  • Concession Stands Poorly Managed

by Uptown on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 1 out of 5

We visited the concourse to grab a bite at the concession stands with 7 minutes to go before the half. Every stand had a wrap around line. We waited for 45 minutes before we were served. I suggested a runner to help retrieve the items that was ordered versus the cashier stopping at every order to walk away and retrieve the popcorn, hot dogs etc. Another suggestion would be to have a dedicated beer stand(s), ordering draft beer also seemed to slow down the process of ordering and getting food in a timely manner.

  • New B'ham Bowl venue

    by J. A Fan on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 3 out of 5

No problems whatsoever with ticket purchase and use. Ticketmaster gets 5 stars as usual. New location, Progressive Stadium, for the Birmingham Bowl is much nicer than previous venue. Potential is there for a 5 star review, but not yet! Seating choices: comfortable chairbacks w/ or w/o Club access depending on side of stadium (guest side had club access), bench backs, or bench. Nice wide walkways and seat width allocation. Great sightlines. Major faults: No cell service! Zero! Even if it indicated service was available, could not connect even to send a text, much less participate in the contests or games which were supposedly part of the experience. Entrances did not indicate nearby sections. Most fans entered up a single long ramp, even for lower bowl area. Could make rapid exiting impossible. Concessions lines were long & slow, ran out of food early. Bathrooms were large and clean, but difficult to locate due to entertwined lines with concessions on extremely crowded concourse. This may have been largest crowd so far, but stadium was still not full. Lots of empty seats. Poor sound system, hard to hear or understand announcer or promo videos for teams. Venue website was not kept up to date. Parking was primarily drive up & pay day of. "Reserved parking" options were only posted 2-3 days before game, almost a month after teams were announced. Great if you live there, rough if you are coming in from several hours away for an early game! Definitely have some new venue blues. Disappointed.

  • Terrible Parking

by MDTigers on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 1 out of 5

First Bowl game at new stadium. We prepaid for parking in the Orange Lot. Because of road closures, it took forever to get to the Orange Lot. Right when we got there the lot closed because it was full. None of the workers had a clue what they were doing.

  • It was a great time.

I had no problems. We had someone drop us off and pick us up. Concessions was timely.

  • Bham bowl

by Salamander on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 4 out of 5

Lines too long for consessions. Waited an hour and half for 2 soft drinks. Maybe have a line for soft drinks only would help.

  • Birmingham Bowl

by DLM on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 1 out of 5

Horrible venue. Line of sight from first rows of upper level is blocked by entry/exit and ushers. Concession lines extend across the only concourse slowing entry and movement to a near halt. Concession lines were 75 minutes. No cell service. Barriers and temporary fences outside in seemingly random places impeded foot traffic. One scoreboard. Stadium announcer could seldom be heard clearly. Ushers and other employees were surly and unhelpful. Overall, a really bad experience. If we play in the National Championship game next year, and the game is at Protective Stadium, we will stay home and watch it on tv.

  • Needs improvement

    by Mark F. on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 3 out of 5

Beautiful stadium! The concession stands were extremely slow. Stood in line to get a $5 hot dog nearly entire 2 nd quarter thru half time and start of 3rd quarter. Was over double charged for drinks and when questioned the worker was pretty much told "tough, move on".

  • Nice venue but concessions ought to be ashamed of themselves

by Patrick on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 3 out of 5

Stadium was beautiful but they seemed to only have enough capacity in the concession stands for a crowd 1/4 of the size of the event. Legitimately stood in line for an hour for two waters

  • Loved being at the beautiful new stadium!

by Linda on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 4 out of 5

A major problem concerns concessions. The game was at a time when most people would be eating lunch. After standing in line the entire halftime, I was still way back in the line and would have missed the entire 3rd quarter if I had continued to wait. I therefore gave up trying to get served & returned to my seat without lunch. The concession stands were not prepared to serve the crowd, from before the game through halftime. A HUGE problem, especially since no one was allowed to bring in food.

  • Good game

I just wish the concessions were better staffed/more in quantity. Lines were so long.

  • Great Stadium

by Susie on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 4 out of 5

The stadium is super nice. However, if you sit under the ONE Jumbotron, be prepared to have neck cramps. You have to turn around to see anything showing or anyone talking. Such as contests, announcement and especially game info. As far as I could tell, that’s the only place to be able to see which down it is or any game stats. Not the place to sit for sure.

  • Great Stadium and Game But Long Lines Everywhere

by JB on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 4 out of 5

The stadium and game were great but the concessions were so long and the food choices are really lacking. Security also needs to make sure that the lines don't block people from walking and moving about the stadium. The stadium needs to address this issue as people need to be lined up differently when there are high attendance games to avoid safety issues. With that said, great game and the stadium is a welcome addition to the city.

  • Long Lines & Warm Beer

by chuck on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 3 out of 5

Game was fun and there was a good crowd. The issue was the transactions at the concessions take entirely too long. If they can speed those up they will be good. And someone needs to get there early to ice down the beer.

  • Parking

    by PO'ed on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 1 out of 5

I bought a parking pass and there was no room at the inn. Barricades were set up. The attendant said they didn't know how many cars they could let into the lot so those of us who bought on line were SOL. I spent $50 for a parking pass and was left scrambling 45 minutes before game time finding a parking space. How do I get a refund? The Stadium and game were great although the concessions seem to be overwhelmed.

  • Need improvement

by Oscar on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 3 out of 5

The parking lot I bought a spot for was full when I arrived. The lines for food were very long and I heard they ran out of food. They were not prepared for a sell out crowd. They need to address these issues before the World games start. The stadium was very nice. Our seats were great. No lines at the ladies restrooms.

  • Stadium needs help

by Chuckmoney on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 1 out of 5

Nice new stadium overall...but for sell out crowds, the lines for food/drinks were 30-45 minutes long...plus, for all the lines, no one else could walk around. My daugher waited the entire 2nd quarter in line just to get water and a pretzel.

  • thumbs down for the upper deck

by BB on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 3 out of 5

I was excited to visit the new stadium, but choosing upper deck seats was a mistake. The landings at the top of the stairs obscure your view. The narrow access area at the landing is regularly clogged with people, obscuring your view. And for the entire first half of the game, event staff (as well as security, briefly) is standing on the landing obscuring your view. Next time I visit, no upper deck seats. Otherwise, a nice facility. One other thing: if your expecting a big crowd, eat before you get there, unless you don’t mind waiting in line 20-30 minutes for a $5 hot dog and a $6 bottle of Coke.

  • Terrible

by Diane on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 1 out of 5

We paid for parking in the parking lot was full before we got there. We waited for four vendors to share a credit card machine after not being able to pay cash. The nacho cheese was cold the hotdogs were not done. We missed half the game because of the lines at the banding and the lines in the parking. Terrible experience.

  • Long waits for concessions

by Amy on 12/31/21Protective Stadium - BirminghamRating: 3 out of 5

Waited 45 min for water and barely moved. Ended up just leaving the line. Had a friend wait over an hour for food and most was sold out.

  • Birmingham bowl

Great environment, stadium is terrific but concession need a lot of work!! One more thing I will point out. The merchandise vendors should not be able to change the prices after they have been set! Finally, my team did not win but my son and I had an amazing time and look forward to the next venue there!
