An Intimate Evening with Billy and Steve

by GARV214 on 3/11/19Palace of Fine Arts - San Francisco

Although I have listened to Billy Idol for a number of years, I wouldn't necessarily consider myself a "huge fan" of his music. My wife has been wanting to see Billy Idol perform so we grabbed a pair of tickets for his "unplugged" show at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. The show was great! It was just Billy and Steve playing songs and sharing stories of their lives and the music. If you want a splashy stage show, 1000 watts of thunder, and pyrotechnic blasts....well, this is not the show for you... If you want a brilliant display of guitar playing and some honest, non-auto-tuned, singing, combined with a glimpse into the mind of Billy Idol, then you will enjoy yourself immensely.

    Wow!! Don’t miss this tour

by SFCroatprncss on 3/11/19Palace of Fine Arts - San Francisco

I’ve always been a fan of Billy Idol, and his music. This was a rare, intimate evening with Billy Idol and Steve Stevens. The stories behind the music, a glimpse into Billy’s life, the ups and downs. Listening to his music in an “in-plugged” format was incredible, and not to be missed. We loved every minute of it, and are thrilled we got this experience.

10x better than what I expected.

by GMV on 3/10/19Palace of Fine Arts - San Francisco

From the moment Steve Stevens and Billy Idol took the stage the audience went into an enthusiastic, infectious, standing-room-only frenzy! This was an all acoustic set that rocked like a sold out stadium in a very intimate venue. Every song sounded fresh and contemporary but took you right back to the first time you heard them. It was a perfect mix of nostalgia and fresh/new energy. The stories Billy and Steve told in between songs provided great insights to what was happing in their lives when the songs were created. Great new perspectives that added a whole additional layer of energy and joy to the songs. They killed all the hits and added some unexpected surprises including an amazing solo by Steven’s that would have rendered any “guitar god” speechless. I hope that they come back again soon with this acoustic show so I can sing along with one of the greatest showman and greatest guitarists I’ve ever seen!

    Dynamic Duo

    by M. L. on 3/10/19Moore Theatre - Seattle

I'm bias because I am a huge fan. If you're a casual fan or remember Billy for rebel yell and don't know who Steve is, then you are missing the whole picture of this show. I don't miss a chance to see these guys if they come through my town. I was interested in how it would go being an acoustic set and the only thing I can compare it to is the VH1 Storytellers which I own and watch and love. To me, Steve Stevens is one of if not the best rock guitarists around and he is barely known outside of the true fan base. That is a shame. Although Billy told the same stories we've heard through the years and none of us are as energetic as we used to be, theses two played as well as expected and threw in a few songs that were not expected. You don't go into this show expecting to be blown away but expect to see your favorite rock duo perform some of your favorite hits. Amazing how Steve Stevens can play a guitar with no other instruments around and sound as amazing as he did. Billy sounded great and the two played as well as you can imagine. The crowd was elated and I was very glad they did this show and came through my town. I needed to see them in this form at least once and so very glad I did. It was a great show and one not to be missed if you are a true fan and even a casual fan you might be searching for more. The worse thing Billy ever did was part from Steve and the best thing he ever did was rejoin him. They are meant to be together and jamming just the two of them proves it.

A great show by a great performer at a great SMALL venue.

by Dr. Billy SF on 3/10/19Palace of Fine Arts - San Francisco

A great show by a great performer at a great SMALL venue. We did meet & great, very very brief but worth the $100. experience & guaranteed 1st two rows & early entry. SF Chronicle reporter like it for the same reason I did, but SJ Mercury didn’t like it for the reason I & SF Chronicle liked it. It WAS Billy’s show, his way, his style, telling fans about himself & stories about songs & events that shaped that song. It was very upfront & personal. It didn’t have to be a fast music concert of EVERY hit & non-hit, it was about HIM & his music & his story & ways! All stripped down to him & 1 guitarist, Steve Stevens, a good & longtime career precision rock guitarist. Both very clean & sober & present. Up close Billy’s face is 63, but his body & mind are still that of a 30 year old. Great show & experience....”I want more, more more more more more...”

    Like VH1 Storytellers

by gojamesgo on 3/8/19Moore Theatre - Seattle

It was fantastic, they both still really have it. Intimate, but not unplugged. Great interaction and played all the favorites and a few choice covers. Stevens is probably the most underrated of all the rock guitar players. This show was totally worth it.
