Why call it a Comicon when it's not.
by Disappointed again.... on 10/9/23Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San AntonioRating: 1 out of 5I was quite disappointed with this year's Big Comic Comicon. If you're a collector of comics and related materials like I am, it left a lot to be desired. There were only two comic vendors, and the event seemed to be dominated by startups and hobbyists trying to make a name for themselves in popular culture. While there were certainly celebrities and artists present, the heart of any comic con lies in its comic book, toy vendors, and artists. It felt more like a "popular culture con"than a true comic convention. My family, consisting of six members, has decided not to attend any more of these conventions, let alone stay for the weekend at a downtown hotel or dine at the restaurants downtown. The projected attendance numbers also failed to impress. I understand the Chamber of Commerce may have been pleased, but it's no wonder the numbers were low when you can walk through the entire show in just an hour. In the future, I won't be able to attend any more of these "comic cons."
