: 4 out of 5

The venue was small and comfortable. Not extremely crowded. Good vibe and fun crowd. Bartenders were friendly. Parking was available about a block away. Would definitely go back. Recently found Blackberry Smoke's music and they did not disappoint! Love that southern rock!

Blackberry Smoke never disappoints. The Mercury ballroom is a great venue. There's not a bad seat in the house.

A great show! All their hits! A great evening. The Delta Saints were a great opening band. BBS rocks!

  • Blackberry Smoke was fantastic (as usual)!

    by ConMan7 on 5/18/14Mercury Ballroom - LouisvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Third time seeing Blackberry Smoke and definitely will see them again when in the area. Their set list was great and their show was smokin' (no pun intended). They are excellent musicians and are as tight as any band I've seen. My brother and I became huge fans about 4 years ago. We were able to see them in Cincinnati a couple of years ago before he became ill and passed away last September. He was wearing a Blackberry Smoke t-shirt when he passed. Every time I hear them or see them it brings back fond memories. Go see them for one of the best shows you will ever see and hear!

  • Blackberry Smoke tears it up

by flyingfishman on 5/18/14Mercury Ballroom - LouisvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The Mercury Ballroom is a new facility in Louisville KY. Though open now for about a month they got a proper christening of their stage Thursday night when Southern Rock group Blackberry Smoke paid a visit. Opening up the show were The Delta Saints. They are a soulfull Bayou Rock band that got the crowd fired up, Ben Ringel their lead singer sang with such a passion that was matched by the drummer Ben Azzi who makes sure his presence is noticed. I highly recommend you catch them if they come to your town. Now on to the main attraction. 2 years ago I was thumbing through my TV and landed as I often do on MTV's Palladian. All of I sudden I was glued watching this Southern Rock band blow me away and left me wondering why I had not heard of them before? 2 years later I own every piece of music they sell and I just went to my second Smoke concert. Lead singer and guitarist Charlie Starr is a rare breed indeed. They opened up with "Leave A Scar". That is all it took. It seemed everyone in the packed house knew every word to every song and did'nt hesitate to show it. They jammed on "Let a Sleepin' Dog Lie". They got real country on "I Ain't Got The Blues Anymore". Everyone I met there left the show very satisfied and happy. At some point in time Lynyrd Skynyrd is gonna step aside as Kings of Southern Rock and it is safe to say they will pass that baton off to Blackberry Smoke. Go listen to their music, catch their videos, and go watch them live. You will see what I mean.

  • Blackberry Smoke is THE BEST

We have driven thousands of miles to see this band just this year......Illinois, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Nevada and Kentucky. Never enough! Already planning for our next show.

  • Blackberry Smoke at The Stone Pony, NJ

by JuggyandBetty on 5/12/14The Stone Pony - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

From the moment BBS takes the stage you can see everyone is ready to be rocked. This was our 10th show. We have made it a point to se them every time they are near Raleigh. The Stone Pony is the furthest we ever traveled to see any band and were glad we went. I want to spread the word that these guys put on a great live show and everyone should see them but hate to turn there show into big stadium events. They should be playing to much bigger audiences, they are that good. We can't wait to see them again. We really liked the new song they played "Paybacks a bitch" and hope to hear lots of new BBS song in the future. Great opening act "Stolen Rhodes".

Great show - great opening band! General Admission seats were easy to get around and reach the bar.

  • BlackBerry Smoke at the Stone Pony!!

by dlf5 on 5/12/14The Stone Pony - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

Man what a show!! The place is relatively small but the crowd was singing every word and the Boys from BBS were just as into it and paid homage to this legendary bar (Charlie Starr made some Boss references). These guys are the hottest band around, don't believe me - go see them and judge for yourself. Highlights were Sleeping Dogs and Like I am but to be honest every song was great. Brought my kids and was 10 feet away from the band while paying $25 bucks 20 mins from my house = life is good. Not complaining but Gotta hear Leave a scar and Shake your Magnolia next time!!

  • Blackberry Smoke Riding On The Pony!

by stealer on 5/12/14The Stone Pony - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

This is my second time seeing this great band, and once again they never cease to amaze me!. Just the best straight ahead rock n' roll band to come down the pike since the Black Crowes. Such a joy to see them at a great venue like the Stone Pony. I'd love to see them "move up" to a bigger venue like the Beacon, but I'm not complaining to see them up close either. Such a hard working band needs to be heard by more music fans.

  • Blackberry Smoke was Smokin'

by ZZSnooks on 5/12/14The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver SpringRating: 5 out of 5

Everything I expected and more! Even the back-up band was good. Blackberry Smoke played 2 hr. (20 songs) and the sound system was spot on. Newest Smoke album is there best so far. Lots of hard driving Southern Rock and a great atmosphere. The Fillmore is a great venue too! Couldn't have been happier.

  • Blackberry Smoke Rocked!

  • Blackberry Smoke was smokin' hot!!!

by Aria444 on 5/11/14The Stone Pony - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

Blackberry Smoke rockin' the historic Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ was incredible! There was a palpable energy in the air. The eclectic group of fans from 20-something's to 60-something's packed the house and could feel a "Good One Comin' On" and they were right! The crowd cheered, danced and sang along all night and BBS did not disappoint. These hard working talented musicians are sure to carry on the proud tradition of Southern Rock, far into the future! If you missed them this time around, don't make the same mistake next time their tour takes them through NJ!
