Billy was Awesome; Lynn Memorial Auditorium was not

    by G. F. on 4/6/19Lynn Auditorium - Lynn

My girlfriends and I attended the Billy Idol/Steve Stevens show. I was sooo excited to see him; never had before. Billy and Steve did not disappoint, and deserve five stars. The venue was terrible. We were closer to the back of the theater, Row Z, and could not see the stage at all. There is no incline in this auditorium. The rows don’t seem to be offset. There is no large screen to assist with this problem. After attending this show, I still feel like I haven’t “seen” Billy Idol live. I watched the entire show on my IPhone with my hands raised high above my head. Ridiculous!

    AMAZING!!!

by Cat on 4/6/19Lynn Auditorium - Lynn

I didn't want the show to end! I have been a fan since my teenage years, but was raised by an old school dad who didn't allow me to go to concerts. When Billy Idol came to the Club Casino at Hampton Beach I wanted to go, but was in the middle of a year of chemo treatments and was too sick to attend. Now, I'm almost 49, I have finally seen him live! Still as amazing as ever! My inner teenager is smiling widely and a lifelong bucket list item has been fulfilled! I'm hoping to see him again! As an additional note, I loved all of the human side to this concert. He spoke of his dad and his health struggle with cancer... It touched my heart as I understand. Just amazing!

    Still Fabulous

by Forever Fan on 4/6/19Lynn Auditorium - Lynn

The show with Billy Idol and Steve Stevens was fantastic!! With just the guitar, Billy showed that he still has a great voice and stage presence. In addition to sharing stories about the development of some of his more popular songs, Billy also engaged the audience into singing the chorus for some of his songs, such as "Rebel Yell" and "White Wedding". Steve Stevens also showcased his talent playing while Billy with Billy, but also during his solo song that showed incredible talent with his classical flamenco playing. In a day and age where many artists rely on autotune and overproduction to sound good, it was great to see a format more similar to the old MTV Unplugged show, that showcased true talent and rock songs that will stand the test of time. This show was so good, that I would love to see it again. I saw Billy in the 80s and 90s, and this show was equally fabulous.

    Billy got personal

by Anna & Dubi on 4/1/19Town Hall - New York

We left the concert feeling like we made a friend. His inspiration for his songs told a story in itself. Thanks for being part of our lives since the eighty's. You haven't changed a bit since we saw you in the eighty's at the Ritz. Keep on rocking.

    Fair

    by M. C. on 4/1/19Town Hall - New York

I am a huge Billy Idol fan. He spoke a lot more than he sang, about 20 minutes in between each song which was a bit much and took away from excitement of a concert. On the brighter side, when he did sing he sounded great. The stories should have been kept to the bare minimum and more songs added.

    Way too much talk.....

by Thebandit1015 on 4/1/19Town Hall - New York

I actually thought i knew more songs than he played, or maybe he just didn't play that many hits. Everyone in the theater was a bit upset with all the talking he was doing instead of singing. I think Steve Stevens gave a great performance, and Billy could learn a bit from him on how to keep an audience's attention. Billy spend way too much time with his explanations of the song he was going to perform next. It is nice to have some information on the background of a song... but maybe a minute or two.. not 15 minutes for each song...... all that being said.... when he did sing it was good.....

    Unexpected Idol

    by J. G. on 3/31/19Town Hall - New York

A well conceived and entertaining show, with a different take on highlights from across Billy's career -- great show - don't miss it!

Billy is Still a REBEL after all these years! Awesome show!

by Sgt.DeadBolt on 3/31/19Town Hall - New York

This acoustic set is music and a story. Billy does a lot of talking between songs. Be prepared. But it is a great history lesson and well worth it. He and Steve sounded great. Billy still has great vocals and Steve is playing guitar at his best ever. They played for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. No opening act which I loved!!!! I would see again. My only complaint was the Town Hall Theater. It is a GREAT venue, however the seats are small and very little leg room. If you are over 5'10", the leg room is tough. I am 6'2" and the seats were literally digging into my legs. It hurt. Next time I need a front row or an Aisle seat. Be warned. But a great theater other than that. An A rated show.

    Too much talking....

by ConcertFan on 3/31/19Town Hall - New York

Why didn't someone tell Billy that his story telling is not very good, and, he would lose the audience when he did it...There were at least 3 ten minute stories in the first hour that just killed the show...the last 45 minutes or so was mostly music and was solid..but, when you do acoustic, you gotta keep the audience interested..bad decisions on this show layout..acoustic music was solid when performed.

    BillyIdol/Town Hall

by EDiveg on 3/31/19Town Hall - New York

Town Hall is a great place to see a show because it’s an old small theater... The acoustics are good and no matter where you’re seated you have a good view. Hope to see more shows there.

    Talked too much

    by R. D. on 3/31/19Town Hall - New York

He told too many personal stories and they ran on. Also, he kept pacing back and forth and if he was on “something” I don’t regret the experience, but I won’t repeat it.

    Sing don’t talk

by Deltatower on 3/31/19Town Hall - New York

It’s was great that he came to NY for a concert although unplugged his songs still hold through. But he must’ve talked for 15-20 mins between songs. If it was a book signing about his life I would understand. It was a concert to hear music.

    Stories and songs = Awesomeness!

    by S. B. on 3/31/19Town Hall - New York

With a mix of stories that walk you through his life, and songs that he wrote/performed along the way, you’ll really get to know Billy. This is an autobiographical show with great musicianship, lots of laughter, and tons of fun in an intimate setting - do NOT miss it!

    Billy still has it

by c. on 3/31/19Town Hall - New York

Overall the show was excellent. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the acoustic version of the songs. It was a nice intimate show, Billy told a lot of stories about the songs and music. He did speak a little too much at length a few times. I would have liked to hear him play more of his songs rather than tell stories. Overall though I highly recommend for a fan, he can still rock! Stevens is an excellent musician. Want to see the Vegas show now!

    Impressive

by Jenny and Alex on 3/30/19Town Hall - New York

My 12 year old some was in awe of Steve Stevens ( he is learning to play the guitar). Very intimate, it’s nice to go a concert and enjoy the music without the flash. Billy Idol was very frank and open and his performance was top rate!
