Big Thief on Tour

Big Thief, the group known for uniquely soft and vulnerable folk-rock, hit the road for their 2022 tour celebrating the release of their latest album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You. With a style that draws comparisons to Phoebe Bridgers, Stevie Nicks, alt-J, and Fleet Foxes, the group is best known for the hit single "Paul," a phenomenally composed and equally sad song about an estranged lover trying to get back into your life. The song quickly amassed more than 55 million streams on Spotify and catapulted the group's 2016 debut album, Masterpiece, into underground fame in the indie community, leading to stops at South by Southwest and a live performance on "Late Night with Seth Meyers." The group followed up their debut a year later with Capacity, which peaked at No. 15 on Billboard's Americana/Folk Albums chart. Fans praise Big Thieff's live acoustics, calling the performance "absolutely fantastic" and "one of the best shows I've ever been to." Tickets are selling fast, so get yours to see Big Thief today.

Big Thief Live in Concert

Assembled in 2015 in the borough of Brooklyn by Adrianne Lenker and Buck Meek, Big Thief is a four-piece folk-rock band that also features Max Oleartchik and James Krivchenia. The group has released five studio albums in six years, charting in nine different countries, including reaching No. 1 on Billboard's Americana/Folk Albums chart for their 2022 release, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You. The album also hit the Top 40 on the Billboard 200. Lenker is originally a native of Minnesota who learned music at an early age from her father. At age 12, she knew she wanted to pursue music as a passion and career. She attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and met Meek, a fellow alumnus, and the two kindred spirits formed a powerful relationship both on and off stage. The two wed and divorced shortly after, but still remain bandmates and self-described "deep friends."

    Opening Act

    by Dylan on 8/8/23

I wrongly assumed that Big Thief was opening for Lucinda Williams and was disappointed that she only did a few songs. Lucinda was amazing. We left as soon as she was done not being Big Thief fans. I wish the show description had been clearer.

    Feeling all the feels

    by Mich on 8/8/23

God! It was so good. Big Thief sounded even better live than I thought was possible. They came back for an encore and sang Change and holy crow, it was beautiful, magical, everyone singing along holding themselves feeling all the feels. They also played one of Lucinda’s song which was so cute and sweet. Set list was more than I could ever ask for. THANK YOU BIG THIEF and love you Buck Meek!

    Big thief

    by Vashon guy on 8/8/23

We missed most of Lucinda and Big thief was great. Beers were too expensive and wish there was more veggies options for food. Nice crowd of freindly people. Parking lot was a nightmare at the end. Crowds of that size are no fun for me anymore but fine for a once a summer event to get to see great music.

Big Thief at The Sylvee (Madison, WI)

    by Pbruce96 on 7/30/23

I would highly recommend catching Big Thief live if you ever get the chance. I was lucky enough to be up in the balcony while they played at The Sylvee on 7/27/23. I had a fantastic view of the band, and I do not regret paying extra to have such a wonderful seat. Not only did the band far exceed my expectations, but they also sounded incredible. With as many great songs as they have under their belt it would be impossible to play everyone’s favorite, but I was content with the songs they did play. Also, they played a handful of their songs in a way that was stylistically much heavier than the way they were originally recorded. It is worth noting that Adrianne is also a much better guitarist than I ever could have anticipated, and her stage presence was very pleasant. I truly hope I am able to see Big Thief again next time they are on tour.

    Fantastic show

    by Bryon on 7/30/23

Big Thief does not disappoint. Excellent show from start to finish. Only wish they played longer. Didn’t come on until after 9:30pm. Ended right at 11pm. Otherwise, they sounded great. Stood right behind the soundboard.

    Amazing Experience

    by Concert fanatic on 7/29/23

Great band. Great show. The highlights for me were Indiana, real house, masterpiece, not, and cattails. I was hoping they’d play sadness as a gift, which they played when I saw them in Nashville, and I hope they release it bc it’s one of my favorite songs now! But I can’t complain. Great all around.

Great Night in the Egyptian Room

    by TargaFlorio on 7/29/23

Big Thief put on one of the best shows I've ever seen. The staff was great. There was a medical emergency in the crowd during the show and an on-staff medical professional quickly arrived to provide care. It was a sellout crowd on a 90 degree day so it was warm, but overall, a great experience. And the band was incredible.

    Wow.

    by Nicole on 7/29/23

The whole band is made up of AMAZING performers. Their set was a great variation between their softer and harder songs. Made me feel all of the feelings. Went in not knowing what to expect and had my mind blown. Also - Big Thief fans are hot, so that’s a plus.

    Great Show

    by Jehovah Che on 7/22/23

Big Thief is on a whole other level of live performances. The whole show (despite a big theater) had the intimacy and joie de vivre of a private backyard or barn concert. This band plays as a band— it’s hard to tell where the weight of the song is being carried. It felt like watching a Wilco show or the Jayhawks. Great to see the torch being passed. Don’t miss this tour.

Buck Meek, Adrianne Lenker Oh my!!!!!!!!

    by L. U. on 4/18/23

SO GOOD. I love them. Where the cattails sway by the lonesome moon riding that train in late June. GO see them it's worth it. Adrianne kept cracking jokes. Vampire Empire and Sadness as a gift need to be released ASAP. Buck Opened and he was so good. Love it. Love all around.

    An awesome evening

by T.C.P. on 3/6/23Radio City Music Hall - New York

I was amazed by the talent of this group. I am a violinist and my son is a senior at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan (singer-songwriter program). We went with a group of students from Interlochen and the Program Director, Courtney Kaiser-Sandler to watch this amazing group (I admit I had never heard their music before and was, definitely, the oldest person in the crowd). Kudos to Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek, Max Oleartchik, and James Krivchenia for imbuing the audience with their passion and joy in making music. Adrianne, I love how you connected with the audience and just bared your soul to us. Thank you. I just want to be your BFF! One caveat. I was a violinist in a popular music orchestra in Costa Rica (where I now live) for many years and this was an issue that always comes up with a solo violin playing along with a band. I could not hear Big Thief´s violinist at all. I recommend a more careful soundcheck with the violin. But, I wish you could play in Costa Rica. Latin America needs to hear you!

    Perfect

    by S. P. on 3/3/23

Great lineup of songs that incorperates a good amount of popular songs, fan favorites, and unreleased music. Loud show with great mixing. Adrienne gave some insane guitar solos and talked alot inbetween songs. Crowed was good but a little stiff.

Had several people walk out early and one near fight. The room was a bit bright, but the music was excellent.

Big Thief was amazing, sound was a bit unbearable

by Memz on 2/18/23Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater - Austin

Second time seeing Big Thief and this time in a larger venue. They did an amazing job when playin, but could tell they were having tech difficulties, especially between songs. Sound was at times unbearably loud, sounding like a jumbled mess and not at all mixed for the venue. While, yes, it’s a concert and it should be loud, this was way louder than previous experiences at Moody Theatre.

    Beautiful experience

    by A. B. on 2/16/23

Really great show. The band was completely in sync and the show felt immersive as they opted to play underrated songs and different renditions of older songs.

    Sobbed

    by G on 2/5/23State Theatre - Portland

It was so good. They rocked hard and soft and i sobbed during change. I can’t remember them playing it now because i was sobbing too hard which is kind of unfortunate. They ended on spud infinity and it was fantastic. Unfortunately they did not play paul nor time escaping which was odd but nothing could detract from that life changing experience:)
