About

Raised in Michigan and now based in Nashville, GRAMMY Award-winning Billy Strings is known as one of music's most compelling artists. Most recently, he unveiled "California Sober," a collaboration with legendary artist Willie Nelson--his first release since partnering with venerable label, Reprise Records.

The collaboration follows Strings' most recent full-length album, Me/And/Dad, which was released last fall and features Strings alongside with his dad, Terry Barber. The product of a longtime dream, the record features new versions of fourteen bluegrass and country classics that the two have been playing together since Strings was a young child.

Since his 2017 debut, Strings has been awarded Best Bluegrass Album at the 63rd GRAMMY Awards, Artist of the Year at the 2022 and 2023 Americana Music Awards, Entertainer of the Year at the 2021, 2022 and 2023 International Bluegrass Music Awards, Best New Headliner at the 2022 Pollstar Awards, Breakthrough Artist of the Pandemic at the 2021 Pollstar Awards and has performed on the 64th GRAMMY Awards, "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," PBS' "Austin City Limits," "Bluegrass Underground" as well as countless sold-out tour dates world-wide.

Billy Strings is nominated for three awards at the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards: Best Bluegrass Album (Me/And/Dad), Best American Roots Song ("California Sober" feat. Willie Nelson) and Best Country Duo/Group Performance ("High Note" with Dierks Bentley).

by Vinnie on 11/2/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

Overall, one of the best experiences I've had at the venue. Apart from that, when arriving about 2 hours before the show, had an awful time finding somewhere to park. As always, went directly to the parking deck across from the venue, only to find out that it was ONLY VIP!!! Never got a heads up prior to arrival. However, as we were headed away from the venue, we found a smaller lot that appeared to have ONE spot, hourly parking. Timing was everything!! Saying that, we then headed to get our vaccine card checked for bracelets so we could enter the venue. Lines were soooo long and their were only maybe 4 check stations to serve a weekend of sold-out shows. So obviously, being a multi-night run, we figured it would be the longest wait for vaccine card checks/Covid testing. Again, timing was everything being it took approx. 30-40 minutes to get checked in. Got into the venue in about 10 minutes after we figured out what line was the actual line to get into the event. By now, we had about 30-40 minutes till showtime and got our seats and the rest is history....Long Live Billy Freaking Strings!!! Thank you for an amazing evening and a beautiful weekend in Ashevegas!!!

  • This is it!

by David on 11/2/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

"This is it!" Jerry Garcia would sometimes exclaim when things or a thing were really good. The event was well run. Staff were terrific. The band was fabulous...the real thing. This is it.

  • Asheville 2021

    by Ender9600 on 11/2/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

Billy strings was 5 stars. Asheville venue was 3 stars. Bathroom too tiny for crowd as was beer and liquor sales. Stupid rule for liquor drinks - 1 drink per person in line.

  • Billy the Kid

by TJ on 11/2/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 4 out of 5

Amazing band, great sound, too loud if anything. Venue is horribly designed with very poor flow, evicts and entries, snd concessions can be torturous. It was packed with way too many people especially in the middle of a pandemic!

  • Stands are rough. Music was legendary

by Fan on 11/1/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 3 out of 5

The music experience was great, but the venue was rough. You'd wait in line just for the staff to allow a free for all when they moved the gates to get inside for security check. Besides that if you sat in the stands you probably witnessed quite a few people fall down the steps. They were poorly lit, steep, and narrow. Some one fell from 2 rows up on top of my friend and also watched a elder woman bounce her head off the ground. Not a good situation when Alcohol is included and what naturally comes with a psych-grass-rock show. Also the temperature would fluctuate quite a bit. Some points it was too warm to have a shirt on and moments later it called for a few layers to be comfortable. Did appreciate staff keeping people away from the rail

  • Great Every step of the way!

Billy and his band are talented, energetic musicians, non stop entertainment!

  • Not your father's bluegrass.....

by Hippy Mike on 11/1/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

I don't know where to begin - Billy is one of the most amazing guitarists playing today. His musical arrangements begin firmly rooted in bluegrass and then move through so many different musical styles it's difficult to even define. It is simply amazing to see and hear. If you love music and musical talent you owe it to yourself to find a way to see this young man.

  • Phenomenal!

by TJ on 11/1/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 4 out of 5

BMFS is the bomb! Asheville is a great town. The venue tho is very poorly designed with respect to flow and entryways/exits. The worst thing is that they oversold tickets for this event, not cool in a pandemic. Concession stands were at times great, other times had ridiculously long lines.

  • stellar

by cam on 11/1/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

I have never seen a performer pour his soul out on a stage like Billy- every single time. He and his band are magic. No one out there better right now in my opinion.

  • Really disappointed

by Stetson on 11/1/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 3 out of 5

Really missed the original Billy Strings. This was simply a loud and long jam session…

  • Loud

by Punk on 11/1/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 3 out of 5

Way too loud. One song sounded like the band members were tuning their guitars. And mixing blue grass music with punk rock. I’ve heard Billy on YouTube. It was good. Oh well.

  • Bad ass show

by Dustin on 11/1/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

Great Venue, great show, great people. Wish tickets were available first hand and instead of purchased by bots and sold for double the price.

  • Outstanding concert performance in a beautiful venue!

by Craig on 10/4/21Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

A larger percentage of the crowd did not wear masks. It would have been nice if there was an announcement to remind attendees to wear masks!

  • First time at FOX THEATER. EPIC!!!!!

by glassman on 9/14/21Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Saw Billy Strings for the first time. Amazing show. Energy level was insane. Great to be back in live venues.

  • Flashy musicians… too flashy lights

by Vinotunes on 9/13/21Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

First off, the music was tremendous. The whole ensemble was tight and in the zone beginning to end. The light show was fun but they oftentimes blinded the audience’s view of the playing. Spots from out shining in towards the musicians would help. The flashing lights from behind were good to a point but were overwhelming and needed better balance. Obviously, they distracted from an amazing musical show

  • mind blowing experience

by KT on 9/13/21Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen many many concerts in my life. I had heard Billy Strings was great but I had no idea how great! I have not seen anyone play guitar like that in a long time. What supreme talent. Amazing light show. The crowd was on fire. The Fox Theater in Oakland never disappoints. Great acoustics and friendly staff.
