About

Named in 2011 as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine, Sting remains one of music’s major players, touring and recording at a prolific rate. Inspired by a musical he penned by the same name, Sting released his 11th solo album, The Last Ship, in September, 2013. The musical, a telling of the demise of the shipbuilding industry in Sting’s hometown of Wallsall, UK, opens on Broadway in 2014.

Singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, world music aficionado, activist, actor, and philanthropist, Sting has worn a multitude of hats over a career that goes all the way back to the early ‘70s. While known as the voice, songwriter, and bassist for the phenomenally successful band The Police, it is as a solo artist that the breadth of his talents have truly shone. From his beginnings as a brash punk rocker, Sting evolved into an artist who incorporated everything from jazz to reggae to classical. His 1985 release, Dream of the Blue Turtles, set the tone for his metamorphosis as a solo artist and was notable for his use of renowned jazz musicians within a pop rock setting.

Sting was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 as a member of the Police, and has won a total of 16 Grammy Awards for his work with the band and as a soloist. Add to that three Brit Awards, a Golden Globe, Emmy Award, and several Oscar nominations and one begin to understand the scope of his popularity. Always a crowd pleaser in a concert setting, ticket sales for Sting shows are strong across the globe. Over the course of their career, Sting has played many famous venues, like Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion and Madison Square Garden.

    Good but late

by Marco on 10/24/23The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

Sting's performance was excellent and like always The Pavilion was a comfortable place for enjoying good music. But, I think that concerts on Sundays should start earlier than 8:45 pm.

    Great Show

by Josh on 10/23/23The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

Great show. Sting sounded great. He cant hit all the notes like he used to, but he knows what he has and uses it. The band did a great job as well as his opening act Joe Sumner.

    Great concert

by MMcAdoo on 10/20/23The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

I totally enjoyed Sting - he and his son and band didd a great job. The workers at Cynthia Woods were plentiful and helpful. No one searched my clear purse I bought especially for the event. I was a little surprised that the people next to me didn't come until 1/2 way through the concert and they were drunk and then they left again . Overall a very well behaved audience. I wanted to go out the same gate where I came in but that didn't work - they wouldn't let me go back into the seating area after I walked out the other way. But luckily I did find my way back to my car. Since I'd gone alone I was a little concerned. But it was well lit and lots of folks around to help. Cynthia Woods is a great place for a concert - I drove all the way from Dallas on my own to see it.

    Sting's songs hold up well

by D.R. on 10/20/23The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - Irving

Sting played a wide assortment of his solo work and hits her wrote while in the Police. His songs are his greatest strength. He sounded and played excellently. His son, Joe Sumner, opening was a nice addition, and their due on "King of Pain"was outstanding!

    Good show, lousy premium

by Stingster on 10/19/23The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - Irving

Thoroughly enjoyed Sting. However, the price paid for the premium package was definitely not worth it. This package consisted of early entry, some (so-so) snack food, a couple of drinks, a small embroidered blanket and a small, pick-shaped souvenier on a lanyard. And I thought the photo op would be something more than a concert decoration. Not really worth it.

    He's still got it.

by BSC on 10/19/23The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

A beautiful night for an outdoor concert. Sting gave the fans just what they wanted. The hits. The Police stuff, the solo stuff. A great husband and wife date night.

That was one of the best concerts I have ever been too. His voice is still as strong and amazing as it has ever been. The concert was well paced. Can’t wait to see him again!

    Sting is fantastic live!

by AnnJ on 10/19/23The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

Sting is just amazing live! He still sounds (and looks) fantastic! He has a lovely relaxed way in his performances that makes them even more enjoyable. In this tour, he covers his biggest songs over all of the decades that he has been writing and singing. If you like any of Sting's songs, I would recommend seeing him in concert!
