About

BETTER THAN EZRA IN CONCERT:

New Orleans' hometown heroes Better Than Ezra dominated '90s airwaves with a string of ubiquitous, fuzzed-out alt-rock hits like "Good" and "Desperately Wanting." The band's poppy, sing-along anthems came to define the sound of a generation, making each live show something of a reunion for their devoted fans. The elation was palpable at their 2013 shows, and with a new album due out in summer 2014, Better than Ezra will be delivering bigger than ever on their 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed by four Louisiana State University students in the late '80s, Better Than Ezra cut its teeth performing at fraternities and house parties before going on to generate buzz with their cassette-only demos. After self-releasing 1993's Deluxe, the band landed a deal with Elektra Records, who reissued the album in 1995. The record was an overnight sensation upon its re-release, spawning hits like "Good" and "Rosealia" and going on to achieve platinum certification from the RIAA. Five more albums of infectious alt-rock would follow, setting the stage for a highly anticipated new album in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Great show! Perfect blend of old and new, humor and covers...crowd ranged from early 20s to 50s and all seemed to have a great time!"

"BTE does such a fantastic job of providing a unique show... They always have new musicians backing up or guests who make each show unforgettable in its own way."

BTE and Hey Steve were Great; HOB not!

by MM37 on 5/7/24House of Blues New Orleans - New Orleans

BTE was great as always! Enjoyed Hey Steve and their high energy! Getting in was easy. But dang we almost died due to the heat inside the building. It was ridiculous; at least two people passed out and heck thought the lead singer of Hey Steve was going to pass out. Even BTE complained about it! It was bad last year but this year was worse... doubt we will be back unfortunately. A/C in NOLA is mandatory...

    Super-fun show by veteran rockers!

by Old Guy on 5/6/24House of Blues New Orleans - New Orleans

I was a regular at BTE shows in the early 1990s, but hadn't seen them in 20+ years. A friend noticed the HOB shows while we planned Jazz Fest activities, and we decided to revisit some of the fun from our school years by taking in the Friday night show. Wow. I had forgotten how much fun a Better Than Ezra show can be. In addition to fantastic music, I noticed that Kevin Griffin has grown a lot as a front man -- in addition to working the crowd, he was funny and entertaining between numbers. I don't remember another show where I laughed so much at the banter -- it made the show that much more fun. And the music ... it gave me massive nostalgia to hear the older numbers, and I really liked their newer material. I left the show wondering why I had let so much time pass between going to see them live. Suffice it to say, it won't happen again -- I'll be hitting BTE shows whenever I can find them, and I've been listening to the original Sweet Records copy of "Deluxe"all day today. This BTW show was just great music, lots of fun and plenty of laughter. Well worth the ticket - I'm so glad I went!

    The Most Amazing Night

by peacedaisies on 11/19/23House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

House of Blues Chicago is a beautiful space! Not huge but not small but truly perfect for a night with Better Than Ezra! I was able to be in the front row and it was a dream come true! They put on such an amazing show. The last time I saw them live was in the mid 90s and they were just as great now as they were then. Looking forward to many more BTE shows in the future!

    Great Night

by El Chavas on 11/19/23House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

They play great music, talk a lot with the crowd. Funny, witty, nice to people. Even had a little meet and greet at the end. And the opening act by Howie Day is just amazing! What an awesome night!

    Awesome concert!!

by KevinG on 11/15/23House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

My wife and I saw BTE at the House of Blues in Dallas, and it was an awesome concert!! Howie Day opened to play his magic on the looping machines (like Ed Sheeran), and when BTE came out, the energy was up and they sounded great! I'd definitely go see them again - especially at this venue.

The band is always so fun. They are free flowing. I do like the covers but I really wish they played more Better than Ezra!! I love them so much. The drummer from course of empire is so awesome. Love that guy. Wish the show started at the time posted.

Great show, went on 2+ hours late

by TexasMusic1980 on 11/15/23House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

The show time on the tickets was 6:30. They went on after 9pm. We rushed dinner and our friends had to pay babysitters longer, for no reason. Once they came on it was a good show, but I personally would not want to roll the dice with the start time again.

HOB remains one of Dallas’ best small venues.

by JAD TX on 11/15/23House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

Howie Day walked out on stage and thus began a great night of music. It was a first experience to see him live and no one was disappointed. Better Than Ezra matched the magic with an engaging set of new and best of their songbook (with a few connecting covers that had the crowd singing).
