B2K In Concert

For a whirlwind two years in the early 2000s, boy band B2K held the world in their sensitive but rugged palms, creating bouncy, hip-hop–enhanced R&B with P. Diddy ("Bump, Bump, Bump") and even starring in a blockbuster dance drama (You Got Served) that showcased their lithe bodies and voices equally. Though the group split up in 2004, late 2018 brought the welcome news that Omarion, Fizz, Boog, and Raz-B are back together and ready to inspire screams and swoons around the U.S. with The Millennium Tour, a bill stacked with names who also call up the flash and flirtation of the aughts: Pretty Ricky, Chingy, Mario, Lloyd, and more.

Boys of the New Millennium, as they're officially known, began as four ambitious kids mostly from southern Los Angeles (Inglewood, Compton, Watts) brought together by industry veteran Chris Stokes, the guru behind predecessors Immature/IMx. But after B2K dropped a self-titled debut in 2002 — filled with slinky bump-n-grinders like "Gots Ta Be" and jiggy dance grooves like "Uh Huh" — it was clear they had a seductive magic all their own. Their recurring spots on the legendary, aptly named Scream tours were thrilling combinations of synchronized dance, perfect harmonies, and intimate interactions with an audience that never stopped squealing.

As their faces plastered the walls of more and more teens' bedrooms around the world, B2K worked tirelessly to please, releasing a splashy holiday collection called Santa Hooked Me Up (don't sleep on the swagged-up "Sexy Boy Christmas") and a second album, Pandemonium!, both before the dawn of 2003. The new songs expertly paired percussive production evoking Timbaland and the Neptunes with grade A songwriting by the likes of R. Kelly ("Girlfriend"). All of the boys' lyrical boasting and heartbreaking was backed up by their starring roles in and guest-studded soundtrack for 2004 flick You Got Served, which remains a cult favorite.

While B2K called it quits that same year, their talent, success, and youth ensured more to come. Lead man Omarion became a Grammy-nominated master of bedroom-oriented R&B and also joined rapper Fizz on VH1's Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood. Boog and Raz-B have also pursued careers across music and film/TV, occasionally crossing paths with their bandmates, but few outside endeavors have stirred up as much fervor as the B2K reunion announcement.

The concert was great! It was my first concert. Every group was amazing. But I do wish B2K would have done more songs. I enjoyed so much of the concert that I can't pick a favorite. I would definitely go again.

  • Bring back the 00s

by Mande on 4/23/19Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land - Sugar LandRating: 5 out of 5

In terms of lighting and set, only Mario and B2K and Pretty Ricky had any diversity. The rest of the acts just had a black backdrop with no dancers. I did get there late so I missed Chingy's portion as he was the opening act although he came out again during the Ying Yang Twins. B2K performed like their seven singles however any other songs were part of a medley. Omarion was like a third or half of their set and he didn't even do all songs that most people knew. Mario felt too rehearsed, didn't give enough love to his songs. Overall the show was super fun, I heard songs that I hadn't in years.

  • great show

I loved the show. every moment of it, from start to finish. the dj was jamming before any of the performers got on. the host was great. the crowd was lit. the venue was one of theee best i have been to. i wish my guys, b2k, would have performed more songs because i could have gone all night. but other than that it was amazeballs.

  • Did not care too much for B2K set.

by D. on 4/23/19Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land - Sugar LandRating: 2 out of 5

I believe b2K set could have been a lot better. The sound system was not great and the wait time in between Mario and B2K was a energy killer. They comedian guy in between sets was funny but overall I rate the entire show a C-

  • Much needed blast from the past

by Z. S. on 4/23/19Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land - Sugar LandRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was great! Lots of good music! I loved every song and every performer. My sister and I did the meet and greet. We missed watching Chingy because they were behind, but my picture was worth it and we had great seats. I wish i had fully understood the difference between the meet and greet and the experience package because I absolutely would've upgraded! The descriptions for the presales were very vague. Still well worth the money! 😍

It was very good show, thought out but just very stiff as well, more with B2k. Ying Yang twins were the most and best show because they enjoy the audience and the stage. Including pretty ricky.

  • Fountain of youth?

by B. B. on 4/23/19Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land - Sugar LandRating: 4 out of 5

I found some excitement and energy I haven’t had in years. This was an excellent concert. I was a little bummed we didn’t have surprises in the way other cities did and leaving the venue was a nightmare(but that’s not a reflection of the concert). I don’t think I sat down longer than 2 minutes. I laughed, I cried, I danced, I screamed my lungs out and felt like I was 13/14 again. It was incredible and well put together. I enjoyed the set and really appreciated that they put some smooth R&B after the 20+ min uninterrupted twerk session that was the ying yang twins. Because I needed to sit lol. Super great show!!

  • Millennium Tour

by B. M. on 4/23/19Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land - Sugar LandRating: 5 out of 5

Everything about the tour was great! There were no issues with parking. The drinks at the bar were a little pricey but they served their purpose. Everything was very organized and visitor friendly. My experience was definitely a memorable one!

  • Best Show Ever!

by TeeMonique on 4/23/19Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land - Sugar LandRating: 5 out of 5

From every performer there was never a dull moment. We stood all night dancing & there was an unbelievable vibe that was unexplainable. The best money I’ve ever spent.

  • Loved it

by L. P. on 4/23/19Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land - Sugar LandRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing show !! The venue is nice and parking wasn't to bad ! Section 105 row M and L are awesome if you dont get middle or front row seats you can still very well and be pretty close to stage.

  • LOVED the artist but this venue is HOT!! Like sweat rolling!

by Tee on 4/23/19Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land - Sugar LandRating: 4 out of 5

I absolutely loved everyone who performed on this tour! They all did so great and really entertained the crowd! With so many people performing back to back it was hardly a chance to catch your breath! lol. I am so glad B2K came back together for this, they did amazing!!!! However, when it comes to the place this concert was held, it was extremely hot! Like sweat was rolling down my back kind of hot! Even the people near kept mentioning how warm it was in the place. Had the temperature would have been cooler, I would have given this tour a 5 out of 5 rating. Overall, I truly enjoyed myself though!

  • Great show!

by Swat on 4/23/19Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land - Sugar LandRating: 5 out of 5

The show did start right on time which I figured so I was in my seat by 8 sharp! Everyone did a great job! My favorite was Lloyd because I just love his music! However, the Ying Yang twins had everyone turnt up! Even the host was hilarious, he kept us laughing! I overall had a great time everyone did such a great job!
