About

Ben Folds is widely regarded as one of the major music influencers of our generation.

He's created an enormous body of genre-bending music that includes pop albums with Ben Folds Five, multiple solo albums, and numerous collaborative records. His last album was a blend of pop songs and his Concerto for Piano and Orchestra that soared to #1 on both the Billboard classical and classical crossover charts.

For over a decade he's performed with some of the world's greatest symphony orchestras, and currently serves as the first ever Artistic Advisor to the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center.

Folds released his first book - a collection of interrelated essays, anecdotes and lessons about art, life and music - in 2019, which debuted as a New York Times Best Seller, and is currently hosting a podcast series spinoff of his book entitled "Lightning Bugs: Conversations with Ben Folds." In addition to solo rock and orchestral touring, he's also developing a new unscripted tv series with Fred Rogers Productions, continues to appear in various film/tv guest starring roles, and is working on two new albums.

An avid photographer, Folds is also a member of the prestigious Sony Artisans of Imagery, has worked as an assignment photo editor for National Geographic, and was featured in a mini-documentary by the Kennedy Center's Digital Project on his photographic work.

An outspoken champion for arts education and music therapy funding in our nation's public schools, has served for over five years as an active member of the distinguished Artist Committee of Americans For The Arts (AFTA), and serves on the Board of AFTA's Arts Action Fund. He also served as Chairman of the Arts Action Fund's ArtsVote2020 national initiative that encouraged voter engagement in the 2020 US elections, and continually advocates for improving public policies for the arts and arts education.

Last night, Ben Folds brought the house down - as he always does. Like a fine wine, he seems to only improve with age!!! It's rare in today's music industry that a performer entertain so effortlessly - no pyro, no dancers, no gimmick needed. Ben, his piano, his unmistakable voice and lyrics, his humor - just pure, raw talent! Need I say more?! His musical genious never fails to amaze me...I could honestly listen to him every day!

I've been to three concerts of Mr. Ben Folds. My first was pretty good. second- unforgettable. the third one--last nights-- amazing, Ben was so connected with his audience and played some obscure songs that i absolutely love, such as Give Judy My Notice and Time. Real Ben Folds fans really would've enjoyed the show.

The old Ben is back, knocking out numbers from album one to the present and with the sarcastic and quick wit that makes him the superb performer he is.

My 4th time seeing Ben Folds. He always puts on a great show. The only thing I would have preferred was a different venue- I hate sitting during shows.

  • Witty, Powerful and Energetic

This show was amazing. I have never seen Ben Folds live and was blown away by his ability to captivate an entire theater as he pounded away on the piano and drums. He even had the audience sing along at one point. The venue Town Hall was quaint and beautiful, and had a real homey feel. I will definitely be seeing him again! xoxo

I've seen him live before, but, he just gets better. And the band that opened up for him were fantastic!! we even bought her CD. Such talent. What a night.

  • Excellent Show

by WESTXBKLYN on 4/14/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Folds is a bit of a musical genius so the music is great...but his on stage persona, honesty and sense of fun bring everything up a notch. No big support band here. He played piano, sang and did a bit of accapella sound work on the mike. Warm up singer and guitarist joined for "You Don't Know Me". Other than that it was just Ben & Piano, which was wonderful because he knows his music and it's timing and sounds live just like he does on his recordings (which is unfortunately rare in this day of studio mixing).

  • Amazaing Show!!

I had the best time!!! He really is amazing, he was funny and really got you into the music, even if I didn't know the songs they were all my favorite when hearing them live.

  • Amazing show!!

This was my fifth Ben Folds and each show continues to be better than the last. Folds is very engaging with the audience. If I had the time and money, I would follow Folds on tour. Absolutely see this show if possible!

Great show. Ben Folds never disappoints. We had great seats right behind his back so we were able to watch his madman hands.

  • Best live performance

by JacqAttack on 4/14/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Yet again Ben Folds delivers an upbeat, yet emotionally moving live performance. If you've seen him with the band you certainly know that they can rock the house but if you've never seen him in his most natural state - a man with a piano - then you are missing out. He has an honest, natural talent like no other.
