I will never get those 90 minutes back... Terribly disappointed in this show. Bought the tickets for my girlfriend and her parents... 10 minutes into the show I was embarrassed.
I went to BWC not knowing entirely what to expect but knowing that I love improv and I love musicals---so why not combine the two? My boyfriend had seen BWC a decade ago and as we were in Chicago on a Friday night, we got tickets. I have never laughed so hard in my life!! The actors were positively brilliant (their rhyming is jaw-droppingly hysterical!), the music was a riot, and the entire show was intimate (small venue) and personable (they took the title from the audience and no one was more than 15 rows away from the stage/floor). The bottom line is that if I could see Baby Wants Candy every Friday night, I absolutely would! The tickets are SO reasonably priced ($15 ish), the improv band is terrific, and the show is over in an hour--perfectly timed to leave you wanting more but unsure if your stomach can handle any more laughter that night without hurting in the morning. Phenomenal experience and I will undoubtedly be going again next time I am in Chicago and/or New York! LOVED IT!!!!
If you're looking for a great time and some non-stop comedy on a friday night, go see Baby Wants Candy! We were constantly laughing and in awe of how good and creative the actors/ actresses were!! I will be going again, many times.
I was amused the entire time - the hour flew by , and I definitely will go back again with my room mate.
Baby wants Candy is the best improv show I've ever seen. The show changes every show. The cast is great and will have you cracking up the entire time!!
What a great show! It was really amazing to watch these talented people put together an entire musical, on the spot. It was funny, and remarkable. I will definitely return.
BWC was very interesting and at times very funny. It was interesting how creative some actors were, whereas some knew almost nothing about how to improvisation an entire musical and didn't participate as much. I would go with friends on a Friday night again, but maybe not as a "main event" for the weekend. The ticket price was fair and parking was free - so I couldn't complain about that. Although we had some difficulty finding the Apollo (a very confusing 3 way street crossing that was not marked very well - in addition to a lot of one-way streets, and mapquest was wrong), it was easy and the staff was very friendly. Take a cab to the theatre - I think I would have had more fun if we had. Oh - the subject matter - a prophet baby - was a little strange and a bit of a sacrilege - including the part about two women creating a prophet baby - which is of course impossible - but maybe that made it more funny.
If you're looking for something different to do on a weekend night and enjoy laughing, look no further than Baby Wants Candy. These guys and girls are awesome. Completely ad-libbed musical for 1 hour based on an audience suggestion. For the show we attended, they performed "A Muppets Tribute to Michael Jackson". Granted, the improv didn't have much to do with the Muppets or with Michael Jackson, but it was hilarious nonetheless. I didn't know what was more impressive, the wit of the actors or the ability of the band to play music on the spot that blended in seamlessly with the "plot". In all in, it was an absolute blast and well worth the price of admission!
This was our second time to see this very creative and funny show. Each time is totally different. We took several friends. Everyone gave them an outstanding review.
