Bat for Lashes blowout Webster Hall!

by SistahSpinstah on 8/13/09Webster Hall - New York

This was the third time I managed to catch Bat for Lashes on their North American tour as they stopped in New York so obviously I'm a pretty huge fan. Looks like threes a charm because this was certainly their best performance yet! Natasha Khan's setlist was flawless and organically moved from her gorgeous gut-wrenching ballads to her moody shake-your-booty electronic songs. Her ethereal energy and charm are captivating. With a powerful and sultry voice, she appeared predatory as she dashed across stage in front of a giant mural painted with a late 80's style howling wolf, all purple and turquoise. She's truly a unique talent and it's a treat to see her perform at such a small venue. It's only her sophomore album but with performances like this, she is bound to continue along the road to super indie-rock stardom and only play larger venues. The explosive energy and enthusiasm of her band only augmented the show's prolific impact. I don't think a single soul could claim disappointment. I attended the show with a friend who knew very little of her music. Rest assure that after he left the show, he went home and quickly downloaded both albums within an hour. If that doesnt say it all, then I dont know what does. Natasha Khan aka Bat for Lashes: bonafide musical genius!

Natasha really knows how to control a stage! whether she's smiling and dancing, tambourine in the air or sitting behind a piano - the audience is hanging on her every word. she's a beautiful being and i feel lucky to have seen such an amazing show.

    Natasha Khan-the amazing desert goddess!

by nonono on 8/13/09Webster Hall - New York

By far one of the most beautiful and sincere performances I have ever seen. Natasha Khan, is the definition of what a true artist ought to be. Her voice and music reverberated off the walls in the most warm and wonderful way, and just surrounded your whole being. Her set was bit kitschy (in a good way) with a combination of Native American tapestries mixed with unusual antiques you'd find in your grandmas attic (think old angel tree toppers and taxidermy birds). Her voice was on-point all night, and she threw in a few solo performances, proving to the audience the weight of her talent. Overall, an amazing experience.

    Even better live!

by ghropi on 8/13/09Webster Hall - New York

I've had both Bat for Lashes albums on repeat for a few months now and was really looking forward to the show. I wasn't disappointed! All of the songs (especially the more upbeat ones) really came to life during the show. I wish they were playing in NYC again soon - I'd definitely love to see them a second time around!

Bat For Lashes amazing as always

by CSparkles09 on 8/13/09Webster Hall - New York

the opening act had great and mellow energy. Bat For Lashes was amazing as always although this set felt shorter in comparison to ones in the past, the band was able to keep the crowd going and asking for more

    Amazing Live Show

by Hethaaaa on 8/11/09Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

Natasha Kahn as the most amazing talent. Her voice, at once soft and whispery then soaring. The stage was set with all that glittered underneath a glowing moon & howling wolf banner. Natasha was barefoot with a simple costume of black leggings and a billowy gold sheath that glittered when it caught the light. Her band is not bad either! The drums were booming and powerful and the audience was immediately sucked in once the show started. Natasha & co. switched around to different instruments including the autoharp, harpsichord, guitar, keyboard, & lone kettle drum.

    Both sweet, and high energy.

Excellent presentation and delivery. She is very humble, i don't think she realizes how crazy her fans are about her music!

    Bat for Lashes was exceptional!!!

by boogieboy on 8/9/09Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

From the surrealistic weather outside to the fact that she was starting her tour here in Minneapolis...all of the circumstances collided into one unforgettable evening. Her sound pulled us into her playground of colorful soundscapes alongside her mystical vocals that could make a grown man cry. What a eclectic mix of people in attendance, you and old, gay and straight, all along for the ride that kept on building into the climax of 'Daniel' to finish the second encore with fierce passion. If you want to lose yourself for one evening, look no further

Very boring and monotonous. The audience's attention was gone after 15 minutes.

Bat For Lashes is simply beautiful

by kellycadaver on 8/8/09Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

I was completely impressed with everything about this show. The drumming was amazing, the sound was very tight, the reverb on the mics were perfect, and the lighting was stunning. I think the venue was a nice choice for this band as well, since The Varsity theater definitely has an ambience to it that compliments the general vibe of this particular band. The sound was so good, it was almost as if it hung in the air and consumed you.

    Bat for Lashes was stunning.

The energy and atmosphere of the whole show was unforgettable. Natasha's voice combined with Sarah, Charlotte and Ben... it was magic. I loved every second.

    Amazing show.

by Skully on 8/8/09Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

I don't know how you fit that big of a voice and that much talent into such a tiny package, but Natasha Khan is the real deal. She and her band, multi-instrumentalists all, filled the Varsity Theater with glorious noise. The concert was a perfect mix of intimate, emotional moments and outsize fairy-glen rock-and-roll pageantry. Between songs, Ms. Khan was humble and almost shy, somewhat taken aback by the thunderous applause, howls, whistles, and shouts of "thank you" and "I love you!" The only thing better than a band playing a perfect concert is experiencing it with a crowd of people who are sending that energy right back to the band. We were all in Bat For Lashes' world for the night, would have stayed there for hours longer if we could.

    Natasha was very good!

by rhrowland on 7/14/09The Crocodile - Seattle

The show was very good the whole band played well. Natasha sang my favorite Bat For Lashes songs including "Horse and I". The show was sold out so it was packed! Too tight for a club perhaps. There was a drunk guy being rude up front, that was unfortunate. If she is ever playing again near you, you should go!
