About

Raised in Michigan and now based in Nashville, GRAMMY Award-winning Billy Strings is known as one of music's most compelling artists. Most recently, he unveiled "California Sober," a collaboration with legendary artist Willie Nelson--his first release since partnering with venerable label, Reprise Records.

The collaboration follows Strings' most recent full-length album, Me/And/Dad, which was released last fall and features Strings alongside with his dad, Terry Barber. The product of a longtime dream, the record features new versions of fourteen bluegrass and country classics that the two have been playing together since Strings was a young child.

Since his 2017 debut, Strings has been awarded Best Bluegrass Album at the 63rd GRAMMY Awards, Artist of the Year at the 2022 and 2023 Americana Music Awards, Entertainer of the Year at the 2021, 2022 and 2023 International Bluegrass Music Awards, Best New Headliner at the 2022 Pollstar Awards, Breakthrough Artist of the Pandemic at the 2021 Pollstar Awards and has performed on the 64th GRAMMY Awards, "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," PBS' "Austin City Limits," "Bluegrass Underground" as well as countless sold-out tour dates world-wide.

Billy Strings is nominated for three awards at the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards: Best Bluegrass Album (Me/And/Dad), Best American Roots Song ("California Sober" feat. Willie Nelson) and Best Country Duo/Group Performance ("High Note" with Dierks Bentley).

Billy is a legend. His guitar playing and singing are absolutely mesmerizing. The Belasco is a classic theater with superb sound and view from the balcony. I enjoyed the night immensely! Thanks ❤️❤️

  • Best show I’ve seen in years!

by Misteruke on 9/11/21The Belasco - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

No way Billy can play every person’s personal favorite, but leading off with Lonesome LA Cowboy let us all know he had put some thought into what to dish up for us, and then he served up two heaping sets of amazing music with a great mix of old, new, and unexpected. I’m so happy to know I’m in for another taste before the tour is done. Billy is amazing, the band is tight, and the crowd was happy!

  • Billy's the Best, Asbury Park's Not!

by Kelso on 8/8/21Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 4 out of 5

Billy deserves 10 stars out of 5, he's just the greatest thing out there on the music scene!! The Stony Pony, HOWEVERRRR...first off, no water bottles allowed?! As someone with ADA accommodations, I wasn't allowed to bring an empty Nalgene and there were no water filling stations in the venue. So I had to buy every. Single. Water. I haven't experience this in probably a decade. Second, there were WAY too many people there. Have we forgotten about the past 2 years?? Why are venues selling out to pack a venue right now?? Its a breakout waiting to happen. My husband and I danced by the food truck where there were few people and open spaces. TL;DR. I will throw all my money at Billy Strings, but I'll seriously question going to the Stone Pony again.

  • Music good Crowds not

by Music good Crowds not on 8/8/21Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 3 out of 5

Billy Strings was awesome. But there were too many people. Many were rude and pushy. Also I over heard a number of people LAUGHING about not vaccinating. Left at break and enjoyed it much more from the boardwalk. Space air distance and much friendlier people. Would not buy tix to that venue again. Would just enjoy from the Boardwalk

  • Music great, venue sucked

by T on 8/8/21Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 4 out of 5

Billy strings was amazing and tore up the Stone Pony summer stage. If only The venue would have prepared for 4000 patrons better. One food truck didn’t cut it. You had 16 stalls for selling Jell-O shots yet you couldn’t buy a soda or a water at the same stall.

  • Great Great show. Way to packed in. Need to leave some room

by Two great shows in Baltimore on 8/8/21Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 4 out of 5

Way too packed in. His other venues give some room to dance and move. This area is not so fan kind. The show and Billy Strings and band was great!!

  • Great Music

by ACH on 8/8/21Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 4 out of 5

We had a great time however the show was way oversold!! I totally get that everyone wants to get back to normal and seeing shows but... this show was way oversold.. The show was amazing Billy is amazing, i just think they could have held back on a thousand or so tickets to make it a more enjoyable experience.

  • Great show - bad starting time

by BBB on 8/8/21Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 4 out of 5

Show was great but might have been helpful to know that gates opened at 5PM but earliest music would start was 7PM - didn't actually start until 7:30PM! Also it was standing only with no readmission allowed - would have been nice to go back out and enjoy the boardwalk. Probably won't ever attend the Summer Stage again.

  • More Than Just Bluegrass

by Faddecat on 8/8/21Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

Been watchibg the evolution of Billy and the band for about 4 years, justs keeps getting better, always a real good time.

  • Great show/Bad move by promoters and venue

by OldOakhurst183 on 8/8/21Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 3 out of 5

5Star performance, which gets knocked down 2 stars. Summerstage needs to cut back the capacity by at least 20%. It was way too crowded, especially with the recently amended mask optional to this show. I'm a local, and I should've sold my tickets. We were masked. 99% were not. Sound was just as good if not better outside of the venue.

  • BMFS

by Cozanja on 8/8/21Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

The dude is next level. Great show & real nice small outdoor venue near the beach!

  • Billy A+ / Stone Pony F

by AJIT on 8/8/21Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

Billy Strings is one of the most talented guitar players I have ever seen. Literally wowed us all and kept our jaws dropped the whole show. The Stone Pony venue was horribly oversold. I am not sure who is responsible for how many tickets get sold but this event was way too packed. It’s not safe and took away from the whole experience.

  • Billy Was Awesome

by Dan “The Man” on 8/8/21Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

The show was MIND BLOWING. From start to finish. The sounds Billy was getting from his guitar was as if he was playing a Les Paul instead of just an acoustic. The musicianship with his band was outstanding. GO SEE BILLY STRINGS! You will not regret it.
