Had an excellent time with my family. It was our kids’ first college football game and, although our team lost and the weather wasn’t great, we still had a great time.
first time visiting this stadium and it did not disappoint. we had great seats and the food was surprisingly good (fresh, hot, affordable). i had the chilli cheese fries and a coke, the fries were NOT soggy, burnt or cold, the others with me had hot dogs, popcorn, regular fries, burgers. the restrooms were CLEAN. the atmosphere in the stadium was electrifying. the only negative i have was parking, which is to be expected during a large event. we paid $20 to park a block over from the stadium in an area that was "tight"getting into and appeared to be less desirable. we took our changes, it was that or risk being towed from the Top Golf parking lot, lol. overall we had a wonderful experience and look forward to more Birmingham Bowl games.
Well of course they had roads blocked off that you couldn't get down so we had to get direction to get around to get to our parking garage that we need to park in was parking garage red once we found that it was short distance walk to the stadium... The only other problem was trying to find somebody to tell us where seats were nobody seemed to know the seat chart. They it had double letters LL MM. The single letter was down toward front once we found our seats.. Just wish Troy won. But, it was a good game congrats to Duke. .
Pregame events were great. Lines into stadium were horrible. We walked around to other end and walked right in. Also had to walk all the way to other end of stadium to find bathroom.
I think the game was fabulous but food prices and drink prices are way too outrageous. $17 for a pretzel and a coke. Come on! $12 for a hot dog. They are taking advantage of people because they know people will pay it. They could charge $20 for a flipping hot dog and people would still buy it. It’s too high and I’m not gonna pay that. The parking at that stadium is horrible. $20- $50 to park close or walk a dang mile parking on the street and hope your car is still there when you return. Birmingham think about a parking deck in the future. Y’all didn’t think this thru when you built this place.
Nothing negative or remarkable about the actual event. Just a football game with local celebrities thrown in for entertainment. Biggest letdown was the stadium. This was our first visit to Protective Stadium. Our seats are in the south end zone which is the student section. Our main issue was the lack of score boards. The score board was behind us so we couldn’t see that one. Nothing in the North end zone or west press box area. The east area had one small score board that was partially blocked by the stairs on each side. Concession costs were double what we’ve seen in other college venues. The walkway in front of section 113 had standing water. For a brand new stadium we expected more.
The Birmingham Bowl is a great event for Football fans in the Magic City. Even if you don’t care who wins, Protective Stadium is one of the best venues I have ever visited to watch a game. There is no bad seat In the house! Even from the upper deck on the east side, you never feel too far from the field. Parking is easy to find if you show up early. Like with any sports event it will be tougher to find if you try to park 20-30 min before kickoff. The uptown entertainment area has good food and drinks. Don’t forget that there is an amazing Nashville hot chicken restaurant just a half block south as well. If you are within driving distance of the Birmingham area and you like College football - don’t sleep on the Birmingham Bowl. It’s well worth the time
I was able to find the ticket I wanted and it was affordable to go watch my lil Brother play for Troy VS Duke
Had a good day, weather was great. Both teams did good at times but of course Duke was the stronger team. Seats were great, had a pretty good crowd. My first time at Protective Stadium. Very nice facilities, easy in and out. Will attend more events there being a Birmingham native. Overall a great experience. Thanks
Section 107 was reserved for Troy Band seating, however fans were sold tickets for this section. On arrival, these fans were told by Bowl workers to sit in section 106. As you can imagine, this caused confusion and many problems when fans that had bought tickets for section 106 arrived to find someone sitting in their seats. In many instances, the section 107 ticket holders refused to leave the seats because an official/volunteer from the Birmingham Bowl told them to sit there. I’m not sure of the price for tickets in the 106 section, but ticket prices for section 107 was higher than the average seat. Those who paid a higher price for the seats (many were parents of cheerleaders or band members) either had to find seating elsewhere or sit in a crowded row. Do better Ticketmaster and Birmingham Bowl.
My wife and I enjoyed the weekend in Birmingham. From our stay at the Marriott, to the Dining experience at Perry's Steakhouse, and certainly the Birmingham Bowl Game. The availability of UBER service to and from everything we enjoyed made the experience stress free. Although our Trojans fell short, we enjoyed the experience.
I purchased four stadium club tickets to take my sons and grandson to. The stadium is easy to find from interstate 65, we found a park lot close to the stadium. (My won negative here is parking was not included with our tickets. I would have paid extra, no problem.) Our tickets were cell phone access which presented a bit of a problem as they were on my old android. I had to email them to my son's I phone. The gate "supervisor"told me they were general admission tickets and to go to another gate. I explained rather loudly that they were stadium club tickets, he walked off. The nice lady who was working there was awesome and grinned when my son showed her the "real"tickets. Everyone inside the stadium were sweet, polite, nice, awesome, incredible, and cool as hell!! We had an absolute blast for the entire time inside the stadium!!!! The three different meals served were awesome and plentiful, drinks were plentiful and free except mixed drinks. Our seats were comfortable and in a great location and everyone seated around us had a fun time during the game. Would I do this again? Most definitely. Thanks to everyone with the bowl game (even the butt supervisor).
Everything was done well except the very long lines for food.
Great venue. Very nice stadium. I will most return next year.
The venue was great and the atmosphere was fun. It's in a vibrant area and it seemed everyone was enjoying themselves.
It was very well planned out and lots for the everyone to do. The stadium is wonderful compared to Legion field.
Enjoyed it very much. Learning about Vulcan along with history and seeing the view was awesome. Dreamland BBQ was great. The Melt restaurant was very inviting and the staff was awesome, Blue recommended The Marble Ring and we had a great time stopping by the Speak Easy for a drink. The Brewery was also very inviting. Great time in Birmingham
The venue was perfect, the merch was awful , the pregame “experience “ was almost nonexistent. The restaurants across the street were closed as the game let out. Coastal Carolina brought no band and few fans. It was just OK
Well leave it to a boondoggle of a area around BRAND NEW STADIUM. Awful parking only ONE ELEVATOR on concourse. No excuse for the long lines at vendors, Bad place for a nice stadium. Traffic is a nightmare, before an event and worse after an event. Now these same folks who control this nightmare want to put an AMPHITHEATER just a few blocks away. At the old CARRAWAY HOSP. land. Oh boy, more congestion. Nice stadium just in a very bad spot..
Jeh Jeh should have given the crowd noise awards to Houston for bringing fans (and tourists) to Birmingham. Traffic and parking still has got to improve.
