About

BETTER THAN EZRA IN CONCERT:

New Orleans' hometown heroes Better Than Ezra dominated '90s airwaves with a string of ubiquitous, fuzzed-out alt-rock hits like "Good" and "Desperately Wanting." The band's poppy, sing-along anthems came to define the sound of a generation, making each live show something of a reunion for their devoted fans. The elation was palpable at their 2013 shows, and with a new album due out in summer 2014, Better than Ezra will be delivering bigger than ever on their 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed by four Louisiana State University students in the late '80s, Better Than Ezra cut its teeth performing at fraternities and house parties before going on to generate buzz with their cassette-only demos. After self-releasing 1993's Deluxe, the band landed a deal with Elektra Records, who reissued the album in 1995. The record was an overnight sensation upon its re-release, spawning hits like "Good" and "Rosealia" and going on to achieve platinum certification from the RIAA. Five more albums of infectious alt-rock would follow, setting the stage for a highly anticipated new album in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Great show! Ezra never disappoints! They are amazingly talented and have fun performing so that makes it so great!"

"Great show! Perfect blend of old and new, humor and covers...crowd ranged from early 20s to 50s and all seemed to have a great time!"

"BTE does such a fantastic job of providing a unique show... They always have new musicians backing up or guests who make each show unforgettable in its own way."

    Great show, not venue

by Jake on 11/13/23L'Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge - Baton Rouge

The show was great and the artists did a great job. The venue was, however, bad. The place was great but for electronic tickets the hotel blocks service. Ended up missing the first 30 minutes because no one would help. After getting to the venue 30 minutes early it took over an hour to get the hotel to give us wifi (we didn’t stay at the hotel) so that we could get in the show. L’Auberge made it a nightmare to get in. BTE and Howie were amazing!

Howie Day - Great, BTE TERRIBLE!

by Jeff on 11/13/23Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

Was shocked about how bad Better Than Ezra was. The lead singer's voice was terrible and the guitarist singing backup and (trying) to pay harmonica should go back to his day job at the dairy farm. 10's of concerts over the years, and this has to be one of the worst. We left after four BTE songs; should've left after Howie Day who was, as always, great. Maybe next time, BTE can open for Howie Day?

    A wonderful experience!

by Aaron on 11/12/23Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

I attended the Better Than Ezra show on 11/9/23 and had a wonderful experience. The staff I interacted with were friendly and welcoming. The venue was clean and well kept. The sound quality was quite good as well. It was quite warm in the pit area, but I suppose that’s to be expected for this kind of setting. My only complaint is that the door to the outside smoking area was kept open, allowing smoke to enter the rear standing area quite easily. Overall, the evening was a great deal of fun. I look forward to returning to Buckhead Theater for more shows in the future.

    Great time by all

    by Lights_Sprockets on 11/12/23Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

We enjoyed every minute of the show. I found their cover of INXS, "Never Tear Us Apart"rocked the theater. Their set list interposed with comments from Kevin, had the audience in the bands hands. There wasn't one song that disappointed. I have to mention the drummer, Michael Jerome was extraordinary. If you thought you liked hearing them on the radio or streaming, they are even better live.

    Better than Ever

by Mike H on 11/12/23Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

They played the hits. The covers. The deep cuts. Everything you have come to expect from them over the years. They always turn it up a notch when they hit Atlanta. They’re home away from home thanks to 99 X all those years ago.

    Great concert, terrible sound

by MM on 11/11/23Lincoln Theatre - Washington

Love BTE but the sound way overpowered Kevin and you couldn't hear him or the guitars at all. Figured they would fix the issue as the concert went on but it didn't happen. We were about half way up on the floor and everyone around us said the same thing.

    Better Than Ezra

by Josie on 11/10/23Lincoln Theatre - Washington

I love this band and they always put on a stellar show. They play a good mix of classic hits, deep cuts, and a few well-known covers, with some hilarious banter thrown in. Always a must-see!

    Shoulda stayed home

by Skizh on 11/9/23Lincoln Theatre - Washington

I'm sorry but we were 10 seconds into the first song and I realized Kevin's voice was shot. He struggled to find his pitch and missed it most of the time. Others around me noticed it too. The band was tight but without a strong lead vocal the show was torture to sit through. I doubt Kevin was wearing in-ear vocal monitors. I counted about a dozen people that left before the show was over. I managed to stay to the end of the set but left before the encore. A big fan of the original recordings but I won't be buying tickets to see BTE ever again.

    Awesome Show

by Big T on 11/9/23Lincoln Theatre - Washington

Better Than Ezra rocked the Lincoln again! An amazing show with all the hits bringing out of this world energy to a DC landmark. BTE just continues to delight and is simply the best live rock show running! Looking forward to the next time they come to town!!!

    Fool me twice

    by Ex-Ezralite on 11/9/23

I wrote an honest, lengthy, negative review of the BTE Lincoln Theatre show (which mysteriously was never posted). I get it: everyone involved has tickets to sell. Forewarned is forearmed.

    Less than expected

by Disappointed on 11/8/23Lincoln Theatre - Washington

Not sure if it was the venue or the sound engineer but the sound was muddy and uninspiring. Acoustic numbers were fine and sharp but the rest was less than I expected.

    Unbelievably Talented Rock Band

by Pete & Maureen on 8/13/23

This was my first time ever seeing Better Than Ezra live in Napa, CA at the Oxbow Riverstage...a beautiful outdoor setting. The headliner was Train whom I love and the reason I purchased front row tickets. I have to say that BTE blew me away and stole my heart with their energetic, passionate and entertaining performance. Kevin Griffin is a superstar, he interacted with the crowd on every level, put on a great show and kept everyone on their feet. I would gladly see them live again any day... their performance was better than Train's. The drummer, Michael Jerome is legend in his own right. Kudos to you guys, thank you for a unbelievable summer evening I will never forget!

    Still rockn’

    Great show

    by Kwill on 8/11/23

Great show! We did think the bass was just a bit overpowering. We like to hear a bit more of the lyrics and chords, and it was sometimes hard to hear those.

    Still having fun on stage!

    by SomethingintheWilderness on 8/11/23

I love to see a band having so much fun on stage! They played some his, deep cuts, covers, and they genuinely seem to have a good time up there! It was energetic, interactive, and the band obviously loves to play shows. The venue was nice. The sound was a little off,not sure if it was the venue sound people or the artist's. That's the only thing I'd change if I could.

    Great energy and song selection

    by G.R. on 8/11/23

I've been a fan of Better than Ezra for many years and have seen them at least 6 times live, 1st time at this venue. This was one of the best BTE shows I have attended. Kevin is always hilarious, it's like getting a stand up comedy show and music performance all in one. The whole band is very talented and still at the top of their game. I really enjoyed the set list for this show, when they opened with "In the Blood"I knew I was going to love it. Great mix of classics with some new stuff, and covers thrown in for fun. Icing on the cake was finally getting to meet them after the show and getting some merch signed. John Harvie was the opener for BTE and that was probably the 2nd best surprise of the night (1st was getting the opportunity for a meet and greet, which I wasn't expecting). I had not heard of him prior to this show but I am now a fan and have been listening through his songs since the show. Excellent vocals, charisma, and a really nice guy too. We feel like we lucked out!
