About

Kevin Patrick Smith is an American filmmaker, actor, comedian, comic book writer, author, YouTuber, and podcaster. He came to prominence with the low-budget comedy buddy film Clerks (1994), which he wrote, directed, co-produced, and acted in as the character Silent Bob of stoner duo Jay and Silent Bob. Clerks won the "Award of the Youth" and the "Mercedes-Benz Award" at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival, the "Filmmakers Trophy" at the Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for three Independent Spirit Awards (Best First Feature, Best First Screenplay and Jeff Anderson for Best Debut Performance).

The film Jay and Silent Bob also appeared in Smith's later films Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks II and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, which are set primarily in his home state of New Jersey. While not strictly sequential, the films have crossover plot elements, character references, and a shared canon known as the "View Askewniverse", named after Smith's production company View Askew Productions, which he co-founded with Scott Mosier.

Since 2011, Smith has mostly made horror films, including Red State (2011) and the "comedy horror films" Tusk (2014) and Yoga Hosers (2016), two in a planned series of three such films set in Canada dubbed the True North trilogy.

Last year, Smith executive produced Masters of the Universe: Revelation for Netflix and coming later this year, Smith will release the much anticipated Clerks III via Lionsgate.

Smith owns Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash in Red Bank, New Jersey, a comic bookstore which became the setting for the reality television show Comic Book Men (2012-2018). As a podcaster, Smith co-hosts several shows on his SModcast Podcast Network, including SModcast, Fatman Beyond, and the live show Hollywood Babble-On. He is known for /participating in long, humorous Q&A sessions that are often filmed for DVD release, beginning with An Evening with Kevin Smith.

    Great show, great venue

by Coolbeans on 11/11/19The Wilbur - Boston

Movie was full of fan service. If you're A Kevin Smith fan, I would highly recommend it. If you're not too familiar with his movies, you'll miss many of the "in" jokes. Also, the Wilbur is a phenomenal venue. Very intimate and friendly service.

    great show horrible theater

    by Wolverine26 on 11/11/19The Wilbur - Boston

the show itself was awesome. Kevin and Jay were hilarious as always. the theater experience though was terrible. there was alot of miscommunication with how to line up and lack of space in the waiting area and then the VIP seating was nothing but small chairs pushed together with small tables in the middle. would not recommend the Wilbur theater but 100 percent recommend seeing Kevin and Jay

    Amazing and fun!

by MEV on 11/11/19The Wilbur - Boston

We had an amazing time despite the pre-paid parking garage being full and the guy next to me saying my clapping was bothering him despite being in a sold out show at a giant theater. We had VIP tickets and enjoyed everything about the show. If you can catch this show or even just the movie, it's well worth it.

    Horribly disorganized venue

by Kyle on 11/11/19The Wilbur - Boston

The event itself was great. The venue (The Wilbur) however left much to be desired. The door staff was incredibly rude, and despite the "doors open" time of 9pm, kept people out in below-freezing weather until after 10 (when the actual event was supposed to start). The q&a was cut short because of this. When the door people were told the doors were supposed to open at 9, they responded with "good luck with that." Never attending anything at the Wilbur again.

    Snoogins

by Bailey on 10/26/1920 Monroe Live - Grand Rapids

After watching every movie and listening to every podcast I finally got to see Kevin live. Well worth the wait. Movie was great. Funny, tons of callbacks and cameos. Also a lot more heart then I expected. The Q&A was awesome. Both Kev and Mews were engaging and funny while still being humble and down to earth. The video they made for a fans grandmother was priceless.

    Good times

by J. on 10/26/19The Fillmore Detroit presented by Cricket Wireless - Detroit

Was a great show as always. We’ve seen him every time he comes to town. The Vip experience was a bit lacking as they spent so much time with the audience questionnaire that we could do our photo opp meet n greet but that’s our problem not theirs as they spent the time as needed for the fans. The venue needs to update their seating though. The cheap fold up seats are daunting to deal with for more than an hour. It’s our third show this month Vip and we won’t do it any more just because the seats are so uncomfortable. So 5 stars for the show but if we could rate the venue separately not so we’ll. Get better seats!!

What an outstanding experience. Everything felt seamless start to finish. A little bummed the t-shirt selection was really low! Only had one choice in XL

    Meet your heroes

by Drkseraphim on 10/26/1920 Monroe Live - Grand Rapids

Got the VIP experience for the reboot roadshow. Kevin and jason went above and beyond what was promised for me and all their fans. Truly great people and they show great love and respect to all their fans. The staff at venue were also very respectful with letting everyone get the full experience of the night without shoving you out the door.

A Reboot That Was Anything But Silent

by Rod Stark on 10/26/1920 Monroe Live - Grand Rapids

Such an awesome way to see a movie that has so many throwbacks to our lives. It was a nostalgia fueled, surprisingly tearjerking, cameo filled freight train. The true definition of fan service at its finest. The Q and A with Mewes and Smith after the movie made this one of my favorite events I’ve ever attended. Hope they do this for Clerks 3.

by Hyderzach on 10/25/19The Fillmore Detroit presented by Cricket Wireless - Detroit

Me and my girlfriend went to see Jay and silent bob reboot roadshow, me being a huge fan and her never even heard of the guy. In the beginning I was laughing my head off but she wasn’t won over just yet, by the about 30 minutes in she was cracking up as well! And she asked to me watch his other movies with her. It was a great night and a great movie.

    Always a good time!

by J.Boomer on 10/25/19The Fillmore Detroit presented by Cricket Wireless - Detroit

I could listen to Kevin Smith all day long! My son and I were both pleasantly surprised that the event included a screening of his newest film and we enjoyed that very much! The QA session afterwards was cut short by the venue, which I found a little irritating as Kevin was willing to extend the show a bit but was cut off by dimmed lights. Book him again and again.. I will buy tickets every time!

by B. on 10/25/19The Fillmore Detroit presented by Cricket Wireless - Detroit

Thoroughly enjoyed Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes entertaining commentary before and after the show. The movie was hilarious from start to finish and did indeed feel like a warm blanket of the Jay and Silent Bob universe wrapped around us as we journeyed through Kevin Smith's imagination! Great job!
