Very nice stadium ! Lots of pregame activity with Uptown across the street. My only negative is that I haven't learned the parking .
Grate atmosphere for the game. However the food vendors had nothing to sell other than fountain drinks 1/2 way through the 3rd quarter. very disappointing for an Auburn fan even more embarrassing. I found my self apologizing to some the the Houston fans that were turned away. The game was a sell out plan accordingly.
Once we got off the 65 interchange and entered Birmingham, there was no police directed vehicle control. This caused an extreme wait. When we finally arrived at our parking lot, we were told that the parking had been oversold and we had to park elsewhere. The game had already started when we got seated. The lines for food and drinks were long and slow, and the booths selling team game items had sold out of just about everything as well. The game was good and the weather was fine. Disappointed in the management and planning.
My e-tickets worked well. The Birmingham Bowl was held in a brand-new stadium that was very nice with excellent seating & sightlines. I could wish for more food & drink vendors (the game was a sellout.) Perhaps some mobile carts for food like they had for beer would have helped. The only thing we didn't like is that all seats are accessed from one concourse level between the upper & lower sections & there is only 1 elevator in the stadium to the concourse. It is located on the opposite side of the field from our tickets. My wife has breathing problems & had to rest several times as we climbed the ramp to the concourse.
The stadium itself is nice. The food lines were horrible and we blew an entire third quarter trying to get a hot dog and a drink.
There was virtually no delay in gettimg in to the stadium, the cleanliness was great and constantly maintained. I had an amazing time and experience.
So, this was our first trip to the new stadium and there were 6 of us. We we on row Z, sec 223, and i was worried about seeing the game. But, the seats were great-I agree that there really are no bad seats. Now, even though we pre-purchased orange lot parking that was a little chaotic but we go thru it. The stadium and the people there were great but the food concessions were CRAZY busy-we gave up after standing in line for 20 minutes. All in all it was a great day; great venue; great event and well worth it!
The stadium is fantastic. It's beautiful and pretty easy to navigate. There isn't a bad set anywhere. That's the good news. However ... the concessions were atrocious for the Birmingham Bowl and were a problem the entire football season. There's no other way to describe it. It is ridiculous to stand in line for almost 40 minutes for drinks, chicken tenders and popcorn, but that is what I did at the Birmingham Bowl. Stood in line starting with just over 4 minutes to play in the first half and didn't get back to my seat until there was about 11 minutes left in the third quarter. When we finally got the two chicken entrees, there were two small chicken tenders and about 15 french fries — for $14 per entree. I don't know if it's a staffing issue, preparation issue or what, but this has been a problem at every game at Protective Stadium this year. The lines were so long at every concession stand at the Birmingham Bowl that there was no room to walk in the concorse. People were weaving through the lines to try and get through. I hope there is a real emphasis on getting concessions and the wifi/cell reception fixed before next year. I don't want to see people not want to come to the game because the experience is bad.
Wifi was bad, signal wasn't good, and app didn't work well
Nice stadium and easy entry. Went to concessions stand at beginning of halftime. It was the fourth quarter when he was able to return to my seat for the game.I stood in line waiting to get some food and a bottle of water only to be told that everything was sold out but could offer me one warm bottle of water for $5.00.During the entire game it was very difficult to get any kind of cell service.I will go back in hopes that enough people make it clear that things need to improve dramatically and are fixed quickly.
The facility was very nice. Everything was clean. Concessions were horrid. One hour wait only to be told there was no food. The after game exit strategy also needs fine tuning.
I enjoyed the game and smooth transaction with the game tickets but I’ll NEVER buy a parking pass again and I suggest that anyone going to an event in a city that you’re not familiar with, just wait until you get there to park.
The new stadium and staff are fantastic. Very clean and the seating isn’t overly crowded. The only blip for me is when I was told I had to leave so they could clean up so I didn’t get to watch the trophy awarded.
We enjoyed the Bham Bowl in the beautiful new Protective Stadium. Bathrooms were clean and not crowded. Only problem inside was concession stand lines were super long and moved very slow. Needs more concession areas. Parking was a problem. We paid in advance online for a lot near the stadium and it was completely full three hours before kickoff. We were lucky and found the only handicap spot in the lot. What a blessing to have a handicap credentials. Two of the three of us are disabled and can not walk far without having to rest. Not having a place to park would have meant driving 35 miles back home angry and losing near $200 for tickets and parking.
The stadium is nice. The concession wait times were ridiculous (as in, 1 customer every 5 minutes). No stats were working on the scoreboard.
The facility is extremely nice. However it was a nightmare getting to my 60.00 parking space. Also I stood in line for food from 8:00 minutes left in the 2nd quarter to the end in the 3rd quarter. The food was decent but should not take that long.
The stadium was very clean and a great venue. However, the vendor's were not prepared to handle the capacity crowd. Many people, including myself, waited all of half time and most of a quarter of play waiting in lines a concession stands.
They need to learn to manage the crowd, waiting in line for a whole quarter is unacceptable.
Nice stadium. Terrible concessions. How were they so unprepared?? They knew the game was a sell out and at lunch time. Long waits and hot beer. Also, spotty cell service. The pre game entertainment was lacking. Lots of potential but lots of improvement needed.
Birmingham has the start of a destination entertainment district and a great stadium. The City needs to learn from the crowds poor experience related to parking, concessions and cell/WiFi service and adjust quickly before the World Games. Other cities control the traffic and quickly usher in and out attendees. They also have good cell/WiFi service that allows credit cards to process quickly. That was the biggest issue at the concessions- the people were doing all they could to help but if you can’t quickly process payment it’s a problem. Additionally- more staff would have helped but that wasn’t the main issue.
