About

Raised in Michigan and now based in Nashville, GRAMMY Award-winning Billy Strings is known as one of music's most compelling artists. Most recently, he unveiled "California Sober," a collaboration with legendary artist Willie Nelson--his first release since partnering with venerable label, Reprise Records.

The collaboration follows Strings' most recent full-length album, Me/And/Dad, which was released last fall and features Strings alongside with his dad, Terry Barber. The product of a longtime dream, the record features new versions of fourteen bluegrass and country classics that the two have been playing together since Strings was a young child.

Since his 2017 debut, Strings has been awarded Best Bluegrass Album at the 63rd GRAMMY Awards, Artist of the Year at the 2022 and 2023 Americana Music Awards, Entertainer of the Year at the 2021, 2022 and 2023 International Bluegrass Music Awards, Best New Headliner at the 2022 Pollstar Awards, Breakthrough Artist of the Pandemic at the 2021 Pollstar Awards and has performed on the 64th GRAMMY Awards, "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," PBS' "Austin City Limits," "Bluegrass Underground" as well as countless sold-out tour dates world-wide.

Billy Strings is nominated for three awards at the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards: Best Bluegrass Album (Me/And/Dad), Best American Roots Song ("California Sober" feat. Willie Nelson) and Best Country Duo/Group Performance ("High Note" with Dierks Bentley).

  • Great show

by Creek on 11/2/19Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Music was great as well as the performance. Saw Billy at French Broad River Festeval in 2017 and knew he would be selling out shows soon.

The Venue is such a amazing place. So much history in that building! This is the 3rd time my husband and I have attended a Billy Strings concert but this one had to be the best. They’re get better each time and I didn’t think they could get better! Concerts are our thing and we go to many. This one ranks in the top 3. So glad that I found tickets. Thanks!!

  • Billy Strings @ Crystal Bay

by Trex on 9/22/19Crystal Bay Club Casino Crown Room - Crystal BayRating: 5 out of 5

Strings & Band were a shockwave professional Americana...a super mix of traditional, and innovative/creative music. The whole band turns in a performance at the highest professional level, while BillyS simply radiates the music as frontman extrordinare [sic]!! RockIt. Also the Crystal Bay club did a great job handling a sellout audiance...cudos to their concert management...made it a great venue.

  • Spectacular

by Vincent Brady on 1/3/19Flagstar Strand Theatre for the Performing Arts - PontiacRating: 5 out of 5

Billy Strings' lifelong devotion to music brings huge joy to every audience he and his band play for. His picking is fast, technical, and unique and surrounds himself with other unique musicians. Bluegrass meets heavy rock. He tears up traditional songs you've heard many times, covers music from Dead/Phish/SCI and other jambands in an amazing way. His songwriting and compositions are what really standout at the shows. His song 'Meet Me At The Creek' has turned into a headbanging anthem like 'Turmoil & Tinfoil.' Another song 'Dust in a Baggie' is a really fun singalong. He's also one of the nicest people you'd ever meet and has lots of energy. You get the feeling everyone in the audience has met him at some point in life and had a positive conversation. You'll find him hanging out with everyone before and after the show and you get the feeling he truly appreciates everyone coming to his show. I was fortunate to see him play in Michigan 6 sets over 3 days for New Years Eve, 4 sets 2 days over Thanksgiving at the end of 2018, and several shows before those and still craving a lot more of his music. You won't want to miss a single note at his shows. I'll be a fan for life! BMFS

  • Amazing night

by Digger on 1/2/19Flagstar Strand Theatre for the Performing Arts - PontiacRating: 5 out of 5

Billy and his band are superb musicians worthy of a much bigger stage. They take the term jamgrass to a whole new level. Original songs, old bluegrass, new bluegrass, southern rock jams & Grateful Dead all included in their set. If you have a chance to see Billy Strings in person, it'll be a night you'll never forget.

  • Awesome

Billy always brings it with his unique high energy approach to bluegrass and he really spiced up this shows with diverse song choices including Little Feat and the Grateful Dead. Loved it!

  • Billy Strings at the Wonder Bar

by Tim Weber on 12/22/18The Wonder Bar - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

Incredible performance, every song was rip-roaring, and finale worthy. Sound seems difficult to do with a bluegrass group, but in this case, the soundman did an admirable job, and last but not least, kudos to the Wonder Bar. Well staffed, great food, and very attentive service! A 5 star evening for sure!

  • I Knew Him When!

by Patrizio43 on 4/3/17Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Seen him many times and it's always fantastic. This is the first time I saw him with the new band and they were very talented musicians. They really enhanced the show because the level of virtuosity was not so great between Billy and them as to have that as a distraction. In other words, they were fantastic too. Just good energy!

  • Billy strings is a guitar God! Bow down to him

by Madframer on 4/3/17Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

The best show you will ever see. If you don't see him your are so missing out! Best in the world at what he does!
